Today after I steeped this cup, I smelled the aroma of cocoa! This tea is full of surprises. Here is my full-length review of it: http://www.teareviewblog.com/?p=14581

A beautiful liquor in every way – to the eye, to the nose and to the palate! It has a lovely fragrance that is fruity and spicy and even a bit woodsy. It is a very good, complex Ceylon. Invigorating with a clean aftertaste.

2nd steep was very weak but it was still pleasant enough for me to drink.

Awesome tea! Thank you LiberTEAS, this one is definitely going my list of teas I don’t want to be without! Very easy tea to prepare, it was still yummy after I forgot to take the teaball out of my mug for about 20 minutes!

I brewed the last that I had of this tea a bit ago. Deliciously malty. I decided that I hadn’t had enough chocolate yet today, so I did add a splash of the Dark Chocolate Breve Creme to this… it is good as a chocolate-y creamy tea, but I think I actually like this better without the addition.

A very good tea, sorry to see this one go. But… I think I have plenty of tea to keep me occupied!

Enjoying a cup of this before I need to get out there and run some errands. It definitely has some get up and go to it! I really like this Assam. It has a very pleasant character. I just wrote a review for it for the SororiTEA Sister’s Blog… watch for it!

The only place I could find this Assam on the Drink T website was in the Tea Lover’s Root Basket…

This is a unique Assam in that I can taste strong spice notes that I don’t typically experience with other Assam teas. It has a nice, baked quality as well as the malty characteristic that I expect from an Assam… but this one has something more to it that reminds me slightly of a Keemun tea – a spice note and a wine-like note. It has a full-bodied flavor but it is a bit lighter than a typical Assam.

It’s very intriguing.

The last of the samples LiberTEA’s sent me and I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to try things I otherwise never would have so again, Thanks Heaps!

And what a tea to end with .. This one really surprised me as it’s a twiggy looking mix, almost half was twigs actually and the other large pieces of torn leaf .. I also couldn’t pick up much aroma from either the dried leaves or the brewed liquid so really wasn’t expecting much when I took that first sip but Wow! For an unflavoured black this tastes extraordinarily like chocolate malt, has a medium bodied mouth-feel and is oh so smooooth .. Mmm, I think I’m going to have to look into getting some more of this and check out the rest of their range ..

Mother told me not to play with my food, but never mentioned tea: http://i52.tinypic.com/245mwee.jpg

I am drinking this one iced. I drank about half a cup of it hot, but I think that this one is really better iced.

The flavor is crisp, light and delicious. I love the combination of peach and elderberry. It is sweet yet pleasantly tart.

YUM!

drank California Chai by Drink T
4843 tasting notes

I am just finishing up a cup of this now. This time around I remembered not to go latte with it, and I’m glad I didn’t – as good as it was as a latte, it’s so much better without it. There is still that sort of spiced creamsicle-y taste to it, but it is less pronounced without the steamed milk.

It is beautifully spiced. I really like this! I am going to increase the numeric rating just a bit because it IS better this time!

drank California Chai by Drink T

A quick glance at my tasting notes from today, and you might think I’m on bit of a chai kick – first the Alberta Street Chai, then the Carnival (which has some spice to it but isn’t “called” a chai, although I think of it as such), and now this. I didn’t really plan it that way, it just happened that when I opened my cabinet looking for a black tea, this is the first one I happened across… and so I decided to try it.

I am glad that I have enough of this to try again, because I think that next time I am going to try it without the latte. Not that it’s bad with the frothed milk (it’s quite yummy!) but with the citrusy tones, I think I want to experience without it. ha! Even the description from Drink T says don’t add cream. I like it with though…

This is a very good chai. The citrus and vanilla notes give it a really interesting flavor. The spices are very nicely done here – a little peppery, a little zingy, a little zippy… but not TOO much. It’s like a little bit of a lot of spice, if you know what I mean.

drank High Mountain Alishan by Drink T

Ali Shan is my favorite Oolong. I love it so much, in fact, that I bought a Yixing mug strictly for my Ali Shan teas.

I took out my gaiwan for this (yes, my gaiwan is becoming less a gadget and more an essential brewing tool). This is a really lovely Ali Shan. The flavor is rich – pleasing mouthfeel, although it’s a little lighter (less) mouthfeel than in some other Ali Shan teas I’ve encountered. It’s still quite nice though. Buttery. Floral. Only a hint of vegetation.

A very nice Ali Shan!

This tea surprised me with how good it tastes!

As the description from Drink T suggests, it is mildly tart and it sort of tickles the tip of the tongue in the finish. The flavor is sweet. Tropical. Very pleasant! I bet this one rocks it iced!

drank Black Tea Maracuja by Drink T

The aroma of fruit (apricot!) and a hint of spice greeted me when I opened the package. I don’t know that there is actually any spices in this blend, but, my nose detected a faint note of spice.

This is a very nice combination of apricot and passion fruit. Pleasantly sweet, only faintly tart (which is quite alright with me). I’m not getting any significant amount of spice flavor so I will attribute the spice note that I’m getting to be part of the black tea base. There is some astringency – not a heavily drying astringency, but it does seem to cleanse the palate because there is very little aftertaste.

This smells wonderful! Juicy Papaya but also floral and green tea! This infuses to a light color as it shows in the photo…mine was a tad darker tho.

The taste is a lovely, juicy sweeter-green tea taste with BIG Papaya and Floral flavors!

I have a large chunk of rose petal in this bit I am infusing but I can taste both types for flowers that perfectly assist the Papaya! YUM!

drank Mate Honey by Drink T

The honey aroma is so intense I can smell it in the other room! WOW! Now…I am not one to really LOVE honey but it’s alright I guess…so I find this aroma a little overwhelming BUT if you are one who LOVES honey – I think you will love it!

It’s quite yellowish in color just like in the product description pic from Drink T’s website.

The taste is still true honey taste-wise but not nearly as intense as the aroma. It’s first and foremost honey but then I can pick up on some sweet grass and herbal notes. The taste of this is very nice. As I continue to drink it I am finding I am enjoying it more and more.

This one surprised me…I wasn’t sure if I would ‘dig’ it or not – but turns out – it’s pretty groovy!

This is so YUM!

The green tea base is light and smooth. The papaya and lemongrass come together very harmoniously, both sweet in their own way, and just a hint of fruity tartness.

Very light and refreshing.

This smells like toffee – no doubt about it!

So much so that I was a little afraid it was going to be way overly flavored but the flavoring on the tongue was nice! And as it cooled for a few at room temperature I seemed to enjoy the flavor even more. It’s nutty and sugary-sweet and a nice treat!

3rd infusion – paler/mellower in aroma and taste. Still a pleasant yummy tho.
There is still a little orange flavor left but the black tea and spices are weaker.

2nd infusion. YUM. A little less chai taste but just as much natural orange flavor. Still very flavorful.
