I’ve been mixing this with Mighty Leaf’s Organic Breakfast (which is a straight Assam) lately, to give it a little more of a breakfast oomph. Though each is fine separate (and drunk plain) they complement each other well, making a hefty and flavorful breakfast blend that I can drink plain or with milk.

“Hefty” is a great tea adjective!

Stephanie

I agree! Hefty tea is good!

This is from Ricky’s Darjeeling package! With 1/2tsp in the 3.5oz pot, this brews up a bright golden orange color. It smells fruity, and sharp, and little spicy. The taste is light and fruity, light enough that I’m not sure I’d call this a “Breakfast” tea. There is a touch of astringency, not overpowering, but enough that I wouldn’t want to steep this longer or stronger. Overall: very pleasant. All the flavor characteristics I hear Darjeelings are supposed to have without mouth-drying bitterness

I’m glad you like it. I saved enough for one cup if I ever felt daring to try it again. Maybe I’ll like it this time around, but I’m not so sure. I’m glad it’s found a new home!

One wonders if maybe their coffee production might have contaminated their tea production…

Ricky

I bet so! They were also applying the same techniques to make tea as coffee.

The musky taste and smell gets to me. Perhaps I’ll broaden my horizons one day in my quest to be a total tea snob, but if it’s musky…I’m out.

Ricky

Haha, that’s like me and chai. I take a sip and I’m down for the count.
