Ah, my precious is back! Unfortunately it was a very rough day at work so I didn’t get to enjoy it all that much. It really seemed like GTC’s plain Earl Grey today, but I wonder if it’s because I just tried their plain Earl Grey so it’s super-fresh in my mind, or if it’s because I was running around all day long doing someone else’s job. Ahem.

I had a mutant form of this tea today since I think I was delusional overly optimistic about having enough sample left for my JOEmo. So I ended up trying a mix of 1/2 tsp Earl Grey Cream and 1/2 tsp Colonille by SeredipiTEA (courtesy of JacquelineM). Eh, it was okay but I felt that the combo wasn’t the best for either tea. It ended up being a mellow vanilla black tea.

But I am not upset! Why is Rabs not upset that she’s out of her precious Earl Grey Cream? It’s because the super-awesome Daniel Mann made this tea available online for me!!!!! Hooray! Huzzah! Yippee! Even though my car problems seem to be getting more dire I still shall order this. I’ll have to refrain from going too nuts on ordering this evening due to money constraints, but by golly Rabs needs her nummy tea! Today’s version was a solid NE.

Well, to help you out since your car died, how about using coupon code ‘steepster’ when checking out and get 10% off your entire order?

Rabs

Aww — Daniel! Now I’m all misty-eyed (it’s allegies I tell ya — allergies!). Thank you so very much. You’d pretty much made me a loyal customer, but lordy, now you’ve got one outspokenly loyal customer on your hands :)

Thank you again!

This tea was my moment of zen in my craptacular day. I think that I look at is as more of a desert tea than an Earl Grey.

I have enough of my sample left for one more JOEmo thermos-full. This gives me stress.

Will this tea be available to order soon? I can has yummy tea?

I added it to the web site…just for you! Heh.

Rabs

Eeeeeeee!!!!! ::’splodes::

Thank you so very much! Hopefully today I’ll find out how much my car repair is gonna cost which will affect the qty of tea that I get for this first order. Earl Grey Cream shall be purchased no matter what. Thank you!!!!!

Rabs

I was actually gonna PM you later today to see if there was any way I could get my little hands on some of this — you rock! :D

Daniel Mann - Georgia Tea Co.

yay! Car trouble? That’s no good, what’s wrong with your car?

Rabs

They think that it’s the computer. Effin’ car computers. I had to total my last car because the computer shorted out. I spent a chunk of money at one place to find out today that they’re not sure what’s wrong so it needs to be towed to the dealership. ::facepalm::

Daniel Mann - Georgia Tea Co.

You can get a car computer for about $30 in a junk yard or pullapart place for your same make and model and just replace it, why all the trouble i wonder? Seems like a crappy mechanic. What kind of car is it?

Rabs

It’s a Toyota Matrix (one of the few that weren’t recalled). I had gone with Toyota because before the massive recall they were considered one of the most dependable car manufacturers. And since I had such a nightmare with Volkswagon (utter, horribly mind-blowing nightmare) I wanted something that would last for years and years. I miss my first car (a Honda) that was fine for over a decade — never broke down once while I owned it.

Daniel Mann - Georgia Tea Co.

Yeah, that’s pretty much right. VW’s have a lot of mechanical problems. My brother has owned three and all three broke down on him all the time. I have a honda accord and it has 250,000 miles on it and has never had a major mechanical problem. Toyota’s use to be great about as reliable as a honda, but obviously there reliability has come down quite a bit.

I wish you luck on the car, hopefully it won’t be too much.

Rabs

And VWs are crazy-expensive to have any work done ($80 charge for each thing that they look at) and when my VW died the dealership refused to look at it since it was over a decade old (we’re talking by a month). That’s what I call standing by your product :P

I’m praying that it’s covered under warranty. ::crosses fingers, toes, and eyes::

And thanks for the well wishes and the sweet discount!

Daniel Mann - Georgia Tea Co.

Heh, that’s horrible service! I’m sure it will work out well. If it’s the computer, certainly it should be covered under the warranty.

__Morgana__

Ugh, sorry for the car troubles, Rabs!

Rabs

Thank you! Fortunately my folks are able to help me out (and I get to drive my dad’s “midlife crisis car” which is a lot of fun).

This has become my first ever “go to” tea when it comes to the tea I drink for commutes and throughout my workday. Today I’m tasting more of the tea and it’s still wonderful. It’s just a giant-thermos-o-soothing.

It was the first day of our Summer Reading Program at the library, so I needed something both yummy and sanity-saving. Earl Grey Cream to the rescue! I now know the secret ingredient (mwahahaaaa!) and I have to say that it truly is the right amount for optimum numminess. I’m dying for another Steepsterite to try this and put in their 2 cents. I’m also dying for Daniel to make this available for sale (hint-hint), because I’m not going to place my order until this is available ;) Bumping the rating up by a point! TG

I also have found the right equation for my JOEmo thermos:
1 tsp and 165 degrees.

I decided to take this tea to work with me today in my JOEmo. I think that I’m getting better at using it in regards to the right temp and only using a teaspoon of tea. I think that I should drop it 10 more degrees for optimal drinkage using this thermos.

Onto this tea. Every single sip was uber-yum. I don’t know if it was the lower temp, or the fact that it was in consta-steep in the thermos, but lordy was it sweet and good. It tasted less Earl Greyish, but oh the creamy sweetness was awesome. Again, I’ve never had an Earl Grey Cream before, so I have no basis for comparison. I’m bumping up the rating from an 84 and a NE to a TG.

I thought I’d keep up my Earl Grey trend of late and start my morning with something completely new to me — an Earl Grey Cream. Since I drink all my teas straight I really couldn’t fathom what a “cream” flavor would be like paired with an Earl Grey. The answer is yummy.

This tea isn’t listed on GTC’s website yet, so I sent Daniel Mann a PM to see if there’s any info available yet — I’ll update this tea’s listing and my note once I hear back. ETA: Daniel got back to me and yes, this is a brand new blend and he’s using us lucky Steepsterites as guinea pigs. I’m a happy guinea pig :D

The smell of both the dry leaves and the steeped ones were a sweet vanilla-ey fragrance with undercurrents of a black Earl Grey tea. I can’t say that I’ve ever used the term “hairy eyeball” in my life until I started trying GTC’s teas. I can’t say that I’m in love with the general combo of EG and a sweet vanilla-ey creaminess, but with this tea it’s really really good. I could imagine this type of tea going horribly wrong, but I think it works here. There were quite a few sips that were “NOM! NOM! NOM!” in a desert tea type-of-way. I could imagine this tea eventually becoming something that must be in stock in my cupboard, but it’s too soon for me to say. The EG itself was nice and smooth.

I must admit that I was once again distracted while trying to enjoy this tea: my final shipment for my Geek Pride Day Giveaway came this morning (only took the order 20 days to arrive :P) so I was busy putting the final touches on everything before I posted them. Therefore, the last 1/3 of my cup had completely cooled. I did not like the cooled cup — the citrusy aspects of the EG came through too much. The second steep (added a minute) was still yummy, but perhaps not as sweet. I look forward to trying this one again with complete focus. Another huge THANK YOU to Daniel Mann for sending this sample to me. NE

Oh! Another goodie-sounding one! I’ll tell ya…Georgia Tea Company is kickin’ butt and takin’ names!!!!

Rabs

No joke — they’re now at the top of my “purchase from next” queue. I’m keeping an eye on the Select hoping something will come up from GTC :D

Miss Sweet

Yum, this sounds delicious! Totally keeping an eye out for creamy earl greys now…

Rabs

It really is delicious — I took it with me to work in my travel mug and it’s really really sweet and yummy. I might have to bump up the rating later cuz i think that this has crossed over into teagasm territory. :)

This is my last cup of this. I’m gonna miss you pom fruit.

Today I am tasting an orange flavor along with the raspberry and vanilla flavors.

Update – and OMG, I just got the twizzler scent that Rabs mentioned. Yep, totally twizzlers.

Rabs

Hooray! I’m not totally crazy :D

Daniel Mann - Georgia Tea Co.

Haha, never thought of twizzlers, that’s great.

I’ve been burned by so many fruit teas that I was hesitant to try this one. I put it in a drawer when I got it and I’ve been giving it the evil eye every time I open the drawer. But not to fear, this one is good! Thanks to Daniel from Georgia Tea Company for sending me a sample of this.

I’m not sure what’s in it and I can’t find it on the website. Looks like pomegranate, carrots (?), pineapple, blue blossoms… and maybe apple? It interestingly tastes like it has vanilla too. The flavor is raspberry vanilla orange (in that order)… with a creamsicle flavor at the end. I’m guessing the raspberry is actually the pomegranate since I think those flavors are similar.

The more I drink it, the more I like it. Sorry, but I don’t think I’ll be sharing the rest of this sample. :P

Sweetened with a touch of agave nectar.

Oooh — this one had me concerned too. The fragrance is great, but I too have had prior issues with fruit teas. Now I’m pretty excited to try this! :)

TeaEqualsBliss

SOUNDS interesting!

Kristin

I hope you like it as much as I do. I love the vanilla in it.

malomorgen

oh agave nectar sounds interesting too…

Kristin

Agave nectar is a great sweetener for tea. It doesn’t have much flavor (other than a malty sweetness) and it’s liquid so it dissolves easily. You can get it at any Whole Foods, or healthy grocery store.

Daniel Mann - Georgia Tea Co.

This is a new tea and I’m not selling it yet. I was waiting on a review from you to put it on my web site. :P Thanks!

Kristin

Thanks Daniel. I’m 99% sure I’ll need to order some of this. :)

My morning/after work tea today! The first steep is decent, but I practically inhaled it in order to get to the much better (like crazy-better) second steep. Steep 1 is the baconish smoky steep and rather straightforward. If that’s how the tea tasted for each steep, then my rating would be in the 70s. Steep #2? It’s so similar to Black Dragon it’s eerie. I loves me this here tea. TG

I was sad and a wee bit jealous that Doulton had already married Upton’s Black Dragon. I am sad no longer: I’ve found my smoky tea to marry! This tea and the Black Dragon could be fraternal twins. (Would this make Doulton my sister-in-law?) The Dragon is mellow in its gentle seduction. This tea is aggressive in its…ravaging? Okay, so it’s like you took the sweet depth of the Dragon and swapped it for blunt smoke. The depth that I was hoping for in GTC’s Lapsang Souchong is here.

The first steep is just divine, but only slightly hints at the sweet undercurrent that I enjoy in most smoky teas. It’s not a bad thing, it’s just different. The second steep (added a minute) seems a bit flatter, but then that wonderful sweet sensation comes through and makes everything okay in my world. I adore the aftertaste of this tea. I find myself taking extended pauses between sips so that I can enjoy the aftertaste. NOM.

This one’s a definite keeper and will be kept next to its Dragon brother in my tea cupboard. I shall drink whichever one matches my mood. TG

Wow — a lovely Steepsterite contacted me (you know who you are) to mention that I should come back and check out how great the site/community’s doing. Seriously: wow! She wasn’t exaggerating.

I don’t know how active I’ll be on here — there’s a lot of wonderful things going on in my life. I’ve really settled down in my tea routine so I don’t have a lot of new notes to give. I tried to sip-down my tea cupboard, but finally gave a very lucky coworker almost all of my tea.

Georgia Tea Co. gets pretty much all of my tea business now (I rotate between this original Cancer Fighting Tea — called Teavite now, I believe, and the Lavender CFT one). I enjoy that every cup is slightly different and it just makes me feel a bit healthier when I drink it.

I felt it worth writing a new review for this since my last rating was 80 – I bumped it up to a very strong 90. Also, Georgia Tea surprised me in a wonderful way: their packaging is now top-notch. They started off using these food-grade bags…I don’t even know how to describe them — like a paper version of those coffee bags that you roll down the top of and push over a twist tie to seal it. Then they used those same bags but with a nicely sealed plastic bag within it so you’d get it, open the tea and put it in the bag if you’d like. I have several nice containers that I put my tea into, so I never used any of the packaging, and it never bothered me.

This last order their new packaging was revealed and it’s now on par with the best companies that don’t use canisters. It’s a quality ziplock-type bag — just perfect. I think that this packaging really retains the fragrance so much better. I still put my tea into its normal container, but the first cup I had was almost bitterly intense in terms of taste and fragrance which I’d never experienced with this tea before. In the future I’ll definitely cut back the amount I put in my strainer before I head to work.

I mainly wanted to add a new review to congratulate Daniel and company on the fantastic new packaging, and make others aware of it.

This tea is just rockin’ my world tonight. I got home from the aforementioned craptacular day at work and decided to finish this sample off since it looked like it mainly had the rooibosses (rooibossi?) left in the mix. Which also worried me since I’m not the biggest rooibos fan. But less caffeine was the focus this evening.

Holy mackrel is this good! It’s like all the flower power was hiding amongst those chippies. It’s tasting divine and I’m just sort of sinking down into my chair. I’m almost tempted to bump up the rating, but I’ll hold off for now. I believe that I may have to purchase more of this once I finally go off of my lockdown and get through most/all the GTC samples that I recently received. TG

I finally had this tea properly brewed and was very happy with the results. The mentholness is just hinted at in the smell and is nowhere in the taste. Instead there is quite a bit of floral coming through that hadn’t before. I don’t know if this is a result of scooping out a different amount of jasmine pearls or what, but me likey. The Cancer Fighting Lavender is still my favorite, but I’ve bumped this one up from a 75. NE

Right up front I gotta tell you that I’m trying to remember my experience with this tea from about 10 hours ago (in my basic to-go mug during my commute, so my focus wasn’t completely on the tea). And then I used it for my first tea in my new JOEmo and I think that I botched that. I will definitely be trying another round with this tea under more controlled circumstances. Even will all these distractions, I can confidently say that this tea deserves a minimum grade of 75.

I was expecting a floral ‘splosion. No floral ’splosion ocurred. It came across more as a tea potpourri and walked a fine line between that tea-pourri and mediciness. As I drove along and sipped I was rather disappointed that I wasn’t getting to enjoy this more and figure out the flavors.

I won’t get into it too much in this review, but holy moly the JOEmo is serious about keeping the water hot. The recommendation is to put less loose leaf in and lower the water temp if you plan to keep the tea in the thermos. I should’ve gotten the water down to 170 and I might have put too much leaf in it. I think I cooked the tea. It crossed the line into mediciney (seriously, I was getting an odd menthol-type taste). I added some less hot water halfway through and it helped mellow the flavor. I felt bad for this tea. It was still very much drinkable, but I knew that I’d affected it in a negative way since the original cup was pretty good. As it stands I prefer the berry/floralness of the Lavender version. NE

There really is a lot going on here with this herbal tisane. I could smell an herbally, licorice, lemon smell right away and that was prior to the steep. It grew strong as it infused. I could see most if not all of the ingredients. Afterwards I could smell and taste the Fennel, licorice, orange/lemon, peppermint, and anise. There was a natural spice to it and a little bit of an herbal taste or medicinal taste but then the peppermint and citrus flavors cut it well for me.

This ended up tasting better than I thought it would. I think I actually prefer it iced or cold than hot. I would have it again but not the first one I would pick off the shelf for myshelf, usually.

Daniel Mann - Georgia Tea Co.

I haven’t even tasted this one, I can’t get over the awful smell! Then again I don’t like herbal teas like this. I don’t like licorice or fennel or anise..eww to all of them. Heh. I just got Shanti, it’s apart of the Ayruvedic line that I just got. Your the first person to try it since I’ve had it.

TeaEqualsBliss

Daniel…the smell kind of scared me but the taste was different than the aroma lead me to believe…it was “OK”, actually…I would say the Licorice was the more IN YO FACE flavor tho…

Rabs

Oh my — I hope that this isn’t one of the samples I received cuz quite a few of those ingredients evoke a gag reflex in me. Licorice ::shudders::

Daniel Mann - Georgia Tea Co.

I guess I will ‘try’ to taste it. I’ve tasted all my other teas but this one and the OM. I’ve never liked licorice, that might be why I don’t like the smell too much.

Daniel Mann - Georgia Tea Co.

I don’t think I sent this one to you Rabs. I usually don’t recommend it unless someone asks to taste it. The Ayruvedic teas have not been as popular as I thought they would and I probably will not reorder them.

malomorgen

im so glad to see i’m not the only one with licorice issues ;)

TeaEqualsBliss

Daniel…have you ‘pushed’ them to the Yoga outlets specifically!? Or done any advertising in the Yoga Magazines, etc!?

This rooibos is quite tasty and makes for a great dessert tea with some milk and honey! This tastes like amaretto with a slight chocolate taste to it. Almondy/cherryish/chocolatey all in one?! Yes please! Now, it’s rare that I will drink a rooibos tea that’s not blended with another tea, but this is good all on it’s own, but I would bet money that this would be amazing mixed with a smooth And bold black tea… Actually I will have to try that next time!

Daniel Mann - Georgia Tea Co.

It’s great with Vanilla Black or Almond Black.

I like this tea. The black base seems to be of high quality. It’s not bitter at all and it has some earthiness in the smell. The flavoring is nice, but tastes more like peaches than currants… it’s almost like a mix of peaches and raisins. I like it more and more as it cools.

I think this would make an excellent iced tea and will try that sometime later this week.

I recently tried the original Cancer Fighting Tea from Georgia Tea Company and was VERY Pleased with the taste and everything that went IN to that tea. Now…I am going to try the Lavender version.

I’m smelling more of a berry rooibos type smell and not so much Lavender but I am totally ok with that!!

It’s on the verge of a dark brown…almost.

What I like about BOTH of the Cancer Fighting Tea is they don’t TASTE Medicinally-so. This is really tasty! The natural sweetness of the Rooibos…the berry, specifically, BLUELOVE it! There is a HINT of floral. If floral teas scare you – give this a try! It’s very mellow on the floral side…but you still get the herbal benefits.

I like this! Fruity and sweet – almost dessert like. Actually – I can picture myself eating blueberry cheesecake or danishes in a beautiful garden setting with a cup of nice tea on a lovely spring day! Ahhhh…

Yea…this is nice. I like this.

Rabs

I had the original Cancer Fighting tea today which I found more tiptoeing near mediciney. I think between the two I really love the lavender because of the fruit/floweriness. Oy — I need to write my “original” review (and here’s not the place) ;)

TeaEqualsBliss

I agree – it seems I like this one a bit more than the original as well. But I must say BOTH of them surprised me…I was thinking they would be completely mediciney-esque but they had some additional and good flavors going!!!

Rabs

I was definitely surprised as well and in a good way too! I really feel bad with how I experienced the original (lots of zany hijinks that affected my tea experience) — but I truly look forward to trying it again in a more zen-like controlled situation. :)

This is the first tea I have tried from the Georgia Tea Company and I must say it is VERY aromatic; I can smell the sweet fruits with no doubt! This is a naturally sweet tea without adding any sugar. The cherry and strawberry along with the mango and papaya stand out the most to me along with slight floral notes that linger in the background. I had half of this cup hot, which was good and then let it cool down to room temp. and tried it again and it’s even better and would probably be awesome as an iced tea!

Happy Halloween Steepsterites!!!

I just received my most recent order of this tea — prompt shipping and amazing service as always. I don’t know if I can give all the credit to this tea, but so far I’ve remained the healthiest I’ve been all year ::knocks on wood:: It most likely is the combo of this tea, good vitamins, and my Adrian Monk-level of germaphobia.
