Another morning cup of tea from the Traveling Tea Box! I have been so productive this week and I think it’s because I’ve been drinking so much tea. I’m usually pretty sensitive to caffeine, but there have been so many fun teas to try that I’ve not really noticed it. Tomorrow we go to the beach so sadly, today is my last day with the box. I will forever be a fan of traveling tea boxes after this first experience with one being amazing!

This Earl Grey Cream blend includes coconut in it, which sounds delicious! The dry leaves smell mostly of sweet vanilla, with a little bergamot. The tea itself has a soft bergamot aroma with a hint of creamy vanilla and coconut. The flavor is a little surprising – it’s sharply malty with an unexpected tart citrus flavor. There’s a very sweet vanilla finish with a nutty vanilla aftertaste. I wish the coconut stood out a little more, since all I am really getting is just a little nuttiness mixed in with the vanilla. This tea is nice, but nothing special in my opinion. It is also pretty sweet on it’s own, but adding in milk and sugar tones down the tartness of the citrus.

-Dry blend has large black tea leaves and twigs.
-Dry leaves smell sweetly of vanilla and deep bergamot. Tea liquor aroma is of soft bergamot with a hint of creamy vanilla and coconut.
-Tea liquor is a clear very dark brown color.
-Sharp malty and tart citrus flavor with a sweet vanilla finish. Nutty vanilla aftertaste.
-Best with milk and sweetener.
-Good tea. A very sweet Earl Grey with vanilla. Coconut flavor doesn’t stand out. Strange, slightly artificially sweet taste.

Putting the teabox together was worth that effort then. :D I just hope it keeps not-getting-lost-in-the-mail like it has been! I’m crossing my fingers!

This is probably one of the best Chamomile based teas I’ve gotten, and as someone whos an insomniac, I’ve tried an unholy crapton.

Very mild and relaxing flavorwise, without too much of any of the flavors. I’m glad I got a good amount of this because its probably going to be a nightly/semi nightly drinker for me.

Dinosara sent me this one a while back — thank you! I love a good oolong. This one is a solid oolong — a bit vegetal, floral and fruity! I think the flavor might be a bit lessened just because of the packaging that Georgia puts their teas in (not air tight) but Dinosara kindly put it in a better pouch (that I really want to buy some of — they are so much nicer than the baggies some of my teas are in!) I also really wish Georgia would have steep instructions on their site since I know all oolongs have different steeping parameters.

I read the reviews before I tried this and was horrified at the mention of hibiscus. Its one of my least favorite tea additives. Luckily I don’t even notice it in the cup I’m drinking at the moment. This is like a warm pumpkin chai with a nice subtle pumpkin. Definitly a fan of more then just the name.

I think this may be one of those teas where I just got an unusual sampling from the batch, or my tastebuds are going haywire today. Usually my tasting notes fall into line with some/most others, but not this time.

My first smell of the dry tea was an abundance of bergamot. It was so strong, it was almost overwhelmingly floral/medicinal. This will probably lessen over time, as the volatile compounds leave the opened bag. But it was so strong this time, it was almost enough to put me off the tea.

After steeping, a lot of the smell remained, but it was not as overwhelming. I did not pick up any cream, coconut, or anything else much other than the bergamot. It may have been there, but just not able to sneak past the overwhelming bergamot.

Please note that as of this tasting, I have not tried many Earl Grey cremes. I would expect that after tasting some others, my palate would be somewhat better defined, and perhaps better able to pick up on the more subtle notes. The black tea base did seem pretty nice.

Update, after second steeping: This has at least turned out to be a very good Earl Grey, especially if I let it air out a little before steeping :) I still do not pick up on any “Cream” aspects in the second brew, which I was hoping would happen when some of the bergamot gone. But it is still a nice tea.

Into the last dozen TTB teas I haven’t had, woooo. The only problem with this is I’m basically just trying each one and sending them back on their way because nothing has been OMG MUST KEEP when I have so many teas….way too many….someone make me stop.

So I thought I’d get vanilla and cream from this especially given an addition of coconut, but eh it’s really light. I actually kind of get more a nuttiness than a creaminess from the coconut. I’m guessing this is because I only did a 3 min steep? I also let it get way too cool…I need to set a second timer for when tea is at my optimal drinking temperature. Jeez.

May try this one again, not sure yet.

This came as a sample with my Georgia Tea Company order. I was looking for something to drink before jiu jitsu without having to open something new. Iced of course! I’m going to be overly hot and sweating once I start rolling!

Ehh, not for me. The raspberry flavor is good – I added rock sugar so the raspberry closely tastes like candy.
However, I can taste that red rooibos flavor – which I do not like! I feel like sucha brat for not liking a type of tea and I only like rooibos if I
1. Can’t taste it
2. the flavoring manipulated to taste like crust or whatever in a blend.

So, if you like red rooibos, this has a good raspberry taste, especially iced!

If you’re a brat, then that means that I am too since I’m the same. Cover that taste up lest I’m not interested.

Got this with some other teas from Azzrian…thanks!

Though my interest in teas is more with whites, greens, herbals and rooibos, I do like some black teas. This is no exception:) The raspberry in the tea tastes just like eating handfuls of raspberries, sweet and tart, but just enough tart to make it interesting…not mouth puckering. This is a tea I’d like to try as a latte:)

I would definitely get this again.

Overall, very nice.

The “almond” flavor is more of a sweet/slightly cherry/amaretto flavoring, not a natural nutty almond flavor. The scent of the tea in the bag is strongly dominated by this sweet component.

The steeped tea is not as intensely flavored as expected, given the strong scent. The coconut seemed to dominate, followed by the almond/amaretto, and vanilla was a distant third. But it has a really nice black tea base that never got bitter, and never overwhelmed the other flavors.

The second steep had even less almond/coconut flavoring, and the black tea base came through more. Still very nice cup due to the quality of the black tea.

Ahhh I missed having this. I tried it flash chilled yesterday instead.

I’m going to give blood tomorrow so I’m trying not to overdo it on tea, just drinking fruit ones and this so that I’m full of hemoglobin and super hydrated. I’m excited because I really want to give double red blood cells being O- and I’m just hoping I don’t freak out. My problem is the blood pressure sleeve…see, when people repeatedly use that thing on you and have issues with it working, it becomes a source of anxiety. Like in my mind the next thing that will happen is it becomes stuck while squeezing my arm. I think I can get past the whole needle in the arm thing just fine, that dumb sleeve is holding me up.

So anyway if you have not had plain green rooibos, especially as iced tea, you are missing out. I’d never drink red rooibos by itself. No way. I think it tasted better when I cold brewed it, and generally rooibos does taste better to me if you just make it and cool it off. So double strength poured over ice was going to be the least desired method but I wanted tea now!

It wasn’t so bad actually, the dominant flavor is most definitely honey. And it’s just a sort of crisp, slightly sweet drink. And supposedly good for hydration. We’ll see. I’ve been having a headache since last night which makes no sense.

Now I think I’ll make some more, but this time let it cool off on its own, and go find some of my other green rooibos blends to try out iced.

Lala

Just want to say its super awesome that you donate blood, especially being O-.

momo

Thank you, I haven’t done it in a long time because I get anxious so easily, but this past week has really given me a good atmosphere in my head so to speak about why I should just move past that and help people out as best I can, it just happens to be through blood. And every day there are definitely people who it could help, weird things to be bothered by can take a seat.

Green rooibos is seriously a totally different animal from the red stuff. I wouldn’t cold steep red rooibos on its own if my life depended on it. Green rooibos on the other hand, this makes for an amazing drink!

I bought this to mix with a Teavana tea that needed much more rooibos, but ended up blending it with another so I’ve been too scared to try it on its own. It came up in my randomizer, however, so I figured I’d cold steep a pitcher.

It wasn’t stored in a way it could get a flavor from anything else, so I guess this is just how green rooibos is! There’s honey, it’s a bit fruity, it’s just really good, and there’s no medicinal taste to it. It’s just a bit grassy tasting, as would be expected from its color.

I won’t have any problem finishing off this pitcher (or the rest of my 2oz for that matter)!

Used up the rest of this sample. Made it slightly diluted, and found that I liked it a little more. Almond fruity rooibos. Won’t be buying it though—really not an amaretto fan.

I’ve only ever SMELT amaretto, never tasted it, but there is somewhat of a vague comparison in the scent. I don’t know, I haven’t sniffed it RECENTLY (not that I make it a habit or anything), but I’ve found it to have a syrupy sweet scent that I rather dislike. This, however, is a sweet, nutty, and fruity smell.

Sipping it, I get rooibos, and the SMELL of amaretto in taste-form. What. A sort of pungent, soursweet numbingly alcoholic taste. I’m not sure if I like it, but I know my mother rather enjoys amaretto, and I’m considering offering some to her next time I see her.

Thank you amazonv for sending me some of this tea. Dry you can really see all the ingredients which is good and I smell the black tea and mango. Taste wise I really taste the black tea with abit of mango. This is a decent tea but I want more mango.

This tea reminds me of my dad! With that being said it’s hard to get past that older man, after shave smell that I’m getting lol. This tea doesn’t taste as strong as strong as it smells though and does seem to be calming… I can get that from this, but every time I try to pick out the flavors “old man after shave” keeps popping up in my head over and over again. Hmmm it’s a bit woodsy, a bit spicy, a bit musky… Brute tea? Hehe, with that being said I’m not going to rate this because I’m sure it’s a good herbal tea, I just associate it so strongly with my dad that it throws me off a bit ;-)

I’m not really sure what to make of this. Mostly because I’m not really sure how to describe it. Lol.
I keep sipping at it to see if I can figure it out, but my mind draws blank. I guess it’s got a strong malty-ness to it, if I’m figuring what that even means out right. Maybe a bit of woodiness. A strong something taste. Lol.
Strong astringency, especially as it cools.

Bah. I give up! /throws hands in air/ What I do know is that, while it was nice to try, it’s just not for me. I’m just more into fruity/sweet teas in general. Into the swap bin it goes. Lol.

Thanks so much Momo for that sale you had! I was able to buy a few teas I wanted to try and a few I already knew were favorites that I was running out of. This one sounded nice! I like the sprinkles. I wonder if one day I’ll just be drinking no-frills teas but these are just too fun anyway. I love the idea that there is “fruit” in here but they don’t say what kind. I see orange cubes. A taste test after infused makes me think it’s apricot unless there is more than one type of fruit here. I love the marzipan flavor and the real almonds here. The rooibos is nice too. This might be my favorite from Georgia. Yeah, it’s not winter but I’m loving this tea anyway.

This has been cold steeped in my fridge with ice cold filtered water for 3-4 hours now. It’s produced a dark red colour so I’m going to risk serving it. Usually for fruit teas I would steep them over night but it’s a hot day and I require iced tea. Now not later.

So yes it’s a dark red colour and has a slight fruity and spicy scent.

Alright it does taste synthetically strawberry, like gummy sweets, but with a spicy undercurrent (like cardamom pod) with a citrus kick. Not as tart as I was expecting thankfully.

Strawberry, cardamom, orange, cinnamon and sugar. That pretty much does the whole taste sensations that I experience with this iced tea, but even after all of those it’s still missing something. Real depth and fresh flavour could be it. Plus wtf is egg protein doing in this tea? A preservative of the fruit?

Overall it beats having a dry throat but is certainly not something I would buy again. Another tea I can tick off my list to try. :)

I find that I like this a lot less than I initially did 6 months ago so I’m lowering the rating. I still really enjoy the combination of vanilla, coconut and almond, but it seems to be lacking something. I doubt I’ll reorder this next year as one of my holiday teas and I’ll be finishing off what little I have left over the next few days.

yeah, this got high reviews so i grabbed a sample during the black fri sale and while it’s not bad, it seems a little one-dimensional, like yeah, it’s missing something. but not bad. good when you’re harried and don’t want anything complex, just a sweet treat i think.
