This tea reminds me of some of the Christmas cookies that I bake every year. I like the slivers of almond and coconut that have been added, it gives the tea some color, but I’m not sure that it adds to the flavor. When brewed it has a great balance of almond, coconut and vanilla and is very sweet on its own, so I wouldn’t recommend adding a sweetener. This will definately going in my holiday rotation of teas, it makes my house smell wonderful while steeping.

Backlog:

I didn’t hate this … but I didn’t love it either. It was kind of just “meh” for me … I liked the notes of cardamom and licorice … but I found myself actually wishing that it would have something like rooibos or something to it … more of a base note that would support the spices and floral tones. And that’s not something I say often about a tisane … that I wish it had rooibos!

Overall – it was tasty, not bad … but it wasn’t something I’d jump up and down over either.

This is so good cold steeped.

It’s really fruity and light. I still don’t taste much in the way of black tea, but I can definitely find the slight pineappleness in this. I still get apricot and papaya first, though I’m starting to think the apricot notes are a result of the strawberry and papaya melding in my mouth. It leaves a fantastic tropical aftertaste too.

I don’t know why I waited until now to try it this way. Bring on the humidity, I’m ready!

Man. I know it’s supposed to be pineapple, papaya, and strawberry but this really really tastes like apricot with a mild dose of papaya to me. I smell strawberry too, which makes it weirder. This brewed up more green tea-esque, even as a green/black blend, at the temperature I used, with really faint veggie notes coming through and a lovely golden liquor. The black tea doesn’t add much for flavor, but does lend itself to smoothing the whole cup out. The fruit flavors here are really vibrant and the star of this cup, though.

It reminds me a lot of Della Terra’s Sunshine, though smoother and maybe a little less artificial. If I didn’t have so much tea right now, this would be an awesome addition to a summer iced tea repetoire.

Sipdown! 819. A big thanks to momo for this one :)

Although I caught a hint of soapiness from a couple teas I brewed up tonight, by the time I got to this one, at least, it was gone, and what was left was a fairly pleasant coconut black with a hint of nuttiness. It was rather weak, however, but I think that the cause of that was either tea age, or perhaps understeeping, as I only steeped for 2 min, as I’ve tended to do with most “unknown” black teas lately (e.g. flavoured blacks where I don’t have reliable other recommendations, such as Butiki/Verdant).

Anyhow, I’d happily drink this in the future! Not a bad tea at all. It would probably be one to compare to Della Terra’s Chocolate Almond Coconut (which I also found to be weak, hmmm), or possibly H&S’s SoHo Blend… which is also kind of weak. Maybe it’s just the flavour combo! I think SoHo had the most chocolate flavouring… but come to think of it, I’m pretty sure that chocolate wasn’t an ingredient in here. Oops :D

Bleh, this one smelled/tastes a little bit soapy. I think we can blame coconut age here, as is irritatingly typical. The soapiness did go away a bit as the tea cooled, but I think this tea may be a bit of a write-off. Sigh. I shall try it again another day though!

Thanks momo for sending me some of this :D And sorry for the short tasting note… gotta run!

Was drinking this tea with my boyfriend today while we were packing to move. What a wonderful tea! Tried it both iced and hot, each was delicious! I took advantage of the $30 for $15 sale and bought 5 different teas, but I haven’t even tried the others yet, because this one is so amazing!

So I open this sample, and there’s almonds mixed in….Almonds! There wasn’t any sort of indication that there’d be almonds in this tea. Unfortunately I’m mildly allergic to almonds (among other nuts), so I spent a bit of time sifting through and picking out all the almonds from the tea. I probably should’ve waited until after I had tasted it, but to me, a straight vanilla tea shouldn’t have almonds in it. /shrug/
It especially should’ve been listed as an ingredient in the tea on the website! I wouldn’t’ve ordered it if I had know. But I have it here so I figure I’d try it.
So after all that, I think I’ve decided that I’m not a fan of straight rooibos. Lol. It’s alright in a blend in small amounts I guess, but straight out it’s got a…strange taste to me. Kinda minty-ish in a medicinal way. In this tea, you can smell the vanilla, and taste it in the brew, but I just couldn’t get past that faint mint-ish taste to it.
Definitely not for me.

I decided to lower my rating a little bit because this made a rather odd tasting iced tea.

Yet again my Georgia Tea Company order has not let me down. This is a great example of how to properly include hibiscus in a blend. It remains in the background adding just a hint of tartness and doesn’t completely take over, letting the raspberry and mint shine. This is a little tart, a little fruity, and a little minty and really has a great balance to it. I didn’t sweeten it, but I could see this working well sweetened and iced. This really is a great summer time drink.

Added bonus: My toddler loved it, he snatched my 16oz travel mug off of the table while I wasn’t looking and finished it in seconds.

So I decided to do another tea drinking marathon. This was first up. And it’s not to bad. It’s a pretty standard black tea with pineapple flavor. Got a giant chunk of dried pineapple when measuring out a cup’s worth.
Tried it plain and you couldn’t really taste too much of the pineapple. Decided to try a bit of brown sugar in this instead of my usual truvia. Next time I might try the truvia, but I really liked it with the brown sugar. The pineapple came out nicely, though for a pineapple tea I wish it would’ve been a bit stronger. It’s just very subtle and tasty. The black base is also pretty nice by not being too bitter or overly astringent for me. I want to say it’s a Ceylon base, but I’m not entirely certain so correct me if I’m wrong. The dry leaves are a curled like little balls if that helps. Lol.
I’m not sure this would make a good iced tea. I have a feeling it might turn bitter and the pineapple wouldn’t really come through very well.
Overall (yes I like saying that. XD) I’d reorder this unless I find another pineapple black tea that I like better.

Second mini sipdown of the day. Green/Black tea mix which I had high hopes for since I’m always on the lookout for a green tea I’d enjoy. Granted this is a mix, but I figure small steps.
It’s got a very fruity smell dry (yes I know I say this alot, but it’s all I know. Lol). Brewed the leaves keeps their tasty smell with just a hint of what I’m guessing is the green tea. And the tea smells like pineapple papaya goodness. Drinking this unsweetened I wasn’t too impressed so I added a bit of truvia and it made the fruit pop. Definitely get the pineapple with a hint of papaya but no strawberry that I can tell. Also I don’t notice the green tea that much if at all more than support to everything else. The same could be said of the black tea whatever this base is. Astringency isn’t too bad overall, though it’s noticeable enough.
Might try this iced to see how the fruit holds up. Possibly cold brew it just because.
When I get the rest of my stash down, I’d definitely consider reordering this one.

Hmmm… I’m not really sure what to say about this one. I don’t really care for the smell and in trying to pinpoint why I took another look at the ingredients. I need to pay closer attention to what I order because this has sage in it and I absolutely hate sage in anything other than the stuffing/dressing that goes with my Thanksgiving turkey. I’m pretty sure when I ordered it I saw that it had rose petals and that’s what snared me. I’m such a sucker for rose anything.

I didn’t dislike this as much as I thought that I would and that surprised me since it also contains lemon and I could really do without lemon in my tea. This has a nice balance to it and you can really taste the sage, rosemary, and lemon. What I’m not really tasting, at least while it is hot, is the rose. This really isn’t a bad blend, but it certainly isn’t to my tastes.

When I opened the bag I was immediately hooked, this tea smells just like an almond cookie. The almond comes through immediately as does the sencha, but the sencha remains in the background where it should be in this blend. The coconut rasps brings a nice sweetness to the mix giving it a creamy sort of flavor.

The second steep lost some of the almond scent, but it wasn’t any less delecious. I did try my second steep sweetened, but it really didn’t need it.

I have several almond cookie teas all of which are black, this one made me realize what was missing the entire time with those others. The base should have been green, it just works so much better and doesn’t compete with the almond flavor. With a green base the almond really gets a chance to shine.
