The first time I tried this tea, I did so as a cold brew because it sounded so promising. That little experiment did not go over so well (see previous tasting note), so I was hesitant to try it again. This time around, I’m trying it hot, and though it is a little better, I still do not think that this is a tea for me. My main problem with it is that it comes off too perfume-y in both the hot and cold brewed versions. In addition, the blood orange flavor is less of a juicy blood orange and more of the rinds. I find this rind trend to be similar in other citrus-y teas, which is kind of frustrating to me because who really eats the rinds of citrus fruits anyway?

When I smelled this tea, I knew I had to try cold brewing it. So I stuck it in the fridge for too long (over 13 hours? oops), and just took a sip of it now. It smells like a juicy orange, but when I take a sip, the blood orange flavor comes out perfume-y for me. I also taste something a bit ginger-like. I’m not a huge fan of ginger, so it didn’t sit quite well with me. I don’t think this is the tea for me, but it was nice to try it out! Thanks to Skysamurai for the sample!

I absolutely love this tea, with a splash of vanilla syrup and vanilla creamer.

Okay when you’re in a holiday mood. I ignore it the rest of the year.

This is a great tea to drink before singing. Clears and soothes the throat and tastes wonderful!

There are a few tropical hints but not enough to overpower the sweet and slightly nutty taste of the basic Rooibos flavor. It only needs to be steep for 5 – 7 minutes and once done it’s very soothing. I’m actually having trouble writing this post because it’s so relaxing. Picture yourself in your favorite place with your preferred drink of choice and you have the flavor of this tea.

I also suggest you try a Rooibos Latte if you ever get the chance. The warm milk froth mixed with the Rooibos froth is absolutely amazing.

Honestly, I don’t fancy the flavor. It doesn’t come off as earthy like most green teas do. It reminds me more of green beans. However it isn’t so bad that it’s going to sit in my cabinet. I’m going to try different steep times and see if that does anything.
Many people, including myself, think of it at first as a green tea. As I looked into the background on good old Wikipedia I found out that it is actually in two classifications and some people only classify it as a post fermented tea. The whole history and information on the tea is quite interesting if you have time to go and read it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pu-erh_tea

Travelling Tea Box C

I usually really like Yunnans, but this one was exceptionally bitter. There was a bright copperiness to it that I didn’t like. Onward to other teabox teas!

Bummer, that’s kind of unusual for a Yunnan, don’t you think? They are so sweet and smooth…

I know!!! I was so disappointed.

This is a complex tea. My mouth can’t quite understand that it’s tea and not something to eat. I’m drinking it iced currently but I think it would be quite good hot as well. I’m just amazed at how almondy it is but at the same time it doesn’t overrule the green. It’s taken about half of the cup for me to get used to it but it’s slowly growing more and more on me.

Nothing is more refreshing than a large cup of iced day on a hot day at the junk market. I tasted it with and without honey. Surprisingly I liked it better without the honey. I also think it would have been better without so much ice. The ice watered it down too much. I’m interested to see how it will be when it’s hot. It’s a fruity tea but lightly fruity. The green and the fruit mix well.

This tea reminds me of a tea they would drink at a fancy party or somewhere in a palace. It smells wonderful, like most Jasmine teas do, but with an added depth to it that the green teas don’t have. The flavor is also quite regal and truly creamy! I feel, each time I take a sip, that there must have been cream put in it or something! But there is not! Someone has to try this with cream because I am curious as to whether the texture will change.

The flavor has changed somewhat since I last tried it. Still good but i honestly wish i could taste thr base. It’s almost too perfumy for me now.

I was very curious when I ordered this (the name “icewine” was interesting!) and I was not disappointed with my purchase. It is a flavored black tea, and the flavor is delicate but definitely something so different I noticed right away. It tastes like a cool faint grape, with a tinge of the flavor that a lighter wine carries. It is hard to describe because the flavor seems to morph with every sip I take. Definitely interesting and enjoyable.

My husband and I love this tea. It’s so smooth and the somewhat root beer/sarsaparilla hints are so lovely. It’s also good cold. Update: Still love this tea ten years later. Different patch of tea btw. Not the same bag. The aroma is so calming mint, eucalyptus, slight vanilla, and chamomile. Though the wintergreen is strong all around in the aroma and flavor. Vanilla seems a little less in this batch. If you are looking for a tisane to unwind with, this is the perfect one.

Delicious! My husbands favorite tea. He loved the dry smell so he had to try it out and now it’s his favorite. Can be steeped for a long time without getting bitter seems to get sweeter.
