I haven’t really been around on Steepster a lot recently. I have just been busy with other things. And I have also settled into drinking the same old teas. The ones I really like. And I am ok with that. So I have struggled a little bit with getting reviews posted of the teas from this box.

I mis-read this one to be la cerise. So I was expecting cherry. But it is definitely not that. So my brain and my taste buds were in this little ninja fight because the taste wasn’t matching up with what my brain was expecting. Then I figured it out.

The tea smells very rich. There are notes of sweet vanilla and some dark cocoa notes. The liquor is very thick feeling. There are flavours of vanilla mixed with cocoa. It is sweet but not too sweet. There is a very creamy texture and flavour to this tea. Even though this one is a black tea base, I feel like it could definitely be a green. There is a very slight grassy note to the taste.

After trying this tea, then reading the reviews, I definitely get a different taste then most other people.

The dry tea and brewed tea smells like creamy blueberry. Which I was not expecting at all.

The brewed tea is very thick, milky and creamy. There is a definite cornflower petal taste. The black base is very light and smooth. The only fruit taste I am getting is blueberry, no strawberry. The blueberry may be a bit of the rhubarb but I wouldn’t have guessed that without reading the description of this tea.

It is definitely good. I like the creaminess of this tea. It feels like a very luxurious tea.

This one has been on my wishlist forever so I am excited to try it.

The dry tea smells very light, slightly floral, with a bit of sweet citrus.

The tea brews up moderately dark. The black tea base is light and creamy. There are subtle floral hints. There is a candy-like citrus profile. I don’t get much bergamot flavour though. The tea is just the tiniest bit astringent at the end.

This tea reminds me of a tea you would serve at a party or something. I quite like it and I am glad to have had the opportunity to try it.

This was enjoyable. Citrus and floral were the most prominent notes for me. These are not my favourite notes in tea so it wouldn’t be something I would order but I’m glad I got to try it. Sometimes tastes change, so every now and then I try something again to see if my tastes have in fact changed!

This was a lovely tea with prominent notes of strawberry and rhubarb. I am not sure that I would have picked out those flavours though if I would have tasted this blind. It is slightly floral in the black tea base, or maybe due to the addition of the flower petals. Very enjoyable.

I really enjoy vanilla teas and this one is no exception. It is smooth, with just that little hint of Darjeeling. The vanilla tastes fairly natural and just a little sweet. There is a slight astringency in the aftertaste.

Mmm, I cold brewed this tea and it was delicious. The cherry was delicate but not completely fake.

I have never had a French tea before, so I was excited to try it.

This is a beauty of a tea, if not a touch delicate. The cocoa and cherry are barely there but sure make for a smooth cuppa. The base is nice, a little on the delicate side as well, but very tasty!

Like Sil has mentioned in her notes, I might try a longer infusion next time to see if the flavours come out a little more.

Another sipdown and man am I going to miss this tea! It tastes of the most luscious yet delicate red berries… Almost like the first berries of the season, not overly juicy like the over ripe berries at the end of summer that you want to make into jams or pies but instead light and delicate, the type of berries you want to just eat straight off the bush and savor the complexity… Hmm, I think I should do some baking soon :)

This tea really reminds me of times backcountry camping in Alaska in Summer when we would come across wild blueberries and devour them straight off the bush, sweet yet tart and oh so juicy (except this tea tastes like strawberries, rhubarb and cherries not blueberries!)

An amazing spring tea treat!

A friend kindly served me a cup of this tea! The aroma and taste are very calming and goes down smooth. The fancy nylon teabag is a nice touch as well :) The jasmine and lemon are definitely at the forefront however there is a subtle scent of lavender. Definitely to be enjoyed on special occasions!

A Chinese black tea mingled with red fruits (strawberry, raspberry, cherry and redcurrant). A delicious aroma for an exquisite and delightful break.
I take it with a little milk and stevia.

Light, bright, clean black tea that doesn’t need milk or sugar to make it a delicious treat (and I almost always add milk and sugar to my black teas so this is really something).

This tea has a warm orangey-brown liquor, and powdery smell like rocket candies and pineapple when brewed. The tea has citrusy sweet notes, but they float on top of the strong base of a delicious blend of refined black teas that lack any bitter astringency, a smooth and sippable charm I’ve found in Ladureé’s Jardin Bleu and Ladurée blends as well.

Used boiling water. Waited 2 min. Sniffed. Spinach instead of the lemon I was expecting. Sip. Down sink.

It’s a sad tea story for this tea.

I did have this in a travel mug, with milk, steeped at a higher temperature than I would usually make tea at. So. We’ll see how it does at home in a regular mug. :)

I’ve been absent for quite a while. But that is only because I have been traipsing through Europe. I’m not going to lie, it was amazing.

I picked up some really great teas. Not as many as I would have like to but they only let you bring back so much. Ha ha. Someone in customs needs to really start drinking tea so they would just understand.

This is the only Laduree tea I picked up. There were so many I wanted to get it was hard to decide.

This was smells beautiful. It is very citrusy, slightly floral.

The tea base is moderately bold, it is bolder than I thought it would be, I feel like there is a slight smokiness to the base. I know this sounds weird but the smokiness makes the tea more “garden-like”. There are notes of citrus, more so grapefruit I think. There is a floral undertone, it is definitely rose. There is a slight sweetness to the tea. I think if there was a bit of rock sugar added it would really make the citrus flavours pop. This tea is really smooth.

Impressed with this one. I am happy this is the one I chose.

Mastress Alita’s Sipdown Challenge March 2022: French tea

Down to four March sipdown prompts left, heh. I’ve been a bit busy lately and not drinking a ton of tea, but trying to get back to it.

Still enjoy the flavour in this one, kind of a tart fruit with a hint of cream. Pretty tasty.

A share likely from Sil, this tea didn’t really have any aroma dry, but the cup had a really nice (though light) sort of… blue raspberry flavour? (I’m probably swayed by “bleu”, but it was definitely a fruity, somewhat tangy, flavour). It was really quite nice, although that flavour mysteriously had dissipated by the time I finished the cup in the morning.

Another sample from Sil :) I’m very impressed with this one; it pretty much tastes like the most satisfying fruity black ever. Juicy and fruity (as Sil said, like a red fruits-type tea), with a bit of sweet-tartness to give it an edge. Not perfumey or overly floral. It’s really quite enjoyable, with a lovely fruity/creamy aftertaste.

2022 Sipdown 158/365!

All I remember is that this was still good!

Grabbed a delicious-smelling sample of this from Sil, and am not regretting it in the least. It’s a lovely vanilla tea (though more of a flavoured vanilla than vanilla bean), and I only discovered that it was not a standard black tea base when reading her notes tonight. Oh well, don’t think it affected anything! I think it tastes a bit too “flavoured” for it to be a tea I’d drink overly often (whereas something like Golden Orchid, I could drink almost daily), but would serve as a great treat tea.

Also, I drank this despite the fact that WHILE BREWING, I noticed that apparently there was a spiderweb in my infuser. AKA I live in a basement, and while the infuser was drying in the drying rack (maybe it had been there 1-2 days?), a spider decided to build a web in it. This is not the first time this has happened (although previously it has been in tea-filled infusers that have been sitting for a while, and I’ve noticed before re-steeping, and opted to toss the tea and thoroughly clean the infuser). Anyhow… here’s hoping I did not get extra flavour from well-boiled spider in this tea. :(

Another tea sample that i acquired at Saturday’s tea meet, this one via the lovely sil.

I read her tasting note about it and saw that she wasn’t getting as much flavour as she wanted with a shorter steep, so I opted for a full five minutes, because the smell of this tea is divine. You can smell the vanilla and caramel, and something about it just smells so high quality for lack of a better term. To the point where it’s verging on something else, although i can’t quite put my finger on it. Candied pralines, maybe? Anyway, it definitely smells like a French bakery. Unfortunately, the scent doesn’t really persevere into the flavour, or rather it’s much more delicate and significantly muted. That said, it was still a delightfully delicious cup, and I have plans to finish off the sample in a larger mug. French teas can be quite overwhelmable in my experience, so sometimes they do require a bit of tinkering.
