Sangria from Leaves of Tea

This is okay.
I asked for samples from this tea company back when I first began drinking loose leaf tea so probably about 6 months ago perhaps. It was around the time I joined steepster. Anyway when I first got the teas I tired several – they were very generous with their samples.
I was not impressed.
So I have been letting them sit trying to find the mood and time to try again.
I think perhaps the flavors have had more time to meld maybe or settle but this one is much better this time around OR I now know more of what to look for.
Either way its not something I can’t live without but I also would not toss it out.
There is a bit of an oily like flavor to it which I do not find myself fond of. I find this oily flavor often in David’s teas – not all but most.
The oily flavor is slight though.
Then there is this taste much like Harney and Son’s Boston blend which is a black tea flavored with Cranberry.
Its not the same but similar.
The one very cool thing about Leaves of Tea is they have a HUGE “Twine” selection which is nice.
On the other hand if you are going to have Twines as a major draw you should probably want to perfect them as well.
So far this is the first I have tired since letting them sit and I have about 6 samples of different twine flavors here.
Again this is not bad but just not as distinct as I would like.
If they could get rid of this oily flavor and make it a bit more TWINEY I think it would be a true winner!

Strawberry Champagne from Leaves of Tea

I’m still contemplating this one, but think I should put a note out anyway.

It’s good…..problem is, I’m not old enough for alcohol, so I can’t say I identify the tastes in this tea as champagne, because I’ve never had it, or if I have had sips it was way long ago at the last wedding I went to.

So yeah, it’s good. But I can’t taste strawberry much, and….I don’t know. Maybe I’ll let it cool.

Update: The more I drank, the less I liked, though after cooling the strawberry did come out more. I think I also steeped this wrong. Because it did have promise. Ah well.

Peach Chardonnay Twine from Leaves of Tea

Very nice chilled. I think it makes the flavor profiles more prominent. The “twine” flavor comes out more now. :)

Peach Chardonnay Twine from Leaves of Tea

I received many samples of Twines from Leaves of Tea.
This is the first one I have had time to sit down and review.
Being completely new to Twines I wanted to take time to really give it my focus.
First of all I love peach and, well, I used to love chardonnay. Still do but no longer drink alcohol. So this is nice.
The peach is subtle but present. A juicy ripe peach absent of chemical artificial flavorings. This is a plus!
The base is a very basic black tea. I am not picking up any finer qualities however I am also not getting any astringency or bitterness. A very nice subdued black base.
The aroma is also quite lovely of ripe peach and the slight scent of a dry white wine.
On the sip – toward the back edges of the tongue you get a tingly sensation.
The more the tea cools the more sweetness and flavor tends to come out. For this reason I am going to chill the rest of this steep and report more later.
Thanks to Leaves of Tea I have a generous sample here and enough for one or two more cups!
