Thank you Devilish for sharing this one with me.
It’s a weird tea, very sugary. I have some difficulties to detect really pistachio and coconut flavours because they are very mixed.
Coconut comes very strongly on the aftertaste and lingers.

EDIT : cooling, I get the pistachio taste ! very powerful strangely as not detectable hoter.

I am not sure the aromas are 100% natural but I appreciated this tea. Nice to have it with my homemade quatre quart au citron.

Pistachio sounds great in a tea!

Ysaurella

yes I love pistachio :)

Fjellrev

Mmm pistachio.

Hallieod

Have you had Butiki’s Pistachio Ice Cream? That’s green instead of black, but absolutely delicious!

Ysaurella

yes Hallie, I have it in cupboard, I like it very much :)

Hallieod

Great. I was going to send you some, but was too tired to work my way through your tealog to check instead of asking!

Got this as a sample from Lupicia. This is a really good subtle flavored black blend. The strawberry and vanilla are so light it works with the black tea beautifully. Next time I have some of this I would definitely like to try adding some milk, maybe make it a latte. I feel the flavors would work really well as a latte.

In the cup at work today.

This was the tea we recommended to trend-hopping puer drinkers back in my cafe days. You know, the ones who specifically asked for it because it would supposedly make them thinner. I forgot I still had it in my stash and was in the mood for puer.

Dry, this stuff can have the notorious fishy odor of puer as an aftersmell when it’s fresh but it’s not unpleasant. Then again, I like barbecued sardines so fishy isn’t really a problem.

Drinking it, I remembered why we rec’d it to first-timers. It’s all strawberry in the cup and on the tongue, no discernible chocolate to me but still good. Even my tea-drinking high schoolers who usually ask to try whatever weird tea I have really enjoyed it.

It also doesn’t taste a bit like puer, which is supposed to be a little challenging. This puer is tasty, but also a bit like drinking Tennessee Honey and telling yourself you like Jack Daniels.

oof, my stash of this was so gigantic I somehow managed to not notice that this one got the axe. What a shame, it’s a tea for all seasons. Better enjoy the last few cups I have left of this stuff! It was the namesake-house tea for an old barista gig and it makes me really nostalgic. I also used to make awesome tea shortbreads with this stuff baked inside. Anyway, for history: good French vanilla front with a really easy blueberry back, not tart in the least. Cornflowers for funsies (and pretty shortbread!), delicious iced with milk and just a bit of vanilla syrup. Unlike a lot of Lupicia teas, this one doesn’t hold up to a 2nd steep.

I purchased a pack of teabags of this from the store in San Francisco because I really love blueberry teas. Admittedly, I had no idea was cassis was, but the smell was what won me over. After initially brewing for 3 minutes, I found the flavor to not be strong enough and fell a little flat. The second time I gave it 5 minutes and flavors came out much better but still unlike the smell out of the bag (like others have mentioned). I found that adding a bit of sugar helped bring out the berry flavor a bit more. Though a touch disappointed by the smell/taste discrepancy, I still enjoyed this tea.

Very mild black tea at base. The vanilla-strawberry notes are more in the nose than on the tongue but that’s exactly how I like my dainty-flavored teas. This gets a rare 100; whenever I want vanilla black tea this is what I reach for. I also like to make double-strong for sweetened milk tea. Heavenly.

drank Grapefruit Green by Lupicia

This is one of my favorite iced teas. I use 1 tbsp + lucky extra bit per 14oz steeper, let steep no more than one minute, then let it cool so it comes through undiluted.

It’s not strong tasting, but the lightness of it is really appealing for everyday iced tea. A hint of grapefruit’s brightness and pleasant grassy notes.

However, this tea is finicky. I literally stand by the steeper and smell, pouring it out as soon as it gets grassy. Steeping this one even a little too long makes it a bitter no-go. I also think this tea is terrible hot, but I think that’s just me.

I’ve been drinking this for the past couple of days and have been getting markedly more peach flavor than I did when I first tried it (and wrote my initial tasting note). Although this black base is still not my all-time favorite, now that I’m getting some peach notes I’d actually say the base works better with peach than it does with some of Lupicia’s other flavorings. I’m raising my score several points.

Rie

Are you also finding Lupicia’s lighter tea bases to be better than the black tea base?

greenteafairy

I am – I think the bases they use for their greens tend to work quite well with the flavorings. They’re not very strong or vegetal, but I actually prefer that in a base for a flavored blend (though I enjoy stronger greens on their own). I’ve only had two Lupicia oolongs, one of which I loved but I know you didn’t(Ripe Mango) and one of which I disliked just because it was pineapple and I don’t really like pineapple. So I’ll withhold judgment there for now. I should say that I’m having trouble coming up with a flavored black tea I’ve really loved from any vendor(aside from chai, but that’s a different kind of thing), so it could well be that lighter flavored teas are more my thing. What have your experiences been with Lupicia’s bases?

Rie

I feel the same as you regarding their bases. The Ripe Mango oolong is pending final judgement (I think it’s a flavoring thing – needing to sit) but besides the black (so-so) and white (haven’t tried) all their other bases have worked so well with the tea. I wouldn’t be surprised if I changed my mind about the Ripe Mango either. I still have to try your Pineapple Oolong sample, that might happen today! I love pineapple.

I do like this Momo black, but I bet the genius flavoring would be enhanced by a better black base.

Decent, but still a bit of a disappointment. Although the dry leaf smells very strongly of gummy peaches, once the tea is brewed all I can smell or taste is the base. If I really focus I can maybe get a tiny hint of a peach note, but I was hoping for more than that. This has the same slightly smokey black base as the other flavored black teas I’ve tried from Lupicia. I don’t particularly think it plays well with fruity notes, to be honest. In cases of weaker flavoring (this tea, Framboise) it overwhelms the flavor profiles. Even in teas where the fruit flavors are stronger (Neptune, Strawberry), I just don’t find this base + fruit to make for awesome blends. I think it might be the smokiness that’s getting me, even though it’s not very strong and even though I don’t mind smokey black teas on their own.

It smelled delicious at the store, but when I brought the tea home, it smelled a lot stronger. The taste isn’t quite as pleasing as I imagined either. It has a peculiar taste, and reminds me a bit of children’s cough medicine… Maybe if I give it some time it will mellow down?

I’m finding it fairly interesting that in nearly all cases where I reviewed a tea like, 6 years ago, and am drinking the remainder now, my previous opinions approximately match my current ones (suggesting that teas don’t lose flavour as badly as one might think). Anyways, this tea. I’d rated it a 55. That seems pretty accurate, it is very boring and a bit astringent. I suppose I can taste a bit of peach, maybe, but this tea is basically the epitome of “flavoured green”. Bleh. Maybe I can pawn off the remaining teabags.

Sipdown, 775. Thanks to CHAroma for this teabag!

I think this one might have been a bit old, and the tea seemed a bit dusty when I opened the packet, so I’m not sure that this will be the most accurate review. The aroma is very classic Lupicia peach, but I’m not sure I am very fond of the green base. I’m generally not keen on green bases, so that’s not particularly surprising; I think I like the peach flavour better with a green oolong base.

The aroma of Strawberries and Vanilla come to mind when steeping this.

At first I thought I couldn’t taste the black tea but its blended well so that it doesn’t stand out. Overall, I like this tea – it is smooth so you barely taste any bitterness.

This would probably taste very good with milk and a bit of sugar.

(note: this does get a bit bitter if over-steeped; be careful with steeping time)

The dry tea smells like seaweed paper (think: sushi) to me. Once the water hit the tea, I immediately smelled toasted rice. The hot tea prominently tastes like toasted rice. But as the tea cooled, it began to get more of a green tea taste. The green tea does have a slight seaweed flavour to it. I find the tea to taste slightly salty. This is different then other genmaicha’s I have tried, but I think it is a different kind of green tea (and also the matcha). I like any food or tea made from a grain, and this genmaicha is no exception.

Thanks Sil for this sample!

Got a package of these tea bags in my lucky bag this year.

This tea is a winner. It smells exactly like ripe peaches. And even though I tend to prefer other summer fruits – even the nectarine! – to peaches, there’s no denying they smell delicious. This tea brews up into a light green-yellow color and retains a hint of that fruity aroma. It’s a light, refreshing oolong with a fruity complement. And yes, that fruit does taste like peaches. It reminds me a little of the skin off a fresh peach.

Brewing longer than 2 minutes brings out more of a green oolong flavor and is still tasty.

I am trying this tea for the first time.
The loose leaf tea contains small sugar crystals, which makes it nice to look at. The scent is noticeably cherry without being overpowering. When brewed, the tea has a light flavor, but not dull like some other decaffeinated teas can be. The flavor profile is there, but on the delicate side. A bit of milk in the tea is nice as well.

I’ve been to Hawaii only twice, but after buying a small tiny tin of this the first time, I learned my lesson and bought 150g the second time around. This tea is just phenomenal. The quality of the oolong is out of this world. This is a very, very fresh tasting tea. It’s sweet but not too sweet. Fruity, but not like an herbal/tisane.
There are tiny little confeito candies in the tea, probably flavoured with juice, which really gives it that sweet flavour. This tea needs no extra sweetening, it’s really quite fabulous without any added sweetener. My friends who don’t even drink tea are always impressed by this one as well. I think it’s one of my favourite oolongs. Lupicia really knows how to do oolong well.

This is a pretty little tea, with long, flat green tea leaves and large, sparkly sugar crystals. There are little blue petals and pink rose petals. The dry leaves smell lightly of juicy peach, and the aroma of the tea itself is very floral, with a note of sweet peach. The flavor is lightly grassy with a sweet finish. There is a fresh peach aftertaste that reminds me of eating peach icecream. In the little town that my mom lives in there is a small country icecream parlor that has the best peach icecream, with big chunks of peaches in the icecream, and this tea reminds me of that. It’s actually a pretty sweet cup on it’s own, but I added a little sugar to bring out more of the peachy flavor. I’m not really getting any vanilla from this, just a light grassy taste with a hint of fresh peaches. Very calming for an afternoon cup. Thank you, Mercuryhime, for this sample!!

-Dry blend has long flat green tea leaves with large sugar crystals, small blue petals and small pink rose petals.
-Dry leaves smell lightly of fresh peaches. Tea liquor aroma is floral with a note of sweet peaches.
-Tea liquor is a clear bright medium yellow color.
-Light grassy flavor with a sweet finish. Lingering fresh peach aftertaste.
-Best with sweetener.
-Good tea. A lightly flavored cup of fresh peaches.

Peach ice cream with chunks of peaches! Yum!!

It is the best icecream. I’m not a huge fan of peaches, but I do crave this icecream every time I think about it! :)

I think I was unfair to this tea before; it is in fact a step up from Twinings EB. As with many teas, I find I’m enjoying it more now that I’m paying minimal attention to steeping parameters – lots of leaf, long-ish steep, water at whatever temperature it is when it comes out of the dispenser at work. The Darjeeling’s coming through quite strongly, which I appreciate. Raising my score by several points.

This is a decent, basic black tea. It’s light and smooth; there’s no bitterness and not too much astringency. I can taste both the Assam and the Darjeeling, although the Darjeeling seems more prominent. There’s a fairly strong honey note, too. I wouldn’t buy this – I got my current supply in a 2013 Lupicia Happy Bag – since there are less expensive options that serve the same purpose (some Twinings blends come to mind). But it’s quite pleasant.
