My husband used to love Snapple cranberry tea (they have a cranberry/raspberry juice now, but it’s not the same).

At any rate, with summer weather finally coming at us, he is hoping to blend a taste-alike from scratch. This is what he brought home yesterday for its base, and I snagged a couple spoonfuls for my a.m. sip.

It’s a good, smooth, strong blend, with no particular in-your-face notes. Balanced and even. I steeped it strong with the intention of icing some down when I got to work, but that’s not gonna happen…almost gone!

Yeah, I’m sticking with my previous opinion…I can’t find the watermelon anywhere. However, it’s fruity and summery when you cold steep it (gave it a 5 minute start in the sunshine while I was hanging out clothes and picking our plum tomatoes … want some?) Threw it in the fridge with a sprig of apple mint. Not as advertised, but not bad!

After derk’s nice review of Trader Joe’s Watermelon Mint, and due to the lack of a TJ less than 2 hours away, I grabbed this for experimentation purposes on my last Natural Grocers run (they have a nice little bulk aisle with tea and lots of miscellany). The ingredient list (carrots, apple, melon, red beet) makes me feel virtuously healthy.

Hot, I wasn’t getting watermelon at all, just “pleasantly fruity.” Cold steeped in a mason jar, it’s detectible. Not overly sweet, but not nastily tart. Nice with a couple slices of lime.
