I bought this on a whim and it is decent. Not something I usually go for, but good once in awhile. I wish it was a bit spicier but it is overall well rounded in flavor.

made as directed with 8oz water and a (generous) splash of milk. Added chocolate flavored marshmallows because I’m trying to get rid of them.

It’s ok, for a powder, I guess… it’s not my ideal chai because a) powdered mix = flat taste b) too much cinnamon and not enough vanilla. It was a free sample, and worth every penny. Will drink but won’t buy.

I’ve had had good luck w/ mixes if they’re made entirely w/ milk or black coffee. Cutting the liquid volume down to 6oz also helps. My favorite coffee/ice cream shop uses this one and I always get it w/ 2 espresso shots (for a 12oz) and a scoop of ice cream in the bottom. YUM! Don’t get me wrong, I love my loose leaf chai, but sometimes I want something w/ a bit thicker/richer texture.

(backlogging)

Since I’m in a hotel, I can’t prepare chai the traditional way (no stovetop). A friend suggested that I try this as an alternative.

It was okay, not spectacular (didn’t compare at all with making chai with actual tea leaves and spices!).

I had a migraine, so I “got” to taste it again an hour later. Now I can’t stand to look at it. I don’t want to rate it because of that. I’ll try again in a few days.

Have you tried Trader Joe’s version? YUM! I’ll take a mix over a concentrate any day although this is good. My favorite cafe/ice cream shop uses it.

No. The only reason I was trying a concentrate is that I don’t have a stovetop in the hotel room. The town I"m in right now is pretty much the middle of no where – there’s no Trader Joes. I’m pretty much limited to what’s at Walmart.

I bought another chai mix – a powder…Pacific Chai. We’ll see how that goes.

Yeah a powder is what I mean when I say mix. I’m 2 hrs from a Trader Joe’s on a daily basis myself so I drink Pacific’s version when I’m too lazy to make my own. The texture is different from the stove top version but I find the flavor just as good.

poor denisend…your quest for a good chai while traveling is not going well. i’ve had this one before (in the powder form) and it was SUPER sweet…not great by any means but not god awful.

Hope you’re feeling better…
I thought this concentrate was pretty good mixed with the Tazo chai concentrate…the Tazo is more “chai” like and balances out the cane sugar taste of the Oregon chai.

Shanti – interesting idea, but I didn’t find the Tazo chai at the store. Oh well.

REALLY SWEET! But I can’t deny that I enjoyed it. If I didn’t know it packed a lot of calories, I would have had an immediate second cup. It was fast, simple, and fragrant (as a chai should be!). Still, I think it will probably be too sweet for some people, but I have a sweet tooth from years of drinking those awful flavored coffees from fast food chains. I will definitely want to keep this in my cupboard and try other products from Oregon Chai!

I discovered this in 1998. Fell in love. I could live on it! ~ Now, in 2013, I wonder if the formula’s been changed. My tongue says, “Less flavour; more sugar.” The brew seems thinner … Why is it that once a company gets big, the product quality goes down?

Overall, this is fine for when you’re at work or can’t take the time to make anything more complicated. I think there have been some changes to this mix over the last three years. It isn’t as sweet as it used to be. Also, it now has milk in it so it says you can “just add water” if you like. Of course I still used milk. ;)

This was my first introduction to chai, other than purchasing at STarbucks, etc. In retrospect, after tasting other chais, I find this too sweet and weak for my taste, needs more boldness and spice.

Okay so I Love Oregon Chai so much! So one day I decided since I have tried the Concentrate and Powdered Late Mix why not try the tea bags. At first I was expecting a lighter taste, one that wouldn’t be as flavorful as the Concentrate or the Mix but I was pleasantly surprised when I tried it and it was excellent! Exactly like it sister full body and flavor and I actually like it more considering in the other two I could not control how much sugar was in the other two and sometime (like when going to bed) I didn’t really want a super sweet tea, so this is perfect!

Okay so I am a Chai Fanatic and this was my very first Chai tea, and let me tell you I think it is a great into into Chai if you are a) New to Chai b) New to tea in general because you were transioning from coffee. The reason why I say this is because it is more like a supper sweet Cinomminy milky drink that you get when you add water to it. So yes this is a drink that a person that is just starting may like more then the tea from the Bag. If the person ends up liking it is really easy to get curious and want to try other Chai, and Teas in General so for me I love this tea because it opened my knowledge of Chai~! The taste is pretty good too! Like I said on the Sweet side but you can deffinitly taste the chai it is really enjoyable when it is cold!

Steepings

1st Steeping:
Water temperature: 200 Fahrenheit
Time: 4 minutes

I take one tea bag and put in my cup and pour in the boiled water, leaving to steep for several minutes. The spices fill the air around me immediately, and it is so warm and inviting encouraging me to take the cup and sip the tea…which is hot, so blowing away some of the heat so that my nose is tease further with the heady scent of the tea.

Tea’s color is brightly red and the aroma is that of spices from India I imagine yet it is South American spices infused with Yerba Mate, Guayusa and cinnamon, clove, ginger and Cardamom I further imagine is what I am met with when inhaling and tasting of this tea. It is a cup of warmth with nothing more needed, well a cozy nook of a corner by the window to watch the light coating of snow and take delight with living in this part of the world where seasonal changes occur and are at times quite pleasant.

Note: I started my day very sad/depressed if truth be told. I could not sleep because my living situation is so haphazard, it is my fault since I will not change my ways of being too proud and selfish. Household is unpleasant but only from my view. Anyhow, when I reached for teas to fix this morning it was the Oregon Chai tea that I reached for; so I took two tea bags and put them in my cup and added the boiling water to it; leaving it to steep for a good four minutes before I started drinking the tea.

I have said many times that the tea’s color and aroma is everything to having a good cup of tea. If it smells nice; as this smells wonderfully of spices (cinnamon, cardamom, cloves and ginger…) and the color is caramel like, toffee even since it is darker with two tea bags immersed in the water for steeps. When I take a sip, it is cinnamon and gingerly piquant. It stimulates me to sip and sip all the more; and so I did just that, hoping to not see the unpleasantness in front of me; or as I say, it is my view (if changed slightly) it would not be unpleasant. The tea gave me strength, to just keep quiet and not say stupid things as I tend to.

This chai has much potential from creaminess in texture with the adding of milk or soy and sugar if desired.

I have seen Oregon Chai is a box like that would contain soy milk but have not viewed it closely.

Note: It has been mid-day for sometime now and a cup of chai tea is what I need just now. I take one tea bag and put it in my cup and I add the boiling water and let it steep for few minutes.

The tea’s color is lovely dark amber. And the tea smells wonderfully of the chai (Cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, allspice, nutmeg) spices. I can’t discern them all, but I do recognize the cinnamon, ginger root; which makes the tea piquant. The clove with the anise seed gives this tea that licorice and sweetly taste.

This magical blend of authentic chai spices is just as is stated on the box: reaching new altitudes in an exhilarating herbal infusion of Yerba Mate and Guayusa which are naturally energizing. A blend assured to open your eyes and focus your mind.

Steepings I find that I can steep this tea using the same tea bag numerous times since the spices are so rich and flavorful.

1st Steeping:
Water temperature: 199 Fahrenheit
Time: 4 minutes

Note: I took one tea bag and place this in my cup and add the boiling water into my cup and cover the tea for few minutes. I can smell the spices right away; filling the air around me with notes like: Cloves, ginger, cardamom and cinnamon; tea really has a lovely aroma when I remove the cover / saucer. Tea color seems dark at first then greenish like. I take a sip of the tea and I am met with a spicy cup; with another sip and another I am reminded of Rooibos teas I have had; that of Trader Joe’s Red Rooibos.

Tasting wise it seems to be exactness in the spices to be found in rooibos teas whose color is usually reddish amber, or red tea.

2nd Steeping:
Water temperature: 200 Fahrenheit
Time: 5 minutes

Note: Steeping the tea longer and using the same tea bag does not seem to have changed at all. Tea color is same darkly greenish brew with a spicy aromatic blend.

In all this tea is an exhilarating herbal infusion of Yerba Mate and Guayusa botanical filled with energy to awaken the senses, open your eyes and experience better focus.

You know the song: I can see clearly now that the rain is gone…clarity is achieved!

Bought this on-sale at the Old Fashioned Foods, not sure how “old fashioned” chai latte mix is, really.

It’s not bad in a pinch, when you’re craving a chai latte, but don’t want to go through the trouble of boiling up tea, spices, + milk on the stove for 10 minutes. I agree with others that it’s rather sweet, so much so that I added extra milk just to mellow it out a bit. Not getting any of that strange aftertaste that people keep mentioning…

My sister bought me this a few years ago for Christmas and I liked it. She bought me more last Christmas, and I decided to have some last night. After dinner I wanted something quick and sweet and this fit the bill.

If you’ve never had it before, this is black tea powder, sugar, dried whole & nonfat milk (why both I ask myself?), dried honey and natural flavors. Now I don’t consider this a true Chai-mainly because of the tea powder. It does have plenty of other delicious flavors, and tastes like a sweet Chai tea. IMO, it is too sweet, and the black tea flavor is there, but not strong enough.

It is a dessert Chai, and that being said was just what I was in the mood for. It is delicious, and quick. I also prepared two other quick teas, so I could watch the 136th Annual Westminster Dog Show! :)) I love dogs (and most animals), and I watch it every year. So, I began preparing two other teas I’ll review later. I spent the next 3 hours watching the competition next to my dog Lotis. :)) More on him later!

A pretty classic chai flavor. I don’t really taste the rooibos and honeybush much. They’re probably doing some background work. While it was okay, the flavor was pretty weak. I’d probably use two teabags next time.

Anyway, it fulfilled my craving for a caffeine-free chai before bed. :) I added a bit of almond milk and honey, but I think I like it better plain.

This was the first Chai I ever tasted. That’s not saying much, since I’ve only had two others for reference. I love it. I adore strong tea with milk and honey, and Oregon chai is made for that combination. It’s not quite sweet enough for me, so I add sugar or vanilla espresso flavoring syrup. The other chai teas I’ve tried have been way too spicy and harsh for my taste, so I’m guessing this may be mellower than others. In my area most espresso shops offer this on their menu, and it’s a favorite of mine.

I was intrigued by a bagged honeybush chai put out by such a specialized company when honeybush is so new to the American market. Given this speedy release, I expected it to be fresher than bagged usually is and worth a try.
It was not a disappointment and much fresher than most bagged teas. I was wary of the cloves, which are always over powering but this is well balenced and survived in coconut milk. I couldn’t taste the honeybush or rooibos (thankfully) so its unique selling point is nominal, but as a caffeine free chai masala it succeeds.
