Made this one for the wife as she did not enjoy the Pu Erh all that much and I had ordered a batch from Schrader. She absolutely loved it – she raved so much about it I had to have a few sips to try. Delicious. Fragrant. Sweet but not sickly.

This definitely could become a family favourite.

Tried this when I got home after dinner as an evening treat since it arrived today in the mail. My first pu erh. I did not use the first steep, but tried the second and the third.

Smells of hay bales, not unpleasantly so. Taste was quite light, though distinct, given the very dark liquor. Probably did not use enough – I used one “hat” in almost a litre of water. Schrader recommends using 3 per litre. Hmmm. Might try that some other time.

Certainly not something I would drink every day, but a treat after rich food on cold days, or as a pleasantly earthy breakfast drink.

Quick loss of flavour within 10 days despite of careful storage. More bitter smell and less taste than previously, but overall still good.

No nice green colour, no good foam. Taste is not good. Quite bitter and no enjoyable sweetness.
