Smells like home. This + a splash of milk and I’m good to go on rushed mornings. I depend on it quite a bit.

After reading these reviews, it is nice to hear that this tea is available in Canada, as I purchased mine from South Africa (I live in the U.S).

This tea was recommended to me by a British friend, who told me that you could let it steep as long as you want it and it never gets bitter/astringent/tannic. And she is right. It is pretty standard “black-tea” flavored; reminiscent of Liptons. Nothing special, but none of the tannic element that I dislike so much in oversteeped tea.

I find it is a really good tea for keeping in my desk at work. I don’t really have the time to make myself a good cup of tea, but this does the trick when I need a nice warm cup in the afternoon.

It is prett

For the last 3 years Red Rose Original has been my good to tea. I have always enjoyed this tea. Frankly until recently I wouldn’t touch any other type of tea. I recently started trying loose teas and while I enjoy those teas I always make sure I have a box of my favorite “store” brand in the cupboard.

It was always one my grandmother drank, so the memories when sipping this tea brings me back to when I was little visiting. I like it steeped strong, usually one bag in the cup and always with a little milk and sugar.

So I’ve had a hardcore flu since Sunday morning. I’m so miserable right now, omg. Even tea isn’t soothing my throat because I’ve coughed it raw kfhaksdf. I’ve taken to just holding the warm mug against my throat ahahah.

If I die, I love you all tons and I bequeath my tea collection to you.

Aww. That’s about the saddest thing. I hope you start feeling better soon. Lemon or licorice tea don’t help? :(

Kittenna

Oh no! That sounds terrible! :( Hope you’re starting to recover by now!

Pretty good for grocery store bagged tea. Better than Lipton and most other major brands. Makes a nice cup of tea just like I remember as a kid. I think in Canada red rose is owned by Lipton, so I’m talking about the American version. comes with a collectible figurine which I collect for awhile then toss.

I like to drink this steeped in milk with a bit of sugar in it.

I’m not much of a straight black tea kind of girl, but I do enjoy orange pekoe in latte form :P

I was a little skeptical but this tea smelled so divine I couldn’t pass it up! It smells like fresh baked lemon pie or lemon bars. The smell alone makes this a wonderful tea. It’s not bitter.

And the taste? Tastes just like fresh baked lemon pie. This is a great tea that I think I’ll have to buy more of!

This is a pleasant spice tea that’s got a strong orangey citrus flavor to it. Not exceptional, but if you want something with general spice and citrus notes in a pinch, it’ll do!

Sad to say, I don’t like ordinary Red Rose because it tastes a bit ‘woody’ and flat in flavour. However, RR Canadian Breakfast has more ‘flowery’ or ‘fruity’ flavour and a nice sweetish finish. I love this blend. Some have said it tastes like PG Tips, but I wouldn’t know. I like stronger teas like the Tetley Strong or Dilmah Strong Tea. RR’s Canadian Breakfast is both stronger and sweeter than the ordinary RR.

This good, economical bagged black tea was in every household when I was growing up. It still tastes good.

We used to drink it as they do in parts of Germany, with freshly squeezed lemon juice. As a boy, sitting at the table under the sparkling light from the chandelier, I enjoyed watching the red-brown colour change to a sunny gold as I stirred the juice into the porcelain teacup. The flavour became somewhat tart, complementing the fine, whipped cream covered, fresh fruit tortes my mother, grandmother and great-grandmother used to bake.

For breakfast, I douse it with a lot of milk and leave the bag in my mug to get every last molecule of flavour. Put some Suraj tea masala (ground spice mixture from Superstore’s Indian aisle) into the water as it is heating to make your own authentic chai. Add further ground spices to adjust the flavour to your taste. Serve with hot milk. The robust tea flavour shines through admirably.

Unappealing. After the decaffeination process, there is little flavour left. It is muddy and brownish with a dull, nondescript taste. With milk, it is thin, watery and greyish. Chemical residues are not appealing, either. I have given up on decaffeinated teas and coffees. There are many naturally caffeine-free beverages to enjoy.

My boss drinks this by the bucket full iced, and it’s agreeable. He gave two boxes of this. Although, they were opened but full, so I have to wonder if he’s collecting the included seasonal figurines that are inexplicably absent. =D

Jillian

Too bad the figurines are no longer distributed in Canada. I have a few from when I was a little girl that my grandmother gave me – she loved Red Rose tea. :)

Hands down my favourite plain, bagged tea! So much flavour and great with sugar, milk, both, or nothing! <3

Feh.
I signed up just to warn people away from this. No, it’s not overtly bad, but the cardamom and cinnamon overwhelm the supposed Ceylon base for this tea. I suppose I got spoiled by the Indian programmer who used to make tea with cardamom for me: fresh cardamom is aromatic but still lets you enjoy the base tea leave it’s complementing.

I find this tea to be near the bottom of the barrel, especially since it’s found at the bottom of the grocery store shelves, as well. I chose this over Lipton because it was the same price for double the amount of bags, and at the time I was going through a lot of tea bags in iced tea. This tea, no matter how I’ve made it (and I prefer to avoid sugar and milk in all of my teas) seems to come out bland and bitter, and like candy corn, every time I forget just how bad it really is. This box was the first and last time I’ll buy it.

My staple tea for orange pekoe in bagged form. I tend to only use it now when travelling because I’m addicted to my looseleaf, but it is by far superior to me than Tetley or Lipton or PG Tips.

**Note on my steeping time . . . I’m a bag-in girl with this one, with added milk and sugar.

I love this tea. I always drink it with milk and sugar. It’s the tea that I always fall back to when I’m just wanting something quick and simple, but delicious. It’s the tea that I always go to when I need a quick wake-up in the morning, or if I don’t feel very great in the morning.

Update: So, I tried to make myself a pot of this tea on the weekend, and I just couldn’t drink it… I felt so bad ‘cause normally I love this tea, but this time… It wasn’t good. I think my taste buds must be changing. Like I said, normally I love this tea, but I just couldn’t do it.
I think now I just prefer the fresher taste that loose-leaf teas have to offer. Sorry Red Rose Orange Pekoe! :(

As a kid, I used to drink Lipton only when I was sick, or on rare occasions doused with sugar. My Grandpap reintroduced me to tea many years later, drinking Lipton, and occasionally bringing out Canadian Red Rose tea he would get when visiting his cousin in Toronto. He claimed that the Canadian Red Rose tea was better than the Red Rose sold in the US. So we would drink it, and I must admit that it really is better. So we would talk about almost everything, and he would play his Big Band music, watch British comedies and mysteries, and we would drink this tea. Paps is no longer with us, but I will always cherish the memories, and his influence on my life—and the tea!! :))

I usually drink this tea plain and steeped at 3:00-3:30, it is rather smooth, but bland when compared to better grades of tea. As an off the shelf supermarket tea, it is my favorite. If I steep it longer, sometimes I’ll add a dash of milk to soften it a little. I still drink this tea on occasion-once or twice a week sometimes-and remember Paps. Tonight I added a little bit of sugar like I used to years ago.

Tea drinking is an experience that should be fun and relaxing. If I rate this tea based on that and all the great memories, I’d have to give it 100. Based on flavor, it is about 61 to 64.

During the Holidays, however you celebrate them, remember to have a special cup of tea with loved ones, and create new memories; but, also try to remember all the positive people and memories that have influenced your life! :))
