I feel the stress of the day and it is only 7AM. Stress calls for me to try this tea. I purchased a sample box of 5 teas from Revolution yesterday and after getting them home and looking at them this morninging find them packaged very cute.
I am loving the mint smell of this tea. Going to go destress and drink my tea.

I just got home from a long day. I find this tea very relaxing and decided I wanted to sit and relax with another cup of this tea. I will keep this tea handy for a bedtime cup of tea. Ohhhh yessss…Today was not as bad I thought it might be (Yeah!) LoL…..

I discovered Revolution Tea at a restaurant in Uptown Minneapolis. Since then I have become a regular customer to their website (have an order in transit right now!). I love this Oolong. It’s mild and not too sweet. It is my very favorite iced tea. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find the pot sized canisters on the website for my last order, so I had to order the regular size. Oh, well. That way, if I just want a cup, I can have a cup!

This one is really exceptionally nice. I’d never found a tea that made Earl Grey as tasty in a green or white as in black before this one – found myself in a ridiculously overpriced café in Waterstone’s and had a cup of this. Then had to search for ages for somewhere to buy it here in Dublin! For me it’s a great green tea – not bitter at all – with just the right amount of bergamot – not overpowering but not anemic either.

Meh…I’m just not loving it. Thought the first time was a one off and tried steeping for various times based on other people’s recommendations but I have to say the overwhelming flavour in this tea seems to be dust…with a faint trace of pear at the end. Definitely a disappointment

This was quite yummy with a splash of skim milk this morning. The lavender is less pungent but it gives the tea an intriguing herbal flavour to it. I could readily see this tea taking over as one of my default morning bagged tea.

This tea has been on my Shopping List for a long time and luckily TeaEqualsBliss sent me a couple sachets in our most recent tea trade.

It has a very nice smell – nicely tea-like with a hint of flowery-pungent lavender. It wasn’t so pungent as to be overpowering, nor was it that sweetly-fake smell you sometimes get in lavender-scented products – it was nicely balanced in between these two extremes.

The base is decent enough for a bagged tea – not tasting too harsh nor too dusty and tasteless. The bergamot was reasonaby mild-tasting and it made an interesting mix with the flavour of the lavender. They’re both plants that have a pungency to them so they make a good flavour pairing in my opinion.

The resteep (@ 5:30) unfortunately was pretty nasty – it tasted like watery tea crossed with that taste you get from undercooked pasta – ew! It went down the sink.

Bought this on a whim. One of my very favorite teas is Earl Grey and one of my favorite scents is lavender. I’m quite impressed with this tea and will definitely buy it again!

drank Bombay Chai Tea by Revolution Tea

I looove chai, but generally choose to make a sort of pseudo-chai using just the spices, so as to refrain from consuming the caffeine. Feeling a bit woogy this morning I thought I’d give this chai a go- and it’s pretty mediocre. Just … vaguely chai spiced. (Not as good as the masala chai from SpecialTeas). I thought the cinnamon chips would stand out, but I don’t taste them at all.

Chai is, however, really great for soothing the tummy.
I accidentally oversteeped this one, and it still tastes a bit…pale… glad that the black tea didn’t turn bitter.

You know, the tea bag seemed a bit under-filled. I know a cup of tea always uses far less loose tea than I expect, but it still looked a bit sad. Revolution teas are always overpackaged, but they’d make good stocking stuffers or care-package add-ons. I’m gravitating towards tea bags as I am heading off to a scary language-intensive training program that involves living in a dorm. I am far too old for dorm living.

you don’t seem to be having much luck with Revolution Tea

Lisbet

Nah, they’re all fairly crappy so far. Totally unimpressed.

TeaEqualsBliss

Which others have you tried so far!? There are a few I like!!!!

Try giving this one a whirl. If I had any left in my stash I would gladly send it your way…but…I’m fresh out…sorry!

Kristin

This brand has some promise (I almost liked the alpine berry… almost) – http://steepster.com/companies/two-leaves-and-a-bud

SoccerMom

hee hee to “feeling a bit woogy” I was with you on the woogy feeling this am.

Lisbet

@TeaEqualsBliss Mmmm ginger peach does sound good- I have liked their orange-cocoa green before and their earl grey lavender, but that was it among those I’ve tried.

@Kristin- I think I’ve tried some teas from that company before- they used to sell them at one of the student UofChicago shops.

@SoccerMom – even though I am safely indoors I am blaming the weather ;)

drank White Tangerine by Revolution Tea
267 tasting notes

This brewed really dark for a white tea- as dark as a black tea, actually. Not promising. I’m also discovering that it really doesn’t taste like tangerines, or like much of anything. (I swear, my palette is fine this weekend!) I was kinda unimpressed by this tea in the bag too, as it looked a bit sawdusty. I do smell the tangerine in the form of a kind of bitter orange rind, but it just doesn’t come through in the flavor… or, if it does it’s doing too close of an impersonation of plain black tea for me to be that thrilled.

Well, my headache came back, and I was reading that mint tea can cure headaches (it’s even in the description on here). Don’t get me wrong, I popped an ibuprofen first, but I’m finding what is essentially a plain mint tea to be very calming right now. I don’t think there’s anything special about this at all- but sometimes that’s what I’m in the mood for. Mint tea, unlike my previous teas of the day, is a great antidote to the hot, humid weather. It cools my mouth and body, despite being hot.

I think what I’ve learned on steepster today is that there is a restaurant called P.F. Chang’s- actually, I do think I remember passing by it in Chicago when I lived there. That said, I am actually drinking this at home as part of a Revolution sampler pack (love sampler packs…) Dragon Eye is a really nice oolong, with just a hint in it of what tastes like peach- but just a hint. It really is very relaxing somehow, and I’m glad that I wound up inadvertently trying it among my miscellaneous samples. I’m about to sound like a broken record here, but this’d be a really good iced tea.

I’m not sure a strawberries n’ cream Kitkat from Japan would ever be a recommended pairing with this, but I went ahead and took that risk anyway. When I went to the Tea tastings at Tea Gschwendner they frequently gave us pieces of Vosges chocolates to go with whatever tea we were sipping. My husband thought the chocolate blunted the tea too much, but I loved the combination.

Kristin

Ooo. strawberries and cream kitkat!

Lisbet

Yeah, and it’s vegan too! I got a bunch from a friend in Japan :D Other weird international foods that are vegan – steak n’ onion crisps from the UK (and all of their other potato chip flavors- prawn, ham n’ pickle, roast beef, roast chicken, etc.) The girl who got me to try those is a British vegan and those are her secret vice ;)

Kristin

No way! I didn’t think it would be. :) If I ever see those when I travel, I’ll have to try one.

Lisbet

My bad, it wasn’t strawberries and cream, it was ‘strawberry cranberry’ – that’s why it was vegan :) A lot of the ones sold only in Japan are- but not all of them I’d imagine. The green tea one looks too close to white chocolate.

The cute little boxes are admittedly totally unnecessary- and disguise, I think, pretty mediocre tea. I think this might just be plain honeybush-and the caramel tacked onto the name to describe a characteristic of the honeybush itself. Mostly this tastes of pencil shavings- take the taste of rooibos and make it just a little dryer. Not very tasty at all, no sir.

Heh. pencil shavings.

drank White Pear by Revolution Tea
220 tasting notes

A palatable white tea, but where is the pear? I ended up ripping open 3 bags and infusing them in a 400ml pot and still there wasn’t a pear in sight. Perhaps my expectations were too high after the bar set by the delightfully juicey and full-flavoured White Peach? Either way, a sad and disappointing tea experience on a dreary and cold Saturday afternoon.

A flavourful brew bursting with fruity and floral goodness. I heart this tea!

For the first 2-3 minutes of steeping, this tea produces a strong and distinctive aroma of pomegranate. Letting it steep longer brings out the floral aromas. You can steep this tea for as long as you like and it doesn’t have a bitter or sour taste. If you look close enough, you’ll be able to spot bits of dried pomegranate seeds in each teabag.

I love the 2nd brew best**. It’s the perfect beverage to start your day with. (:

**Add brown sugar or honey for best results.

I’ve missed this tea too. Light, flavourful, pear. The white tea is the prominent taste, but the pear is in there, faint and very refreshing. And I’ve got a whole box to enjoy.

I proclaimed this to be a Finish Up All Samples and Singles day. Although yesterday I proclaimed that today would be a Go To Winners And Buy Hazo Teas day.

I might still do the latter. I don’t know how well I’m doing with the former. I don’t really have any more samples I can finish up in one cup. And I’m unable to consume 8 cups + of tea in one day.

I let the water get a little too cold, and I guess as a result there wasn’t much of a pear flavour. It just tasted like white tea. Still nice, though. Tasty.

Pear pear pear. Unlike the Doctor (both the Tenth and the Seventh), I like pear. Love it, actually. Especially canned (although I find that many people dislike canned fruit due to the sugary syrupness); it goes well with vanilla icecream. And I needn’t bother with the skins when they’re canned. Plus, the brine is delicious to drink.

The smell of the dry leaves was faint but pleasant. The wet leaves and the tea itself hold a much stronger pear flavour, although it is slighty sugary (that is to say, more similar to canned pears than fresh pears).

Although if you really stick your nose in close, it smells more ‘fresh pear’.

This is another tea from Jillian (how did she know I loved pears!), and I got two teabags instead of one, so at least I have one more to try after this before I have to remove it from my cupboard.

The colour is darker than I expected it to be (I haven’t much experience with white teas except in Numi’s flowering white teas, which brew quite light), sort of a pale black tea colour. The pear smell is delicious, and I think I get a tea smell in there too, but fainter.

Don’t know what to say in terms of taste. Again, I barely remember my last experience with white tea, but this is light, like a very light black. Not vegetable and green (luckily!). There’s pear in there, and it’s pleasant and not artificial and too sweet. I’ve heard that whites can get quite bitter. The pear taste isn’t confined to an aftertaste, it’s there during the sip, but it’s very pleasantly light.

Daaaamn, I quite like this and I only have one teabag left. I wonder how many times you can resteep a white. Hmmm.

I’m glad you like it, hon. I got this tea at my local Safeway so odds are good you could pick a box up for yourself if you’re inclined. :)

Smells like rooibos with a hint of honey and burnt sugar. Tastes much sweeter than I expected (nothing added). The rooibos overpowers. For a blend that doesn’t even mention rooibos in the name, that’s not good. I think I’d rather have an actual caramel honeybush blend, sans rooibos. I can’t really identify the caramel, or rather I can’t tell where the honeybush ends and caramel begins. They are in there somewhere, sweetening things up. I’m getting a bit of a burnt flavor – not sure if it’s overdone caramel or the woodiness of the rooibos. sigh Three’s a crowd when it comes to this tea.

Forgot to log this!
A little over a week ago, some of us traveled 3 hours to go to a collegiate chapter conference of VMEA. Needless to say, we left pretty early to get there by 8-9ish. They had a little continental breakfast there, and I saw a few Revolution teas in the basket, and having liked what I’ve had of them so far, I thought I’d try this one. I oversteeped it the first time, but before it had gotten to that point, I was in love. It wasn’t too overpowering in tea or bergamot, with the added bonus of a hint of lavender. Definitely a good balance for me, a fan of mild to medium strength teas. Probably my favorite Earl Grey so far. Will have to compare it next to Twinings again and reevaluate.

This was very light on bergamot and lavender. Probably should have had it straight but had it with milk. Was a decent cup of tea, actually, just not a good Earl Grey. I will try the other half straight or, perhaps, with honey. Thank you for the sample, janefan!
