This is the first tea from Supple Skin Boutique that I’ve tried. I was drawn in by the name (I love a nice lemony tea), and I figured that it’s liver-detoxing properties couldn’t hurt after college.

I’m a bit disappointed with how little lemon I taste. It’s a very solid black tea, and I do like that, but I’m barely picking up on any of the lemon. For a lemonade tea, I find it lacking. I will keep trying it though, and maybe I’ll warm up to it more.

I seriously thought I tried and logged this one already but maybe I didn’t. Since I am getting a little daring today I thought I would have a cup and near-cold-brew it.

Smells like Fruit, Feet, Pine, Herbs, Licorice, and Burdock.

Perhaps THIS is why I didn’t log this…eeeek! The Burdock and Licorice really throw me! Bleh! The Hibiscus just confuses this even more. The cinnamon is artificial tasting, and I can’t taste the green tea at all.

I have enjoyed teas and tisanes from Supple Skin Boutique but I’m sorry this is NOT one of them!

yikes?!

Feet…? D:

Jillian

Sounds pretty dire. :(

Are you actually supposed to drink this? Maybe it’s meant as a skin wash…

Supple Skin Boutique

Hello- this is Gloria with Supple Skin Boutique. Although we typically do not comment on these reviews and you are surely entitled to your opinion. I would like to offer some information on this product. It is traditional Chinese Medicine for skin care. It is not really designed for taste, although we do use premium tea and herbs in this blend and some people like the taste [shameless plug :) ] In summary if you are into homeopathic stuff this is probably right up your alley. However if you just want a great loose tea, maybe try one of our other blends like Calming tea.

Ah… that’s much better! I lowered the steeping temperature to 160 degrees F, and increased the brew time to 3.5 minutes. This tastes so much better than the last cup I had of this.

Sweet, a little grassy, hints of savory, hints of raw spice. It’s crisp and it has a hint of woodsy taste to it, and a fruity character that slowly builds.

The difference between my first cup and this one is like night and day.

LiberTEAS

as this one cools, the flavors become even smoother.

Thank you to TeaEqualsBliss for sending me some of this tea.

This has a strong grassy quality to it. I think I might try to lower the temperature while increasing the steep time slightly to see what I might discover … as it is, I am enjoying it for what it is. It has a strong earthy quality to it, but it is also a little on the thin side, and I was expecting more heartiness. So, maybe the adjustment might help.

Thank you to TeaEqualsBliss for sending me some of this rooibos.

I’m not a big fan of plain rooibos, but, this one is not bad. I like it because it’s organic, and as I have said, there is a difference in taste between the organic and the conventionally grown rooibos. The organic rooibos has less of that funky sweet aftertaste, and tends to be smoother. This has an agreeable nutty overtone, with hints of a woody undertone.

It’s a pleasant tisane, nice for later in the evening when I want less caffeine.

Tarty, Fruity, Hibiscusy…but the hibiscus is slightly mellowed by the coconut and pineapple. It’s ok…pretty tart but ok iced vs hot

This is a VERY green tasting green…a very grassy green. Very Strong and earthy-grassy. Taking it for what it is – it’s alright. I’m going to try and infuse a less amount to see/note differences.

Thank you to TeaEqualsBliss for sending me a bit of this tisane!

I love my chocolate. I brewed this in my Libre mug so that I could keep the cacao nibs in the cup as I sipped… allowing the cocoa flavor to develop. YUM! The flavor is rich and chocolate-y. It is a bittersweet kind of chocolate flavor – very pure and unprocessed. And… very yummy.

Do you ever sleep Ms. LiberTEAs? It’s comforting to know that you’re always up :)

LiberTEAS

I sleep more than I should, actually. I just generally sleep through the morning, because I find mornings to be much more tolerable when I sleep through them. I’m a bit of a night owl, I guess.

Thank you to TeaEqualsBliss for sending me some of this chai. It’s really good.

The star anise adds just the right snappy flavor to this. This isn’t a spicy chai, but it is mildly warming and quite comforting. It makes a great latte: smooth, rich and creamy! Yummy!

Thank you TeaEqualsBliss for sending me some of this tea to try!

This is an excellent Sencha. A well-rounded flavor with nice floral notes. It has a pleasant grassy flavor to it. Sweet.

I’m drinking pure cacao nibs…what are you drinking!?

When I got this from Supple Skin Boutique I was puzzled as I have never drank them straight-up/stand alone. I have been eye balling them tho because the aroma is heavenly!

I thought I would jump and this morning and try them out! I was amazed at how light these infused…it’s a pale/light yellow with a bit of texture to it. I went with the 4-5 minute infusion method…it suggests up to 5. After infusing it still smells like chocolate – not nearly as intense as prior to steeping but still there…there is a cookie-like hint of a smell underneath, too, and I like that!

If one was going to experiment and do their own blends this would be perfect to add in the mix! It’s so pure! Raw! In the more simple, organic form!

As for the taste…it’s more subtle than I thought it would be based on the aroma when I first opened the bag! It’s a little brothy…which was a surprise…but it tastes yummy! There is a hint of sweetness trying to hide but there is a wonderful darker-cocoa taste that also seems to have a slight woodsiness to it, too.

It is pretty darn creamy, too, I might add.

So…grimace! Laugh if you will…I’m drinking PURE Cacao Nibs and I am liking it! Bwahahahaha!

Batrachoid

Pure is always best and you have a nice, life giving snack when your done steeping. Yum!

Angrboda

Is it something a bit like this, do you think? http://steepster.com/Angrboda/posts/55956

TeaEqualsBliss

not sure…haven’t had that one yet…is it just cacao nibs and nothing else? Is that the only ingredient?

Angrboda

Yes, it’s the only thing in it. They look like little dry shells.

It’s a plain Rooibos.

How it is different or what makes this one stand out for me!?

Well, I thought it smells sweeter than most plain Rooibos’s(’s’s’s’s) I have had and I found that it was sweet, sure, but more smooth than I was expecting.

This is a mighty fine Rooibos, folks! Might Fine!

OMG! So…2 things I was unsure of…one…did you know that LEMONGRASS can help dogs bark less? And…two…I wasn’t sure what song to pair with this one so I went with LEMON by U2 just for kicks!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFgLSHL0CPM

My Lemongrass doesn’t really look like this…so I hope I have the right one…this is the only one I found on their website. Mine looks like a pale-tannish-yellow color and has lemongrass but also what looks like root and powder in the mix!

It really didn’t have an aroma prior to infusing but afterwards…it was pleasant but not over the top! It infuses to a VERY clear and clean pale almost completely clear color/liquid. It’s a very gentle lemongrass and a gentle herb type taste. This isn’t too bad! I think it would make a nice base for blending! It does leave a refreshing aftertaste, too!

Okay…so I had to google Shatavari – basically – it’s Asparagus!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asparagus_racemosus

Anyhow…
This is a nice, direct and to the point chai with the addition of Shatavari AKA Asparagus!

I would classify this as a medium strength Chai…both in black tea strength and in spice strength. It’s nice!

I can taste a lemon/orange type citrus hint as well…eventho I do not see citrus in the list of ingredients!

I really like this especially after sitting at room temp for a few minutes! YUM!

Unique! Leaves a sweeter-than-I expected aftertaste! Ah!

Cofftea

Wait. WHAT THE HECK?! Excuse me while my head stops spinning. Asparagus chai?!?!?!

TeaEqualsBliss

Sure…why not! :) LOL

Jillian

Can you actually taste the asparagus at all?

TeaEqualsBliss

I don’t think I could pick it out if I didn’t know it was there…but there is a sweet type taste I am assuming it is that I was tasting…don’t know if that helps or not! LOL
