i dind’t realize that i’d had this one before until i looked at the tasting notes for this one. i have to say that this time around, i’m find it less appealing. theres something about the smell that is just turning me off, though to be fair it might just be that whole being sick factor. i was looking for something with a little kick to it, but tonight this is just feeling weak and sweet. weirdness. chalking it up to not being well.

(oh thanks for sending this my way roswell strange!)

Ysaurella

I didn’t realize I had this one…;) you need to accentuate the sipdown sessions it seems :D

SIPDOWN!

this is a smelly tea that gives me a headache lol so it’s been lockewd away in a tupperware container since kittenna was kind enough to let me steal a sample haha.

This is…..interesting lol I actually wish the smell wasn’t so intense because i think? it’s a blend i’d really enjoy drinking. it’s just hard to tell since the smell is telling my taste buds conflicting things.

This is a sweet blend with just a hint of chai spicey flavour at the end of the cup. I would drink this again but for the smell of the tea that I just can’t get past. It’s quite delicious.

Kittenna

If you kind of like this one, I think you will be happy with your Mango Chai :)

Sil

haha ok good to know :)

Morning steepster-ers. I finally made a cup of tea after hours of wishing for one proved tea-less.

TeaLady441

Hahaha. Funny how that works.

TeaLady441

Or doesn’t. #tragic

Ozli

SO tragic. It’s true.

This is a really mellow/subtle flavour with a really strong black tea. So don’t go in expecting dessert tea. :P It’s good though, but not cupboard-necessary.

Having this iced with a bunch of honey added, and a little club soda to top up the glass. Will not buy again. Just not my cup of tea. :)

So while I can’t stand this as a hot tea, and cold steeped it’s nothing to write home about either, it works really well following DavidsTea’s Tea Pop recipe!

1.5 tbsp tea, 1/2 cup-ish water. A 16 oz mug half filled with ice. Steep the tea as per the instructions (temp and time), pour over ice, add 1 cup club soda.

I also added about 1 tsp honey to this one, as I know I don’t care for the tea. And… SUCCESS! So happy I can drink this tea up now. It tastes mostly of vanilla, with hints of berry. Yum.

Nice! Sometimes those yucky teas actually work for different purposes. Other times, they don’t. Glad it’s not a total throwaway!

OMGsrsly

It’s still close, but not quite there. :)

This one is another quite sour, rather acidic fruity tisane. Unfortunately, it makes my tummy upset, so I’ll be giving away most of what I have left to a friend who likes the sour fruity ones.

The strawberry and apple flavours mix really well with the vanilla, but the sour acid flavour unfortunately ruins it for me. I had high hopes for this as a hot tea, but I think it might do best as a cold infused iced tea. I’m keeping some just to try the other brewing method out.

Side complaint: Why is it that when I type in the tea I’m searching for, the box that drop down immediately shows the one I want, and then it quickly hides it and replaces it with a bunch of teas – some of which are barely related to my search? :| It’s annoying.

And on to this tea! I tried to give this away for the meet-up, but no one jumped on it. I wasn’t sure if I should keep it, but after steeping it I drank the whole cup, so yes. Yes I should. It’s one that I like but never expect to.

Tea, why are you so complicated?

mrs.stenhouse12

I’ve noticed the search bar is a bit weird still too, maybe it’s still a bug from the update :(

Fjellrev

That’s been driving me insane too. I just started going to the company’s page already.

JustJames

that’s been bugging me…. but here’s a new one, try typing in ‘indian’ as in ‘indian nimbu’ and read what pops up 7th from the top. i was underwhelmed.

OMGsrsly

Fourth from the top for me, James!

Fjellrev

Ha! Tenth from the top for me.

JustJames

should we rewrite the information? offer scathing ratings? i did tattle, but i imagine jason’s been busy debugging stuff lately. seriously unbelievable that they would think to advertise here!

Fjellrev

I like the idea of trolling it. :D

heh heh heh….. brb.

So far being back to work hasn’t interfered too much with my tea drinking. It has interfered with checking Steepster, but next week I’ll be in a new office and hopefully I can position my monitor away from the very busy hallway behind me.

Drinking this again. Yeah it’s good. Too bad the name keeps making me think I won’t like it. I should just give it a new name/label so that I drink it more often.

With a name like this, I wasn’t sure I would like it; it sounds medicinal and ’it’s good for you so shaddup and drink it.’

It tastes like a refreshing mix of licorice and spices, with a bit of a kick that’s probably the cardamom. If it didn’t have the mate in it, it would make for an agreeable evening tea!

Oh, I’m describing things as ‘agreeable’ – must be because I’m reading Jane Austen again. I haven’t read Northanger Abbey before, but I’m enjoying the satire immensely. It’s also a nice change from Anna Karenina, which I finally managed to finish for the Steepster book club, as this is much lighter.

tea-sipper

Oh, I was thinking of starting Pride & Prejudice for the first time tomorrow!

TeaLady441

I hope you enjoy it if you do. I first read it as a teen and I like it, but it wasn’t until I re-read it later on that I fully appreciated Austen’s wit. Now reading P&P or S&S is like comfort food for me, although I know I should branch out more!

Ozli

Ahahahah I would have had the same thought re: the name. o_O

TeaLady441

I was so biased against it because of the name! The only reason I have it is my Mom bought a bunch of tea on Boxing Week and she had doubles of this.

This tea is just okay. I prefer DavidsTea Organic Silk Dragon Jasmine to this. I feel that this tea is just too much Jasmine and not enough anything else. Also a very fickle tea, goes bitter quickly so it is important to watch for temp and steeping time.

Overall, I’m very happy with this tea. I prefer greens that are strong and bold in flavour, and this one fits the bill. Tart, without being bitter.

What an interesting tea! It’s not often that one comes across a savoury herbal tea, never mind a savoury tisane that isn’t disgusting. I really enjoy the blend of traditional tea herbs (mint, blossoms, eucalyptus) with cooking herbs (rosemary, sage). It reminds me of going for a hike in the woods. It’s also great for when you’re stuffed up (I drink it whenever, but I’m sure many aren’t into drinking a “sticks and twigs” tea when they aren’t ill).

drank Strawberry Cream by Tea Desire

When my mom came here for the holidays, she brought a whole load of tea, some that was mine, some hers that she can no longer drink for health reasons (sounds ironic), so here I am drinking the last of this three-year-old tea.

Not a rooibos fan so of course this smells and tastes too much like wood. The aroma is very mildly berryish but not in an obvious way. As for the flavour, I can detect a hint of strawberry but it’s a little artificial.

Glad this is out of the way.

Cold-brewed with lemon! Very nice. I like having a jug of whatever on the go all the time now. It’s nice having a choice that isn’t pop or juice in the fridge when water isn’t cutting it. ;)

Preparation
Iced 8 min or more
TeaLady441

I agree! Iced tea is so handy! And you don’t have to worry about it getting cold or over-steeping as much either!

Did you see DavidsTea is promoting teapop? I’m totally curious about what it’ll be like – gonna have to grab club soda and give it a try!

Ozli

Yesss! I never worry about oversteeping.

I saw that tweet but I haven’t looked at it. It sounds like something I wouldn’t be into but that K would LOVE.

TeaLady441

Yeah my hope is that J will like it and I can slowly get him addicted to tea toO! :O He likes pop bc of the caffeine and carbonation but doesn’t want all the sugar. This is perfect!

This tastes really simple and plainish for the amount of things that are apparently jammed into this blend (black tea, pineapple bits, mango bits, apple treaters, hazelnut leaves, sour cherry halves, flavour, sunflower blossoms, rose hip peels, rose blossom leaves, mallow blossoms, marigold blossoms, peppermint leaves). To me, it was dark/strong black tea with a bit of citrus/flowery on top. Nothing identifiable. Maybe that’s the goal with a blend like that, idk. Very breakfast-tea for me!

TeaLady441

No lemons eh? I guess I was just confused by the number of add-ins.

Ozli

Well it says the taste is lemon in the description – it must be the “flavour”!

I think I figured out why I don’t love this tea – it’s the chocolate flavour again.

I ran out of David’s Birthday Cake, and had to order more online because the local shops have been out of it for a few days. I’ll drink this one in the meantime, but I definitely prefer the intense dessert flavour of the birthday cake.

This one smells better than it tastes. Chocolatey and sweet, I don’t really get a lot of strawberry from it. The rooibos flavour is fairly prominent, and there’s a bit of a floral note that I guess is from the rose.

Drunk with milk and a tiny bit of honey I don’t love it, but it is a nice cup of hot desserty stuff. I will definitely drink the 50g I have, but won’t repurchase.

I steeped this for 12 minutes by mistake.

Guys: DO NOT DO THAT.

(This is not a tea that oversteeps well). I took a sip and it burned my mouth with all the smoke. I had to dump it, and I wasn’t ready to try that again)

Courtney

Gah. I’ve actually been nervous to try a smoky tea but I’ll remember not to oversteep it under any circumstances now haha!

Crowkettle

That sounds like quite the experience! This kind of tea is usually potent enough even when you understeep it.

Indigobloom

would have made an excellent marinade for beef! lol

TeaLady441

Courtney – they are polarizing teas. I like them, but understand why people wouldn’t.

CrowKettle- it WAS potent. My tester sip was so intense I didn’t even want to try to make another cup. Just kept movinh!

IndigoBloom- that’s a great idea
I’ve never experimented with tea and cooking.

Ozli

ahahahahahhahahhahahahaha<3333

Kittenna

I like smoky teas with milk/sugar, so I probably would have just doctored it up and drank it anyways! No way I would have tried it straight though, haha.

I drank two more cups of the White Peony sample and that’s the end of that. Man! White tea is expensive but it’s so good. I wonder if DT is having a hard time selling their straight blends (because they had that $1 promo to entice us, and it seems like they have a lot to get rid of at 50 cents).

Time for smoky tea to mix things up. I’m so sleepy though so the smoke is going to my head and making me feel a bit dizzy. I wonder if a vanilla tea would be awesome with this. Maybe another day I’ll try it.
