I like this one best iced. I brewed a batch of it last night for today’s iced tea sipping.
Here is my full-length review: http://sororiteasisters.com/2011/08/07/cherry-cosmo-from-tea-forte/
Nice depiction for Tisane; a floral of sort.
Not to pick on you; as you are expert. But if notes are already mention, expected to be present while tasting; does that not cloud judgment in describing what you are or will be tasting? I know that it is not necessarily so, but it just seem like it can’t be helped if one knows what to look for and expect.
Rhetoric on my part and repeating. It was a good full review.
Backlogging: I enjoyed this iced all day today. It’s very refreshing.

I was so worried about trying another Tea Forte sample. I just haven’t been enjoying the single-steep samples! Waiting for it to finish brewing, I prepared myself for the worst. Maybe I just don’t like tisanes….
I do though! This tastes super yummy! The orange and mint lingers on my tongue. Scrumptious!
Iced tea time!
First of all, it cold brewed beautifully. The colour is just as deep and rich as the hot brewed cup!
First sip… very sagey and tart. Not unpleasant though!
Verdict: the hot brew worked better to get that tasty blueberry flavour, so if you’re going to try it iced I suggest a hot brew with ice rather than a cold brew.
All in all it’s refreshing though, I can see myself sitting outside on a hot day with a little cheese and lemon cake. Man I want to pair this tea with food so badly!
Edit: As I got to to the bottom of my cup I wasn’t liking it as much. Ended up dumping it because the herbiness (herby-ness?) was getting to be way too much. Tasted sage all day.
Preparation
I really wanted to just do one tea a day but wow I wanted another one!
The dry smell is very intriguing. Herby and super fresh blueberry – I am excited.
There was lots in the bag so I made like Bliss and didn’t use much in my Tsac. The rest will turn into iced tea overnight in my ice tea mug! It’s my war against hibiscus with the cold brew method. Not sure if I’m winning that war.
The colour is deep purple and the liquid itself very aromatic. I let it steep for the full 5 minutes and it is quite tart, but juicy is a word that pops into my head too!
The sage is a VERY nice addition. It’s filling my humble cubicle with an aroma that I have to decribe as ‘gorgeous’. I want to be eating herbed roasted chicken while I drink this tea.
A solid berry tea. Will finish my review and rate tomorrow with my iced tea!
Burried my nose in this one before starting. Really sweet smelling. I mean REALLY. Ever drink flavor syrup straight? I did once. It’s like that.
Now for the drinking part. Yum! I used a bit too much water so it’s a little weak, but It’s nice! Doing a nice job getting the “Cosmo-not” off of my palate. Doesn’t need sugar folks. It’s plenty sweet by itself!
I’d call it a bitter, hot, cherry coke. The smell reminded me of a stale cocktail. I’m thankful for the sample but this is a big nuh-uh from me. I think I can bring myself to finish the cup, but I really can’t wait to brew something else to wash my mouth out…
Preparation
Well, it smells like blueberries and merlot but I’m seeing The dreaded H word….eeeeeek!
I was careful of NOT putting in too much loose leaf in the infuser and I didn’t over infuse! This seems to work nicely…it’s smoother that I anticipated and I’m glad! I’m thinking this will be better iced! It’s not bad hot but think it would be better cold. I can taste the cornflowers more than I thought I would which isn’t good, bad, or indifferent…just something I picked up on.
Oof! It was tasty!
My first of the sampler pack to try :D Man I was so excited when I got this in the mail yesterday.
First of all, I need to curb my excitement and only drink these in the afternoon. The no-caffiene thing in the morning hit me kind of hard haha – lucky I chose this kind of tea.
The tangy citrus helped wake me up! :D
It really has a jammy taste to it, a “thick” texture too.
The spearmint is just right, didn’t overpower the marmalade taste for me. What it really did was make me crave this gooey mess all over a hot buttered english muffin.
I’m really enjoying this one…both hot and cold…I think the new Herbal Retreat offerings are more up my alley than most of their others! At least the offerings without Hibiscus that is. This is WYSIWYG…Apricot and Amaretto sums it up nicely! I’m appreciating the Honeybush/Rooibos blends very much – thanks Tea Forte!
The dry and steeped tisane smells more like something you’d rub on you than drink.
The taste isn’t far off, either. Not horrible though, but quite strange. I can’t taste any of the fruit in this, just moderated Vicks.
The ginger makes my stomach warm/burn as though I’d swallowed Vicks, too. Not in a good way.
It’s not so bad as to want to spit out, but I probably won’t finish the cup and definitely won’t be buying it.
Preparation
The name “Cherry Cosmo” described the scent of this right… it smelled of red cherries, alcohol and something else I couldn’t place.
The steeped tea is lighter in scent and you can get a hint of the raspberry and what I assume is the hibiscus others have mentioned since I don’t know/recognize that flavor/scent on its own.
The flavor isn’t very mouth-filling… it’s rather watery. It brings to mind cherry Sucrets. It’s also lightly tart. The taste that I’m learning is Hibiscus is rather strong as it cools.
It’s not bad by any means, but not delivering on its name nor that great in general. I’d not bother buying it.
Preparation
I’ve tried them all but the Blueberry Merlot and the only one I’ve enjoyed was the Mojito Marmalade. It was the first that I sampled and it lead me to think I’d love the rest. But the others have just struck me strangely. :( The Apricot Amaretto tasted to me like Cherry Halls, the Cherry Cosmo like strange Kool-aid, and the Key Lime Ginger was just a ho-hum ginger root tea in my opinion. So as a package, I would not purchase this.
Preparation
The steeped scent is mostly spearmint. I can’t really pick up anything else. But it’s pleasant so far.
On first sipping, I’m getting much more mojito than marmalade. There’s no noticeable citrus or sweetness, just a pleasant spearmint flavor.
I was thinking that as it cooled more of the other flavors would come out to balance it, but so far no. I would just rate this as a decent spearmint tea.
Preparation
So I’ve now tried all of them and only really liked the Blueberry Merlot, all others were “okay” except the Kiwi Lime Ginger which is like drinking Vicks Vapor Rub.
As to the sampler set itself, I liked the easiness of the single-cup pouches. Though, I would ordinarily like two of such size as, unless I get a strong first impression, it takes me a couple cups to tell if I like a tisane. So, since they are single-serve only, my reviews of each are first impression and not fully rounded reviews.
All in all, I’m glad to have had the sampler and to have tried the variety; but only one drink stood out as one I’d buy more of.
