Not to bad…

I took 1tsp and steeped it for about 3 minutes like the package said. It took a little while until the raspberry flavoring came through. I was hoping for a little more raspberry flavoring (VERY Raspberry is it not called?) but I’ll pry try steeping it for a bit longer or using more leaves b/c I can totally see myself digging this kind of tea since not alot of companies use Assam as the maing black tea they use in flavored teas. It’s got the usual Assam bold, rich, and smooth characteristics that make it great hot or iced.

I don’t know how much i used, i just dumped the last bits from the sample bag into a pot with some Oolong (that had been steeped maybe 5 times? i kind of lost track). The resulting liquid was dark, like puerh DARK. I added lots of milk and sugar and wow it’s knock your socks off good. I def. like the subtle flavor that the oolong added. P: Wish i had more of this chai :(

Very nice black tea base, and the spices are flavorful. Very good little sample size, I may try it double strength next time. It’s milder than tazo but still has lotsa flavor.

Wow, this tea is intense (in a good way!) Thanks so much to Piccolo and Teajo for the sample! I love the deep rich assam with the assertive mango flavor. I am enjoying it hot but I’m sure it will be wonderful iced, too. It is an interesting contrast to the peach oolong I had earlier today, too, heh.

This one is nice, The the aroma of the dry leafe is fruity and slightly minty like the scent of juicy fruit and doublemint gum together at the same time.
We fist tried this one early this morning with breakfast and it was really just perfect for breakfast, usually when we have an Assam for breakfast we bring out the sweetener and milk because thats the way we like our breakfast tea and it really held the milk well it was creamy, smooth and malty with slight astringency and was so delicious that Lance had 2 cups which is rare for him He said it’s better than coffee in the morning lol.
I went on to try it straight with nothing added and it taste better to me that way it was malty and mild with a slightly bitter astringency to it which I enjoyed and it had a fruity note that was like that of raisins in fact it was like raisin bread toast or something, very delicious. It was not quite as strong as I was expecting it to be when I had it straight but I usually go for really strong brewed ctc type Assams AND this one held milk very well which was probably why I was expecting it to be a little stronger with nothing added.
Damn good tea!

I got this as a sample from Teajo.
Earl Greys with Ceylon (I believe that’s the most common black tea used) are alright…I always taste an astringency with them…even if it’s faint. This uses Assam though. This man, is awesome! It’s got a full body richness with the fabulous elements of normal EG. ) The sample is very generous and when I run out I will definitely order some more! Job well done!!!

I know I’ve had actual mango before, but I can’t remember what it tastes like. I think I might have to see about getting one soon, I wonder if anywhere around here has some?
This is a very generous sample from Teajo Teas, thanks! I’ve been craving fruity teas lately, maybe because the weather here is warming up and I have dreams of fruity iced teas dancing around in my head. As soon as you open the bag, a delicious, sweet, fruity mango flavor comes out. I felt like this would be a good idea for a cold brew, so last night I popped it in the fridge and let it sit overnight so I could take it to classes this morning. Is caffeine affected by cold brewing, I wonder? Either way, this tastes great! I’ll have to try it hot, but I can see myself definitely reordering this in the summer months for iced tea all the time. The tea and the mango are both present. At the front is the mango, with the base tea backing it up. It’s sweet enough on its own that it doesn’t need any sweeteners, but I can see this being really good with some sugar added, probably like some kind of mango juice.

To me, Earl Grey is the father figure of all tea. A solid dude that you can rely on at all times.

Always there to support you, loving you and hugging you when you need to. Keeping things simple and comforting cause you know exactly what to expect.

This Earl is a very good illustration of that. Not all Earl Greys are created equally, they often are unbalanced, bergamot kicking a little too strong.

The balance on this one is perfection! The bergamot is done just right in a non bitter way, leaving plenty of room for the excellent assam base to shine through. It’s creamy without any vanilla flavouring addition.

This is my go to tea of the morning when there’s no time for fuss, knowing I won’t have to compromise on the quality.

Thank you Teajo for giving me a good Papa Earl to rely on :-)

First impressions! Peachiness. Mango and peach are sister fruits, and here I could have sworn this was a peach-based blend by the smell alone. In fact, this particular peach smell is exactly like strep throat medicine, right down to the alcoholic astringency at its core. If I had been sniffing this stuff in a store, I’d have put it right back on the shelf.

In the cup, however, poof! For the full review, go here: http://snooteablog.com/2013/03/17/spring-break-special-teajos-mango-assam/

Thanks to Teajo Teas for the generous sample! When I first took a whiff of the Black Manas, I thought it smelled sweet, and it reminded me of the types of English Breakfast teas that I like.

I brewed it in the Breville and added my usual two Splenda that go into every tea I drink…it was delicious, but you know, it was pretty sweet to me. Strange for an unflavored black. I thought that I could drink a second cup and only put in ONE Splenda! And I did! That is HUGE for me.

This tea was so nice and smooth I think I could probably even like it without any sweetener at all. I enjoy it best nice and hot, but it was just fine after it cooled in the cup as well. This would be a good first black tea for someone to try and it would be a good everyday tea for an old-timer like me. ;-)

Well, I first have to say thanks for Teajo. Got this as a free sample, and getting it was quick and easy. A simple black tea, malty. Some honey notes, a bit like bread. Perfect for the morning.

This one was my first straight Assam and I think I may have fallen in love. Big time. I brewed this one according to instructions on the package. I would usually have brewed it in 1 minute increments but I did one brew of 3 minutes.

The result was a lovely malty yet sweet brew of heavenly black tea. I loved the malt of this tea. There was also a nice honey sweetness along with the malt. I was a bit surprised to find a fruity note in there. Peach or apricot…I can’t decide but it was good. There was also a slight bit of tang that’s not quite astringency but awakens the palate.

I will definitely be buying more of this. It could become my morning black tea. I had a cup this morning and did not even have a desire for my regular cup of coffee. Coffee is starting to smell like wet dog to me anyway.

Thanks to Teajo Teas for sending me a sample.

I received this a free sample for Teajo…And, I should say that it was a really generous sample! It just so happened that I consumed an entire fresh mango late last night. This morning I decided it would be a great time to sample while I had mango on my mind. The tea has a really wonderful aroma, quite mango-y. It is really smooth and light in flavor. The Mango flavor is distinguishable and tasty. I enjoyed it plain/hot and sweetened/hot. I also enjoyed a glass iced very much! I’m glad that I still have enough left for several servings:).

this tea is very good, drank it black. I often get annoyed with flavored teas because either they just smell chemically and/or the “flavor” totally overpowers the tea(and often doesn’t even taste like it’s supposed taste). Teajo Tea’s Tropical Mango did not do this, it smells so amazingly fresh and real, but upon drinking it tastes like bold tea with a background of fruit flavor, much more to my liking.

Thanks Teajo!

Not-Tea Notes

It was nice to see this in my mailbox today – such a good day!

In Shakespeare, we all had to prepare the same scene from Richard III. My professor announced today that we were having a surprise “callback” – he was going to pick scene partners out of a hat. We decided that the two best actors would get to pick monologues for our professor to perform for us. As far as I know, none of us have ever seen him act.

I was the last Elizabeth to go, and the universe was on my side – the Richard I was put with happened to be the girl I rehearsed with most often. I won out of all the Elizabeths (and I’m not even really an actor, I just love Shakespeare SO FREAKING MUCH) and so the Richard winner and I performed the whole scene – he was someone I’d worked with too, so we already had a sort of rhythm going, and it was surprisingly different from the first time I’d done it.

And now we get to see my professor do a Don Pedro monologue from Much Ado and a Hal monologue from Henry V… the latter of which he’s never performed in front of people before. Happy spring break, professor! :)

Tea Notes

I smelled this one, and thought “ooh, that’s strong.” I don’t have any straight Earl Greys because I’m not a huge fan of bergamot – I prefer EGCs. But I like to have one in my collection.

I put two heaping teaspoons in my 20oz Amsterdam pot, boiling water, 2 min.

The first cup was surprisingly light. It was a really beautiful Assam base, and it wasn’t overwhelmingly perfumey. The bergamot was supported because the tea itself is of a good quality.

Later cups got stronger, perhaps because it cooled. I thought it might have been due to broken pieces left in the bottom of the pot, but there’s hardly anything there.

It was smooth enough for me to drink straight. I might do milk/sugar next time, just because of personal preference, but it really is a great Earl Grey!

Delicious! Nothing special about this black tea except that it isn’t bitter or astringent, and has a pleasant malty flavor, so I don’t have to doctor it up at all. I could easily drink cup after cup and not get tired of it. If this were a beer, I’d call it a session beer.

drank Cranberry Chai by Teajo Teas

I re-visited this a few days ago. I decided to do something I hadn’t done previously with this chai. I simmered it on the stove in milk for 10 minutes, then strained it. I liked it a lot this way, enough to re-order it. The cranberry added something a little extra, but it was still like a chai. The last time I made this tea, I steeped it, then added milk, but thought the flavor was too muted by the milk. Surprisingly, Cranberry Chai also makes a good iced tea, without milk. At the moment, Teajo is having a sale, so its a good time to try it. I like their Classic Chai as well.

I tried this several ways and have decided I prefer it sweetened and cold, which is how I’m drinking it now. It’s definitely fruity with just a bit of spice and doesn’t taste artificial, but I can’t identify specifically that it’s cranberry. Warm is not bad, but cold is best. With milk added, the flavors become too subdued for my taste, even when made double strength. When I ordered this, I had in mind a nice warm autumn type chai for a chilly day, but instead, I really think it is best as a refreshing cold drink any time of year.

Yes, that is what I would think of with a name like Cranberry Chai – a very autumnal tea – perfect for drinking hot on a cold day!
