drank Lemon Meringue Rooibos by Tealish

Backlog: You know, I think I like this one even more than Lemon Chiffon. Now I know why you drink it so often, MissB. Thank you so much for sharing this delectably creamy treat. The lemon meringue flavors are spot on, right down to the hint of lemon tartness that makes it such a tasty dessert. More and more I realize my caffeine-free options are limited so I am grateful you gave me yet another thing to put on that list!

Also, the ladybug the flew right past my face and into the cup also seemed to enjoy it!

So glad you enjoyed this one! I’m enjoying this one slightly more than Lemon Chiffon… but only slightly. The creaminess, the meringue, the tartness… yum!

TeaLady441

Really? Wow. Do they have a lime version too? I’ve never heard of anything topping Lime Chiffon. :P

VariaTEA

MissB, I am shocked to say it but I agree 100%. It is good, REALLY good!

And I am not sure if they have a lime version, Cavo. Something to look into…

Kittenna

Sweet! I just saw Anlina’s review, and wondered how it compared to the chiffons, so thanks for making that comparison! I’ll have to pick some up at some point, which shouldn’t be too difficult as Tealish is much more accessible than Della Terra, haha.

MissB was so generous to include a sample of this with the teas I bought from her. Thank you so much for letting me try this one!

WOW, WOW, and WOW! I am in love! I am always on the hunt for good lemon tea. I love lemon! This was perfect. First it tasted exactly like the name suggests. I got the lemon with no lemon grass, I got creamy, I got rich full of flavor in your mouth deliciousness. This sample made me want to go out and buy stupid amounts of this tea so there is never any chance of running out. I will have to savor this sample and then possible break my no more buying tea rule just to have this! Thank you so much MissB for including this!

MissB

I am so late seeing this, however still glad you enjoyed it. I have an obscene amount of this tea if you’d like more – for the same reason as you!

drank Walnut Ave (Sweet Macaron) by Tealish
1500 tasting notes

So, I get this is a tea named after the street Tealish started on. Still, wouldn’t they, you know, use a walnut-based tea for this? Honestly, I picked this up and thought it would be like Nutty Enough or something instead of a tropical drink that it (seems to be) aiming for.

First off, I overleafed significantly, based on other reviews. I also brewed it at a low temperature for the same reason. It looks odd brewed up; I used a paper filter and yet it’s… chunky? Hard to describe. Thick. Velvet. Hard to see through.

I had to add a touch of stevia to this, and that’s when it really, really perked up. I get luscious, velvety, deep coconut with a pineapple twinge mid-way and well after the sip. I could see this being spectacular cold, with some booze added to it.

EDIT: Uh, okay. So there are supposed to be walnuts in here? I saw zero in my bag.

drank Hot Chocolate Chai by Tealish

Made the mistake of having this alongside Mariage Frères Chandernaggor, which is the epitome of chai’s for me. It still held it’s own though! Just a bit smoother, more creamy, and less chai spicy than it’s competitor. I will definitely re-order more of this when I run out.

At least I did one of my chai’s right tonight – this one! I much prefer it with cream than straight, and like this it’s a wonderfully rich and delicious hot chocolate with chai spices. Exactly as described!

Flavors: Chocolate, Cinnamon, Nutmeg

Wow. Definitely a dessert/treat -type tea. Went low on the steeping side, just because I could (although oversteeping was something I wanted to avoid as well). Brews up a dark caramel color, and smells vaguely of chai spices.

Drinking it is an interesting play on texture and flavor. There’s something sweet and thick in the mix (I’m guessing coconut?), and I can definitely taste something barley-like, adding to the meatiness of the blend. The spices are mild, and I get something else sweet at the end of the sip with zero sugar added. With some Truvia, this quickly becomes a hot chocolate chai – exactly as the name suggests. Wow! I’m in love.

i heard an odd metaphor that applies aptly to this blend: dog’s bowl. weird, right? but if you think about the jumble of stuff in a dog’s bowl it is a good description of the muddle of flavours in this tea.

cinnamon and clove + chocolate? not my favourite, but i like to think i’m open minded. coconut? okay. mate…. which gives me banana (oddball gene), and rooiboos. OOF!

MissB you are braver than i!!! it’s just not a good fit with me, i’m more of a cat guy.

Tea #15 from the Here’s Hoping TTB

It’s been awhile since I’ve had anything from Tealish since they’re up in Canada. I have a few of their blends that I have really enjoyed, but this one just left me feeling a little meh. It’s very sweet, a little buttery, and slightly burnt tasting. There really isn’t a lot of depth to the cup, which was disappointing.

This one just isn’t for me I guess.

I’ve had this at least five times in the past few days, and I’ve noticed a few things:
- it’s too sweet cold, and as it cools;
- it’s infinitely better hot, and with a shorter than five minute steep;
- the apple takes over if you re-steep, oversteep, or let it cool too long.

I do love it, however it’s a bit finicky. This is a partial re-steep (I re-steeped the last cup and added more leaf), and probably my least favorite of all the times I’ve had it. The last cup however – 3 minute steep with 200F water and all brand new leaf – was amazing while still hot/warm.

Overleafted slightly and steeped only 5 minutes is definitely this tea’s sweet spot. Anything more steep-wise and it gets too much apple in there, any less ‘leaf’ and it loses some juiciness.

Backlog from last night’s marathon present wrapping and tending to a sick kidlet night that never seemed to end. Still tasty, juicy blueberry, although I’m learning if I oversteep this, it gets more apple-y and less blueberry-y than I’d like.

Visited a friend’s place the other day, and his sister offered me this, “The best blueberry tea ever”. Oddly enough, she even mentioned Tealish as the company name, and I still failed to realize that I’d had some of this already, AND have more in my tea cupboard.

I prepared this properly this time, and it’s much better than last time. 1.5 tsp per cup is definitely the sweet spot (bag recommends 1-1.5 tsp), as is adding some Truvia. Like juicy blueberry jam! Upping the rating.

Recommended steeping time: 4-6 minutes. Actual steeping time: 25 minutes.

Smells like a field of juicy, dripping blueberries (you know, after the kids have run rampant and eaten/squashed them by the handful). I thought it was a bit tart though drinking it… of course, my ridiculous oversteep is likely the cause of that.

I liked this, and really liked it after adding Truvia – the blueberries and apple really turn mouth-watering then, almost like a sweet blueberry pie, minus the crust. There’s zero to pick out that was ‘bad’, I just… wanted to like it more. Blueberry fans should definitely try this.

25 minutes huh? lol.

MissB

Lol. This is why I use the Breville, it does all the thinking for me.

JustJames

ahem…. does it have a red light and say ‘by your command’. (there are toaster toasters, it’s true!)

MissB

Heh. Well, it has a blue light, and I can program it to ‘my command’.

=0)))) my inner dork is grinning.

I love fruity herbal teas and this one offers a good variety of taste. The raspberries and blackberries add delicious subtly and it is definitely not too minty.
I got this on a tea shopping trip to Toronto in September. It was nice to visit Tealish and talk to the staff.

Have you ever really loved a tea and then just one day you could no longer even stand the smell? Well basically that is what happened to me with Forever Nuts and by extension, this tea as well. Courtney so graciously sent me a sample and since I was a huge fan of Forever Nuts, I knew I would love this too. Except one day I made myself a cup of Forever Nuts and could not even drink it. So I have been putting off trying this. However today when I smelled it, I was really intrigued and decided to brew myself a cup. Despite it being buttery and filled with wonderfully nutty flavors, I just could not drink it. I know it is a good cup of tea but it just is not for me. Thank you Courtney for sharing!

Aw I know what you mean. I feel like I had something similar with this tea. Maybe the flavours just become too overwhelming at a point.

drank Strawberry Rhubarb by Tealish

In anticipation of my large Della Terra order as well as the tea package from my Dad containing all my other BF orders, I am trying to get a few sipdowns. I am slowly working my way through various swap packages and today I pulled out this tea from Courtney. With just two cups left of this and two cups of Bella Berry, I plan on finishing both off tonight.

Right now, this tea is actually quite tasty. I think this is the first time I am picking up a hint of rhubarb and I am quite enjoying it. Thank you Courtney for sharing this with me!! I have been very happy to try out various Tealish flavors :)

Courtney shared some of this tea with me and it definitely makes for a pleasant cup. I don’t think this is anything overly special so I don’t think it is something I would go out of my way to buy. There is not much tart flavor nor is there any vegetal taste from the green base. Nonetheless, it is sweet and mildly flavored and I will enjoy the rest of the sample while it lasts. Thank you Courtney!!

Courtney was kind enough to share this with me a couple weeks back and I had not gotten around to it yet. However, today I woke up in the mood for greens and so this made it into the gravity steeper.

After the Bella Berry, I worried this would go the way of potpourri but I was pleasantly surprised. I only brewed it for about a minute and what I ended up with was a very delicate tea with a hint of strawberry. I am not picking up any rhubarb but I am enjoying this nonetheless.

Thank you Courtney for sharing this with me :)

Sipdown!! (162)

So I am a little sad because I just checked my email only to realize Stacy does not have enough left to send me the Carrot Cake tea I ordered on Black Friday. That was one of the ones I was dying to try so that was definitely sad to hear. Stacy is being very accommodating though so I can’t be too upset. Her customer service is really quite great :)

Anyways, on to the tea…

This came to me from Courtney and it is not bad but my roommate mentioned it tastes like potpurri and every time I have it, that is all I can think of. It is actually because of that, that my roommate no longer says what she thinks a tea tastes like unless I outright ask. Nonetheless, it is gone and though I am glad I tried it, I am not too sad to see it go. Thank you Courtney for helping me cross this one off my list.

Courtney was kind enough to share this with me so thank you Courtney! Unfortunately, this just does not do it for me. My roommate took a sip first and mentioned it tastes like potpourri and once that was put into my head it could not be undone. I didn’t taste berry but rather found this to be more on the floral side (and I am not even sure if there is florals in it??). It was pleasant enough to try but I don’t think I will be buying any of this in the future.

drank Love Potion Sencha by Tealish

Hm. Forgotten I’d tried this one already – must be how memorable it was?

I’m getting the strong smell of both blueberries and strawberries again, and this concerns me. I did get a note back saying there are zero strawberries in this mix, and yet still…

This is a muted cup, likely due to my miniscule steep time. It’s creamy, it’s blueberry (more so after the sip, and lingering) and a slight touch from the pink peppercorns. Interestingly, I have few of the blue (what I assume are) cornflowers in my bag, while the picture shows them dazzlingly everywhere.

It’s light, it’s tasty, its… missing something still, although I think I do enjoy this shorter steep time.

Almost every single tea with the word ‘love’ in it has strawberries, so when I saw that this one was free of them, I had to grab a small bag to see what I was missing. Or, I’m hoping there’s zero strawberry in here… Tealish’s ingredient lists are usually AWOL other than the describe flavorings.

Out of the bag, this smells like a juicy melange of fruit and green tea. Steeped it smells more like currants and spice. My first sips are tentative – are we sure there aren’t any strawberries in here? – and I’m having a hard time telling. There’s something making my lips and tongue tingle, however it could well be the red peppercorns I saw in the mix. It takes like currants with a bit of spice for the most part, with hints of roasty green tea in the background and the finish.

It’s nice and pleasant, and while I do enjoy it, I’m still focused on the possibility of strawberries in here. I’m off to go email Tealish and ask them.
