This is too strong of a Earl Grey for me. The bergamot is a overpowering camphor smell. I suppose if you had a cold and wanted to inhale vicks vapor rub it would do the trick. The smell turned me off so much I cant drink the tea.

Too much Ginger and not enough lemon but not a terrible taste. Probably not one I would purchase again tho.

Yup! I actually like this one UNDERinfused…I also had one overinfused and it was too gingery…it was yummy with the MORE Lemon and little Ginger instead…

Needed to infuse much longer than I originally thought to get much of a flavor out of it. The 2nd infusion was infused about the same length but tasted much more like ginger and not in a very good way. This one seems to be a little touchy. If you’re careful I suppose it would be a good cup…so I will base it on my first attempt…

drank Chrysanthemum by Teas Etc

Okay, so this was my first time trying Chrysanthemum, so the rating is low not based on quality (since I am unfamiliar with other Chrysanthemum herbal teas) but is instead based on my experience with it. I got the tea sample in the mail and there were full beautiful flowers in it. The smell wasn’t anything special, but I figured it would come out once I started to steep it.

I got it to a nice light yellow color and decided to take out the flowers and give it a taste. I love floral teas and especially chamomile, but this was a bit farther off from those two than I expected. It has a very strong and abrasive taste. I wasn’t a fan of the aftertaste at all. No hints of sweetness in this one. The taste was bitter and astringent in a way that I didn’t enjoy (I like strong teas).

Overall, I wasn’t all that happy with this tea, but like I said before, I hadn’t tried Chrysanthemum. If you like Chrysanthemum I would give this tea a shot, perhaps as a sample when buying other teas from Teas Etc. You may have the opposite reaction as me! I do love this company though.

I love this white tea. Very light and crisp, but naturally sweet. This tea is relaxing and reminds me of a forest after a late spring frost. I can only appreciate that comparison having grown up around the woods. I love Samovar’s Osmanthus Silver Needle which gives me similar thoughts, but this white tea is lovely beyond words. Something very sweet, subtle, and even nutty about this one.

This is bold and smooth all at the same time. It’s very ‘clean’ for a bold black tea. It’s a Goodie, indeed! I can see why it won an award!

Teaman

Hi. How would you rate this tea for maltiness? I love a good malty assam. However some have a rather astringent/bitter quality that overpowers. My favorite assam was a special reserve assam I got from TeaSource in MN. They can’t seem to get it anymore. So I’m intrigued this place has one of similar name and looks similar and sounds similar. It was nice and malty with little astringency when steeped less than 3 minutes.

TeaEqualsBliss

I tend to oversteep and/or over heap my loose leaf amount for the infusion. I like teas strong, usually. This one was about semi to ,medium for malty…not the maltiest I have had…but still nice. I didn’t find it bitter even if oversteeped…it’s forgiving, at least for me it was/is.

Teaman

Thanks! Guess I’m now tempted to ask what is the maltiest assam you’ve found?

TeaEqualsBliss

You had to ask…lol…I can’t remember now…figures…but it was maltier than this one! LOL

Teaman

“You had to ask…” but of course! :)
Well if you think of it, let me know.

Infused at a higher temp and more loose leaf for a longer time and it’s still pretty light in color for a black. Still good tho.

Preparation
Boiling 7 min, 0 sec

I tried this again today…doubled steeping time and turned out good but still a little mild in my opinion based on the length of steep. I am glad I oversteeped this one…it was MUCH better.

My husband tried it and added T of sugar and thought it was great.

Good but not World Champion in my opinion. Pretty light and mellow but pleasant.

LENA

really? i was interested in trying this one.

TeaEqualsBliss

I’m going to try and tinker with amount and steeping lengths…maybe it will be better. Don’t get me wrong…I like it…but it’s not very bold or flavorful like I was thinking it would be.

LENA

bummer…let us know how the tinkering goes. :)

TeaEqualsBliss

Will do! :P

A lovely gentle tea from Yunnan, almost all buds. Doesn;t have the characteristic nose or spice of the usual Yunnan, but it is a lovely tea. Totally different with some milk in it. Sweeter, smoother, heavier, two teas in one!

Preparation
205 °F / 96 °C 3 min, 15 sec

Since this was only the second Earl Grey I’ve ever tried after twinings, all I can say is it was very different..Im not a floral tea scent drinker and I could smell the rose pedals so that turned me off, but I imagine its a very good tea if you are partial to floral scented teas since Teas ect teas win awards.

No wonder is this an award winning tea.The bouquet is mysteriously captivating,a cross between earth and sky, the colorhue that changes from an autumn preripe persimmon yellow to a coppery red/brown maple leaf hue.Taste is slightly earthy without the dust or twinge of anything dry or alum. You cant seem to overbrew this tea with negative results. Each brew takes you farther within the mystery, a warming walk secure and complex, anxiously awaiting each new vista.
