White Tea from Teekanne
72

Here I go… This is my first tea note on steepster. I want to start with something simple, tea bag that is. My loose leaf teas will have to wait a bit.

This one is from Teekanne Green & White 6×5 pack. I almost never buy tea bags, but this was a nice opportunity to try out few different teas for decent price. Instructions for steeping make more sense to me than other greens in the G&W pack (100C, 3-5m).

Tea seems a bit murky, but it has a longer steeped Bai MuDan hue to it. Aroma is more appealing, actually even surprising since I didn’t expect much from this tea bag.
With first sip you get that robust tobacco taste that lingers a bit and transforms to floral notes with exhaling through nostrils. After few sips there is a short sweet sensation in throat ended with that particular grapefruit peel note on the palate that rests for some time, along with moderate mouth dryness.
All in all, this is quite good cuppa for a tea bag, but I’m not sure if I’ll be restocking it, but hey, you never know… I still have four tea bags to go.

all right than, time to try this one with orange just as i promised myself i would.
well, i have to say, it really brings the punch out :D not the way i thought it would, but it’s rather a good surprise. i would definitely recommend Punschfix with orange on a cold winter afternoon. it can take you away.

Well, this was a bit… disappointing. From the colour and the smell I was expecting something different – a stronger pomegranate flavour maybe, not as “metallic” as it turned out to be.
Me thinks a little honey might be in order to finish the pot.

somewhat better than last time, with powder this time. unfortunatelly i forgot to take the leaf out after a couple of minutes, so i happened to steep it for a good 10 minutes. obviously too much. this just doesn’t seem to serve me well :D

some punsch flavour with cinnamon (which i missed though, it should be stronger in my opinion), to savour with orange if possible. kinda sad i didn’t find any so i had to stick with honey and nothing else. was really good still. note to self: i shell try it with orange once

first cup today. good choice for morning tea as far as i’m concerned, with sugar and cream, which doesn’t seem to go well with it, hence the low points. next time without the cream i guess. it still is a good mix of black teas. just keep it warm please

Feinste Kamille (Finest Camomile) from Teekanne

I can sense that soreness is developing in my throat… so I am self-medicating with this. I don’t really like the characteristic grassy flavour of camomile, but camomile tea is always so soothing that I always keep a box at home as first aid for sore throat. And this camomile tea by Teekanne is sweet as if it is honeyed, which makes it extra soothing :)

Feinste Hagebutte (Finest Rosehip) from Teekanne

I am biased against any tea that is deep red in colour and contains hibiscus, so I knew I would not give this tea a good rating even before I tasted it. This tisane was rather tart and I didn’t know whether it was due to hibiscus, rosehip, or combination of the two (I have no idea what rosehip tastes like because whenever there’s rosehip, there’s always hibiscus). It was very fruity, to the extent that I was half-expecting to see pulp in the cup. I found it easier to tolerate the tartness as the tisane cooled, because I could then tell myself to treat it as a fruit juice… and fruit juice was meant to be sour!

There are both fruity and floral notes in the tea; my guess is that they have used a blend of Darjeeling and Ceylon. Nothing too impressive but it’s all I need for a lazy Sunday morning ;)

A nice, soothing cup of green tea. Tastes like the green tea that is typically served in sushi joints in Hong Kong. It cleanses my palate and comforts my stomach after a heavy meal.

A very sweet herbal tea that tastes mainly of spearmint. It’s ok but I would prefer it to be more pepperminty.

Hmm… I don’t like this tea. I love rooibos but it seems that adding liquorice, cardamom and anise to it is a big mistake. The tea is nutty, spicy, and sweet – a really weird combination in my opinion. Not my cup of tea!

A very lemony herbal tea. Every sip is saturated with the taste of lemongrass, lemon verbena, lemon balm… too bad that I don’t enjoy these herbs much. This tea would make a good insect repellent though! :P
