I’m trying to stay away from black tea for a bit to regulate the ph levels in my body so it was a Rooibos day for me. This particular Rooibos is REALLY earthy and very clay like, it reminds me of play doh—not that I make a habit of eating/drinking play doh. Meh, it’s not amazing. I’ve had better.
Preparation
I love this tea.
In the afternoon when I need something to get me through my cubicle office job or to get me through three hour classes, this tea is it. This is perfect for those days when I want something light and sweet (without needing to add sugar). The raspberry taste is easy to detect, but not so strong that you can’t appreciate the taste of the white tea itself.
Overall delightful tea that I will always enjoy!
This is what we call " Nan tea" in Newfoundland, it’s basically the only tea the older people drink here, and the only orange pekoe they’ll drink is the Tetley. I grew up with this tea and as a child I assumed that this was the only tea available.
Since being home I’ve spent a great deal of time with my nan. One thing we have in common is drinking Tetley Orange Pekoe. I drank it the only way I have for years, with canned milk and sugar twin.
Preparation
I try to explain to my friends here on the mainland why I always ask for ‘fresh milk’ when I order tea.. because home in NL people always assume canned! And I also grew up drinking ‘nan tea’.. at 3 years old my nan is letting me sip it out of her cup.. so comforting now, though not as tasty as most teas!
A solid, gateway tea. A standby that will neither impress or depress. I drink it with a splash of milk. A word of caution. Do not over-steep.
I look forward to expanding my tea selection.
Preparation
This is a great tea for a blend… It tastes of bergamot with a light hint of green aftertaste !… try it with milk, Mmmm.. !!!
Preparation
OMG! This is the only tea I will drink. It is the best tasting tea ever. The aroma the flavor is like no other tea. I even took some to work and gave a sample to all my co-workers which was not a good idea because they all come back for more. I now have to hide my tea. To make matters worst I can’t seem to find this Tetley Earl Grey Green Tea on any of the grocery shelves at this time. Help Me!!!!! Was this product removed for some reason?
Currently drinking this(I assume, mine has different packaging) as a ‘main’ green so to speak as I’m almost out of other teas and haven’t been able to get to tea shop lately,
It tastes slightly grassy with barely any astringency but lacks any subtle flavours, in way a cheap Gunpowder tea would,
Low quality but takes heat well.
Preparation
I like to think I’m not a tea “snob” in that, I really don’t mind trying teas from more generic companies. In other words, I’m sincerely attracted to flavors more so than brands… and for the sake of this tea, boy am I glad! I discovered it over the summer, and it made the perfect summer-flavored tea! And moving into November, it’s still one of my go-to favorites. I can’t help but adore the balance of mint with lime, but I will admit I might be biased by how much I love mint, and I would say that the mint flavor is a shy bit stronger than lime in this tea.
I also happen to appreciate that this tea comes in one of the little tins, in bags. If I’m on my way out of the house with an empty mug (god forbid!) and I don’t have time to fuss with loose leaf, this is what I toss into my bag.
Father in law brought this back from India Last week. He was looking for real masala but the areas of town where the loose leaf was at was a really bad part of town so he brought this back. It comes in tea bags with dust and fannings which I am not thrilled, and if brewed by itself is strong and bitter.
To fix this I do a traditional half milk and half water brew and sugar. It is fairly nice if you are in a pinch for a cup of masala but it is not my ideal tea. It has a bit of cinnamon but the predominate flavors are cardamon and anise.
In conclusion, if you are in india and cant seem to find a chai wallah then pick this up and brew with milk and sugar and it will do.
Preparation
This is my evening tea. I drink it every night without fail. If I’m going out of town or commuting, I bring both the leaded and unleaded versions in a tin. I take my tea strong and with milk, so I’m often using multiple pouches and I go through a box rather quickly. I buy in bulk so a case of six boxes of 40 pouches per box cost me $22.00. Pretty good price!
Pretty sure this is what they are serving at Red Lobster when I order iced tea. I get it unsweetened without lemon. I am reviewing this because when a restaurant prepares tea well it should get noticed. The tea at our nearby RL is always fresh, and always has enough bite to be interesting. Maybe it is their water, or the temp, or the timing – maybe it is all of them. I have had so many sour or instant tasting bad teas at restaurants that this one stands out.
Don’t judge me. The rating is based on my happiness level compared with other restaraunts teas.
This is my go-to tea when I’m having a bad day. It’s easy, it doesn’t require me to think or do anything special or even pay attention while I’m making it. I resteep it and it stays good. I think someone else described it as taking abuse well – and that’s be best way to describe it. I can use boiling water or water straight from my tap and it still does the job. It doesn’t have a particularly strong taste…but it’s warm and comforting. Better than some of the other Tetley varieties I’ve tried that seem to be bland without any redeeming qualities.
I love this with a little honey and a dash of milk in the summer. Very nice for a bagged tea. When I can’t afford loose leaf, I know I can find comfort with this one. I also love the Black Currant one for winter.
My Favourite..Was told by Tetley that they are still making it although not many stores are stocking it..Highland Farms stores in the Toronto area may be the only ones..I used to buy it at Fortinos at Eastgate mall up until April but sadly they no longer carry it. I requested to the manager to try and get some more in even though it’s off the list
I like this tea. It’s simple and perfect with milk and sugar, it isn’t close to being my favorite but I’d consider it a staple in my cupboard since I can always go to it if I can’t make up my mind. It is my Mother’s favorite (she won’t drink anything else) and so I’ve grown up with it.
Preparation
This is the standard tea for iced tea in my house. It does the job, and there is always a pitcher of it in the fridge.
Preparation
The first few mouthfuls, this is like “Hmm it tastes like hot ice cream with a hint of tea. Not bad.” Unfortunately before I finished the cup it changed to “Hmm. This tastes like hot ice cream with a hint of tea. Pretty grim.” I finished that cup, gave it one more chance, and will likely never go back…
On reflection, maybe I shouldn’t have added milk and sugar, but that’s automatic for me.
Long story short, I’ve been seeking refuge at the in-laws because the bf and I found fleas at home. Not a huge infestation, but enough to send me into a cleaning and panic frenzy for the past few days (probably more to come). And since I don’t have my tea gadgets here, I wanted something simple and bagged.
This will do! Nice and strong, half a teaspoon of sugar, and I can calm down for a little while.
Love the play doh reference! Ha! Had tea with my 3 grandsons couple of days ago…wish you could see the photo…sooo cute. Each got a tea set in a special box from their Uncle for Christmas and they are so proud of them. I ordered Monkey Fart tea just for the name to give to them. Think we need a boys catagory or tea’s with great cool names.
Absolutely agree Bonnie! I’ve got two myself, and so far, they love tea :)
