I made this in the mason jar tonight when I got home – I was dying to see what it looked like when it was bloomed! I must say, the show didn’t disappoint – this was so pretty to look at.

Sadly, the taste was a real let down; definitely not as good at the taste of last night’s bloom tea – that’s for sure. The hibiscus was present (though not immensely strong) and it really clashed/conflicted with the extreme vegetalness of the green tea and the floral aspects of this blend. Plus, there’s the fact that I typically just dislike vegetal tea in general.

And then, even worse, it got bitter pretty quickly – which is somewhat understandable because the tea just sits in the water continuously steeping, but this seemed especially bad.

All that said, I think I’m going to send one of the blooms to VariaTEA so, if nothing else, she can see how pretty it is and I can lessen the number I have, but I really do hope she enjoys it more than I did.

PS. My rating for this one incorporates the taste and the aesthetics.

Bummer the flavor didn’t live up to expectations… at least it was pretty.

VariaTEA

Oh dear. I don’t know if I should be excited or afraid.

Add sweetened condensed milk to this tea and then it is a sweet tasting tea, with a white grape flavor that lingers on the tongue…I like it, it was a Christmas gift from my mom :)

Daughter and mother tea party, Volcano Flower Burst and turkey sandwiches…FUN! The resultant tea was pleasant with a lemon taste to it. Nothing better than watching your tea grow before your eyes in a pretty clear glass teapot.

Wonderful caramel aroma and it tastes so much better with brown sugar, brings out the caramel flavour…or adds it…one or the other.

There is a Lichee taste for sure, but not the greatest tasting tea, not one I would buy.

Not much flavour and I can just taste the blueberry, white teas are subtle, but this is too subtle…

I fixed for myself today this fine Ceylon tea with a steep time of five minutes. Tea’s color is lovely malt amber and the aroma is of the apple spice with a rich smoothness in the cup when sipping of this tea.

Why I like having this tea is because of what the spices conjure for this time of year; heady cinnamon with crisp apple taste leaving a slight tartness with every gulp when swallowed. The aroma is most enticing as it makes you feel warm and tingly; appreciative of being inside where it is warm and comfortable.

Yes, another fixing of this Miesna Christmas Tea. I find this day calls for warm cider and since I don’t have warm cider, I am having a cup of this tea instead. I open the little crate box by sliding the wooden lid off and remove one tea bag from the foiled package. I must say it is heady in that it smells of cider…there is tartness in the air and it is lovely.

I put the bag in my cup and pour in the boiled water and leave it to steep for five minutes. After which I take the tea to view tea’s color and it is does resemble that of apple cider with that caramel color or cinnamon.

I sip and sip the tea slowly since it is very hot and spicy seeming to be laced with cinnamon, cloves and apple. The tea is both sweetly and tart with slight drying effect which is quenched with more sips of this tea.

I like the tea’s color and aroma and taste is most pleasing in that it’s both sweet and tart and the tea warm you all over. This is a lovely tea and not just for Christmas.

This tea I obtained during a visit to Mullens Herbal Tea House in Barre, MA. This is not one of their house brand and was not too expensive for my budget.

I like the little wooden chest-like box that this tea comes in depicting Santa Claus on the cover. I must also note that I have had several teas made by the Metropolitan Tea Company, Ltd.; a recent one was The Boston Tea Party Blend, purchased while visiting a tearoom in Rockport, MA.

Once I figured out how to open the tea chest (made of wood which has a panel to slide when opening and closing), I take out the foil wrapping and open the bag to find individual tea bags inside.

I take one tea bag of the Miesna Tea and put this in my cup and adding freshly boiled water to my cup I leave it to steep for five minutes. The tea brews a darken reddish brown color and the aroma is really like apple cider similarly to the color of the tea…hints of honey as well.

I sip the tea slowly to take in the aroma with the apple taste and when swallowed there is that drying tartness that forms in the back of the throat.

2nd Steeping:
Water temperature: 200 Fahrenheit

I add more hot water to the tea bag and let it steep and I added sugar to the tea which seems to make it milder and syrup like cider. It would seem this tea is best sweetened. The apple spices stands out more in the cup making for a warmth-full cup of spiced apple tea.

This really is good tea for this time year.
