I bought this tea for a family member, but ended up drinking it because they were too lazy to brew looseleaf. I picked it because it smelled delicious and I’m a sucker for a caramel black tea. This tea does loose its aroma as stated in another note, so you do have to drink it piping if you enjoy the scent. The flavour however doesn’t live up to its smell and I found myself struggling to find the caramel flavour.
I see I tried this tea before and didnt really love it. It’s not really a Christmas tea, but I am craving caramel, so wanted this one next. Added frothed light cream…..and starbucks caramel syrup. Who knows what the actual tea tastes like now, but this combo is very creamy smmoth sweet caramel – yum!
Enjoying the tea with a bit of #83 dark chocolate from Thomas Haas. Thomas Haas is a vancouver pastry chef and chocolatier. I really enjoyed my visits to his chocolate shop this season. The place was always packed, but his helper “elves” were giving out cookies while we waited in line, Thomas was singing….very cheery atmosphere….and of course…..you were surrounded by chocolate! Anyway this caramel tea, with cream and an extra caramel shot is a de-lish treat.
I have been on the hunt for a nice caramel black tea…..I thought this might be the one……unfortunately, I don’t get enough caramel……it is a nice smooth black tea, but if I didn’t know it was caramel tea, I don’t think I could tell from the taste……sad face……….I high hopes for this urban tea merchant caramel tea….but I think there is a better one out there……so…..the caramel tea hunt continues…..
This was the tea that – for me – started it all. I first tried this at a party held in UTM’s tea salon, selecting it from their vast tea menu after much deliberation. I am not sorry I did. It has a smooth caramel taste that is an absolute delight. I brought some home to enjoy, and now I am hopelessly addicted to loose leaf tea.
