I have had slight sinus and tickly throat irritations for a few days now, and I decided to try this because there was a bag of it in a tea tin that my housemate’s mom gave to us. It tasted wonderful! Lemony and sweet. I could feel it soothing my throat as I drank it, and for a little while after, too. It’s not going to help against strep or anything serious like that, but it can make recovering from a minor cold quite pleasant.
I swear by echinacea! This is my favorite herbal blend with it. It’s amazing with a little organic honey.
It tastes earthy and mildly minty. Lots of umami. It’s a bit like Tulsi; flavor-wise, it isn’t the most thrilling thing ever, but in terms of how it makes me feel while I’m drinking it and afterward, it’s spectacular! I really only make it during the winter or during seasonal transitions. Basically, the times when getting sick is really likely.
In this case today, I’m also trying to finish the box to make room in my tea chest.
Flavors: Earth, Nuts
I’ve had a dry, tickly cough since last night. I am determined not to get sick! It’s not happening!
I swear by echinacea teas- I have three different blends of it. However, I only haul out the big guns (this pharmaceutical-grade Traditional Medicinal blend) when I feel that illness is eminent.
There’s a certain quality to echinacea that I love. It’s not floral, and it’s not nutty. I would say that it’s… earthy. It tastes like a really pleasant, natural medicine. This blend also tastes warm and buttery. It goes down really smoothly. I can’t say that I’m experiencing a tingling feeling on my tongue, like the box says, but I have no doubt that I’m drinking tea made with quality ingredients.
Traditional Medicinals has a way of perfectly balancing really really good taste and also honestly making you feel better. Hard to do with blends that are supposed to be medicinal. Celestial Seasonings has had to change the flavors of their Wellness Teas several times because of that.
Anyway, props to you, Traditional Medicinals. I hope this works, because I loathe being sick.
I am usually not a huge fan of herbal teas, their medicinal quality and usefulness aside I never drink them for pleasure…because usually they taste kinda gross. This tea was a pleasant surprise!
The taste is very mild and slightly sweet, not at all bitter or medicinal tasting. It had a very floral flavor and the subtle flavors of the tea are brought out with just a touch of honey.
The aroma is that of a summer field, very green and floral, not at all unpleasant.
The best part is it seems to be working, the tea claims to help relax you and help you sleep and I certainly feel relaxed and sleepy. A wonderful before bed tea!
Blegh. Desperate measures, and all that…
Trying to record audio for a class project, so naturally my throat feels all clogged up suddenly. I think it’s psychosomatic. This tea should fix it, either way.
yup, still tastes vile. Desperate times call for desperate measures though. And honey, lots of honey…
Drinkable when hot, with honey, but really unpalatable as it cools. I took a sip, nearly gagged, and dumped it out. Probably the licorice/anise plus maybe the “slippery elm” (maybe it’s jut power of suggestion, but I swear the tea felt “slippery”) Anyway, I have no idea if the half mug I choked down helped my throat. I doubt it. I will file this one away as definitely “for medicinal use only.” Some herbals I actually enjoy drinking, but this isn’t one of them!
Preparation
This really mostly tastes of mint and chamomile. I wish the mint was stronger though, it tastes less-than-fresh to me? Maybe I’m just a mint snob!
Not really noticing it making me any more sleepy. In the future I think I’d pass this one up for just plain mint (it’d be cheaper).
Sigh… I’m still here. Baby is now 5 days overdue and I’m on day 6 of pre-labour contractions, but nothing regular enough to send me to the hospital to deliver this kid! I’m exhausted. I’m weary. I’m ready to meet this little boy of mine!
I’ve tried everything: walking, cleaning the bathroom, cleaning the kitchen, climbing stairs 40x, walking some more, driving on bumpy roads (effects my bladder more than my uterus), more walking, shoveling snow, eating pineapple, and now… drinking mug after mug of this tea.
I’ll be honest. This tea tastes… like… leaves, but not in a vegetal, spinachy kind of way. It tastes like vegetation. Not the most pleasant taste, but if it advances my labour then I’ll drink as much as I can stomach! Let’s get this baby out, shall we?
Preparation
This is probably TMI but I used to belong to La Leche League and they used to recommend massaging your nipples or trying to get your milk started could help release those hormones and get the baby out!
