Based on the look of the picture and the description, this sounds exactly like Gyokuro Blend Sencha by Yamamotoyama. The leaves have big pieces in them, that look like Kukicha/Karigane (the twigs and bottom parts of the leaf), but also a lot of very very small leaves, which looks like Fukamushi (deep steamed) which breaks up the leaves further into smaller pieces like that. I’m curious now to see if it is the same….

So my mum sent this to me in the mail, including a really neat infuser! This is the first loose leaf tea I’ve tried and I really enjoy it. As of yet it’s also the first tea I can fully enjoy without any additives.
I had to add this tea myself because It seems no other steepster has had the pleasure of rating it!
I couldn’t find even one other Kawayanagi tea. I guess it makes sense because this is supposedly a rare tea not often seen outside of Japan (according to the description I copied from http://www.tributetea.com/green_tea_kawa.asp
Anyway, it indeed has a nice full bodied flavor that reminds me of something I can’t quite put my finger on. I hope those with a bit more time ( and better command of the english language) can add a nice review on this tea as I’m currently very much enjoying :)
