yay! work from home day! only 3 more days including today before i go on so i’m looking forward to that even if i have to work part of the time. still enjoying this one, though i think this time around, i prefer the yu lu a little more. i tend to flip flop depending on harvest heh
running low on my verdant teas and probably should have stocked up when the feb sale was happening but i didn’t. On the plus side it means i’m being good with my cupboard and working on getting it down….but it also means i’ll need to restock at some point, now i just have to wait for the next sale. This one hit the spot today in that delicious sort of malty goodness way.
6 days working from home/weekend with the rental dog over holidays = going to work to stop from going stir crazy even though the weather is full of freezing rain and gross. So teh tea, it came with me :) Today this was one of my three teas and nice to revisit since it seems likes it’s been a while since i had this one. Not as delicious as the first year, but not as terrible as last year’s version…so hip hip horray for improvements! :)
Finished off the last of this from yesterday but not sad since i know there’s more on the way eventually. Just happy to keep making progress on my cupboard.
mm…delicious malty goodness. will help me get through the rest of this evening. At least i get a nights sleep tonight without the dog. i hope. Just have to get through folks coming over to our place to stream the game or possibly have the house to myself while they all go out. I know which one i’m rooting for except that the dog will prevent me from really relaxing if they do leave.
2015 harvest. This one is a little more bready than i recall, but it’s still smooth and has those chocolatey notes that i enjoy. i think in the grand scheme of things 2015>2014 but i’m not sure that i could qualify it against earlier harvests :) bumping the rating up a bit for this year’s harvest
Still haven’t gotten the 2015 harvests of anything from anywhere, except a few sheng from verdant. Hoping to place an order soon!
2014 yuckier harvest of this one + cacao = much more drinkable. Very nearly done with this one and happy for it. here’s hoping 2015 is a better year!
this + campfire blend = much better than straight zhu rong
So i was right. This + Campfire blend means i can finally work on drinking the rest of this up, since i haven’t been a huge fan of this harvest. The addition of campfire blend makes the notes that i don’t like in last years harvest soften. the two blended makes for an enjoyable cup.
dropping the rating on this one a little. 2014 harvest and i am not a fan. it’s been a struggle to work my way through drinking this 2oz and there’s still a bunch left. It’s just not the same tea that it was in 2013.
Thanks for the very helpful 2013 / 2014 comparison of this popular Verdant tea. How are the popular 2015 Verdant black teas?
I haven’t ordered any yet…i also think the preorders are just coming in now? yu lu in 2014 worked better for me than 2013. laoshan black hasn’t been the same in 2012 heh
Correct, preorders coming in now. Zhu Rong Yunnan currently out of stock – already!? 2015 yu lu available for $6.75/oz. w/10% discount for preordering. Weren’t these two teas about ~$5/oz. for 2014?
Spring Harvest Laoshan Black – $8.75/oz.! http://verdanttea.com/teas/laoshan-black/
The following appears to be a much better value:

There is a slight problem with Ali. You may get completely diff tea from what you ordered. I had this and don’t want to gamble anymore. The seller was reputable with high feedback. 3 times wrong tea. Common :(

slow tea drinking day today…lots to do this weekend so trying to take it easy and get ready for packaging up some swaps and such :) while i have loved this tea in the past, this harvest still isn’t my favourite. I’m hoping that 2015 is a better year for my fav teas…though i was looking at verdant’s site and it looks like prices are going up AND the tin options aren’t currently available. makes me a sad panda.
i’ve been slacktacular with my tea logging the past week. Not sure what it is but i am seriously de-motivated by almost everything – work, tea, house stuff… just want to go away or change things up, but the more i look at things to do and places to go, the more it sucks ‘cause i really can’t afford to do much this year until the we get through all of the wedding related things. I swear to god if we have kids and they get married, if they want to elope or have a destination wedding or something teeeeny, tiny, i will let them! haha
This has been one that i’ve been trying to pick up more frequently, if only so that i run out of my verdant teas at the same time for a re-order lol. It’s still tasty and delicious though this harvest wasn’t as amazing as the last. :)
