Backlogging from Saturday (there were Internet issues, grr) – thank you to one of my favorite people, JoeCool (Nichole) for sending a package of this my way. If you like chamomile, you’ll love this take on the herbal favorite. While there are supposed to be notes of lavender and rose, I only tasted chamomile from beginning to end. However, it was a satisfying cup – helped my upset tummy and my insomnia. Overall, a good tisane.

This is smoky and minty – bliss, really. It’s cooling to the palate and senses, but with a hint of smoky tea, enough to keep you interested. I drink this all the time, especially in the afternoons. It’s stress-relieving as well! :) A pantry must-have!

One of the best Moroccan Mints on the market. LOVE it! :) (See other note – I’m not feeling very descriptive today and this note doesn’t do the tea justice.)

Guess this is a new one? Oh well – it’s awesome! It’s just the right amount of mint and smoky gunpowder green. I love any gunpowder green tea, and this is one of the best.

This was my wake up tea today. The aroma upon opening the bag is fruity and grassy, as I’d expect from a flavored green tea.

175/2 min – Now, the fruit scent is more mellow and a bit deeper. Not as pineapple sweet anymore, but more like apple and melon. I can taste the fruit, except I don’t taste the pomegranate, but I can see pieces of it in the wet tea leaves. It is slightly tangy and very slightly bitter, but not overpowering. It’s a very pleasant tea and I imagine this would be a nice afternoon or early evening tea as well.

I really love this tea. Everything from the scent upon opening the package… roasted coconut, yum! To the scent once brewed… roasted coconut, yum! To the taste… roasted coconut… yum! It’s all delicious! The sencha makes a fabulous base for this tea, which adds a freshness to the flavor. It’s ever so slightly bitter, but not cringingly so. I might go a tad easier on the steep time. (175/3 min) The tea company says that there’s ginger in here. Without having read that, I’d say no, but now I’m tasting and thinking, perhaps… just a tad. It’s very light and doesn’t add spiciness to the tea.

drank Mango Away by White August

The tea in the bag smells delicious! I can clearly pick out the mango scent among the black tea.

205/3 min (The minimum recommended time.)

Okay, I’m not really able to smell the mango as much, but it’s still present. Just majorly subdued. Mostly, I can smell the black tea, very vegetal. (Oh no.)

Taste… well, the vegetal smell is there for a reason. It’s very vegetal tasting, and strong. I’m wondering why it calls for a 3-5 minute steep when clearly it’s too much for this tea. (I don’t add anything to my teas.) All I can taste is the black tea, even though I can slightly smell the mango. It was smothered by the tea and the too long steep time. The tea is okay, but nothing that really stands out. It’s slightly bitter. Not too much, but enough that it makes drinking it a bit of a chore, and that’s never a good thing.

I don’t intend to purchase this again, but if I did, I’d most certainly go with about a two minute steep time to reduce the bitterness and hopefully reclaim some of the mango flavor that was lost in the steep.

I love Silver Needle whites, but they can be a temperamental b**ch of a tea, lemme tell ya. One minute off on your steep, and you’re looking at spinach broth. That was certainly the case here on my first attempt. On a second try with a fresh batch of leaves, I lowered the brew time by thirty seconds. The results were an only-slightly vegetal cup with melon and nut notes. It also had a creamy aftertaste that was mostly unexpected. Decent by Yinzhen standards, which – for me – are quite high.

This was the goldest of the Golden Monkeys I’ve ever come across. It resembled a Yunnan Gold instead of its other Fujian brethren, which merely had flecks of gold. The taste reflected the visual presentation; autum flush-like malt and muscatel notes and a caramel-honey/apricot finish. It’s a damn good golden cup.

Wow! This tea totally took me by surprise. I have enjoyed all of the teas that I’ve tried from WhiteAugust thus far, but this one may just be my favorite. It is so interesting and complex. The flavor is creamy and sweet, fruity, nutty, and with a delightful hint of rose throughout the sip. Delicious!

If you’re on the fence about ordering from this company… well, hop off the fence and TRY this one! It’s amazing!!!

This is a very fun tea. The sprinkles melt while steeping and add just a hint of sweetness. The flavor is vanilla-creamy like a cupcake! I like this one very much!

The black tea is not an overwhelmingly robust tea – a very mild Ceylon. The touch of vanilla is a light touch and doesn’t overpower the tea at all… it’s very subtle.

Another White August Tea Company Tea…I really love the selection this company has!

This is a nicely flavored white tea. It has Papaya, Almonds, and Rose. The Papaya and Rose walk hand-in-hand and create a unique flavor of their own and the rose is fairly strong but not over powering and a welcoming addition to the scent and taste! It has a semi-floral and semi-fruity aftertaste that is more than pleasing to my palate!

Another goodie!

Smoochety

How does the almond flavor play out?

TeaEqualsBliss

It’s not overly almond by any means…but you can tell there is a smoother-nutty flavor there slightly

Smoochety

oh, nice. That’s what I was hoping for.
Also, do you have any recommendations on a tea with coconut?

TeaEqualsBliss

Tea with Coconut!!!! YES! Which kinds of tea bases are you looking for – anything specific like black or oolong or just anything coconut???

Smoochety

Hmm.. black would be good best with coconut I think… but anything you can recommend is great :)

TeaEqualsBliss

Oh! There are TONS out there! Try a Coconut Pouchong tho! Awesome Oolong! :) This morning I had Coconut Cream Pie from 52 Teas…I really like that for a black Coconut one! PM me and I will see what else I can find. OR…if you are on gchat let me know!

The aroma of this reminds me of Pumpkin Pie – light on the actual pie (or crust) part, I guess!

This is a flavored Rooibos but still a nice tasting rooibos with the flavoring! The added ingredients aren’t very extreme…they are a bit on the light side…maybe more of a light-medium on the flavoring scale. I’m tasting the cinnamon a little bit more than the ginger and it’s comparable to a pastry-type-cinnamon flavoring not a hot or spicy-food type cinnamon. The more I drink this the more I like this! YUM!

Heaven!

The aroma of this one is out of this world! Chocolate Covered Cherries to a TEA…lol…

The Black Tea strength was comparable to a medium strength black. The Dark Chocolate flavor was genius but not too much to handle…it blended very well with the other flavors! The Cherry was NOT bitter or tart but juicy and really made you think you were consuming a chocolate covered cherry! YUM! The Schiandra berry flavor was more noticeable as the tea cooled or if you were to have it iced. The creaminess chimed in on the aftertaste more than anything else.

I would certainly add this one to my list of teas to purchase! YumYum!!!!

Delicious! I love the balance of flavors here. The green tea and passion fruit share the cup pleasantly. It is sweet and juicy with just a hint of tart. Yum!!!

The brewed liquor smells amazing. Flowery-Gingery-Tropical – my mind immediately wanders to the Hawaiian Ginger plant that my gramma had in her back yard. I don’t know that it smells like this (it’s been so long since I’ve experienced that aroma), but, it evokes lovely memories so I love that.

It is a delicious tea. The flavors are mild – the green tea dominates, but, not by much. The ginger is not over-the-top peppery here, it tastes more floral. A lovely floral-fruit and gently spiced tea.

At first I thought this smelled a cit like a Charcoal Oolong but as I infused it started smelling more like oolong and cocoa mix…ahhhhh! Very nice! This brews up a bit darker than I expected. But I really do love the aroma! As for the taste there is a bit of sweet-cocoa type taste along side a roasted charcoal type taste – a meet in the middle sort of combo of the two, really. It’s a tad woodsy but very nice! I like this one a lot! NomNom…and NOM.

Prior to infusing this smells like Chocolate Milk!!!! Sweet Chocolate Milk!
After infusing it does lose a lot of the sweet aroma but you can still smell cocoa or chocolate just not as sweet and not nearly as strong. The taste is primarily Yerba Mate. The Sweet Chocolate flavor comes thru nicely but I would LOVE to try it with even more Chocolate flavor! There seems to be a little Rooibos Flavor coming thru too. This is tasty! A very good flavored Yerba Mate! YUM!

This smells like Pineapple, Jasmine, and Green Tea! It tastes like gentle flowers, tropical fruit, and green tea. The Green tea is the main flavor and it’s not a grassy green but it’s not super sweet or buttery either…probably inbetween all of those. The sip starts off smooth and goes into more of the fruit towards the end of the sip…almost like mixed fruit…pineapple, pear, cherry, etc…

What a delightfully flavored green! It smells like green tea, passionfruit, and flowers. It tastes more passionfruit than flowers but the green tea taste really shines here so the flavoring is most gentle than most. This is pretty good!
