I am a huge licorice fan so to find this taste in a tea is excellent and makes it an automatic favorite for me. Because I really want to get that taste out I prefer this tea steeped for several minutes, and it doesn’t taste as strong if you re-use the tea bag a second time (as I often do at work) so that brings my rating down a bit. I agree with the other notes that the mint isn’t a strong component, but its hard to say without a direct comparison to their non-mint version. I’ll definitely try that one as well. This tea is definitely flavorful enough on its own that you shouldn’t need any milk or sweeteners.
Preparation
I really hate the taste of this stuff, but it works. When I am feeling ‘above and beyond’ stressed out, I turn to this tea and it takes me out of my tense headspace. Unfortunately, it just has that terrible licorice-sarsaparilla flavor that makes me think ‘…if it wasn’t effective…’ – but on the upside, it takes me out of my head, as I shmeck and make faces. Keep this around for when you really need to unclench.
Preparation
Why does this taste like apples? There are no apples in it, but that is what I taste. This tea tastes like a cinnamon apple to me. I’m not getting much coconut flavor (I wish I was!). I am tasting the fennel/anise flavor in the background. Whoa… and that sip had a smidgen of cocoa.
It’s an ok tea. I maybe should have brewed it longer or used less water.
Thanks for the sample Lisbet!
Preparation
oh idk… weird. i kinda taste it back in my throat. that sweetness. chili kick lasts just short.
like the ginger of yogi teas but this one is still weird. too sweet or to weird idk. well made tea tho, just doesn’t match my taste…
Preparation
I really hate licorice, but Kristin sent me a bag of this, so I sucked it up and tried it. It reminds me of the tea they give out free samples of in Aveda stores and sell loose. I actually used to enjoy that tea. I DO feel like the licorice is fairly strong in this, with an herby, peppery undertone to it. The taste of this could certainly be relaxing for a lot of people, so if you like chais (although this doesn’t taste like chai), or like anise, do try this. I feel like my dislike of it is really subjective. Oh, and this really really reminds me of one of Yogi Teas’ medicinal blends- perhaps throat coat? I can’t remember, but the taste is super familiar and has a strong cinnamon component. It’s one of the ones that I try to get through when I need it for health reasons.
Preparation
Man, you are not having any luck today! I can’t even imagine licorice in tea. bleah. Although I also liked Aveda’s tea.
Well I deliberately brought a couple of the ones I didn’t think I’d like to school with me so I’d be forced to try them using water cooler water. :)
This is a good and relaxing blend. I could drink it all day, I really could. I like the combination of spice and fruit in here, although as I said, it’s got quite a spicy pepper-ginger kick to it. I feel like it even calms me a bit, which is much appreciated. I don’t know that I actually drink it often enough to gain the benefits it promises, but even a bit here and there is a good start, right?
A spicy little blend. Tastes like a variety of chai and I suppose there’s some peach in here somewhere, but it’s a bit subsumed by the chai-ness. I taste the ginger more than anything else, which makes me want to use this as a tummy woog remedy. As for detoxing or cleansing, I read the reviews on yogiproducts.com with interest, hoping that my skin would start glowing or I’d feel lighter or something. Well, this definitely tastes better than the “Skin Detox” blend they make, so I’ll keep drinking it and hope it either works or I can get a good placebo effect going on.
Preparation
This tastes like a combination of thai iced tea, coconut milk, and the candy coated fennel that Indian restaurants often have by the register. It’s pretty sweet, so much so that I can’t imagine adding anything to it, but not in the sickening range. The rooibos is definitely present, but in the background. The very last taste is a bit of a spicy kick from the cinnamon and anise. I’d call this a must try for anyone interested in an unusual decaf tea. Just… be sure you don’t mind coconut or you’ll be in a tiny piece of hell.
Preparation
Heh no, but one of my samples was the Detox I reviewed the other day. I went and bought a new box of (Peach) detox today. I have so many Yogi Tea coupons that I keep buying tons of their teas.
And I have 2 samples of Yogi tea waiting to go in your next package already! 2 of my samples (out of 4) were green tea (migraines).
I debated NOT reviewing this tea because, y’know, there’s a little TMI inherent in it. But I make a lot of use of this particular herbal blend, so it’s only fair. And I AM drinking it. The taste is very generically herbal- nothing much sweet in here, nothing much to take note of in general. I have noticed that this seems to help with my moodiness, cramps, and even a bit with the weird hormonal night sweats I have periodically gotten for years (gah). Give it a shot- it really does work best if you drink 2 cups a day for a couple of days.
Preparation
I didn’t even know of the existence of this type of tea so maybe it’s good that you posted! The things I learn on Steepster! The other day, I learned of the existence of allergy-relief type tea, too!
On a day when I already did a Detox yoga routine (Ana Brett/Ravi Singh- highly recommended; try Amazon.com) I though this couldn’t hurt. And Yogi is letting you send free samples to friends right now via their website so I got to pick this out courtesy of Kristin.
I can’t speak much for the effectiveness of this in actually detoxing my body, but it tastes bearable (I like the Peach version better though.) It’s almost peppery, with a slightly sweet background note. It’s definitely quintessentially ‘herbal tea’. I might actually try a box of this, and if I do I’ll update about whether I notice any actual effects. I’d love to drink a bag every time I do the detox yoga routine.
Preparation
This, to me, tastes pretty much like all herbal teas taste. Call me a snob, but to me they all taste the same, and this is how they taste.
But I am fighting off a cold, so here I am.
Preparation
Yep, it’s green tea! Nothing particularly good, nor bad about this tea. It’s a better than average bagged green, and great for enjoying in the evening should you react to caffeine as I do. Important to follow the steeping instructions, because this one seems to get bitter more quickly than the loose greens we have in the house. Could be my imagination.
Preparation
My husband brought a box of this home for us because we’re both trying to get over bad colds. Neither of us is breathing particularly deep right now. I think it’s funny that the last time I reviewed this was a year ago… when I had a cold. Alas.
So, same thoughts on the taste- it’s herby herby herby (thyme with a hint of rosemary) and definitely licorice-y. But it does help, so it’s worth choking down even if you can’t stand licorice. It’s sort of like licking the herb shelf of a spice cabinet. Though my husband thinks I am still tasting dinner when I say this, my review last year said the exact same thing so I’m stickin’ with it.
Preparation
I’m definitely not drinking this for taste, and at any rate, my head is too stuffed up to taste much anyway. This is a good thing, because I dislike the taste of licorice. What taste I can get from this is intensely herby with a licorice aftertaste. It tastes the way dried thyme smells. It’s not unpleasant, and what’s more- it does work. I stopped blowing my nose halfway through the cup, and can breathe through it. I’m tempted to just carry around a cup of this until my cold passes.
Preparation
I wish I wasn’t drinking this, because when I break this box out, it means I feel pretty lousy. I have noticed that this herbal remedy does make me feel a bit more energetic when I am down, but I have never drunk enough of it to assess whether it shortens the duration of a cold. I will note that I have failed to get ill quite a few times when I thought I was going to, after treating myself with a few bags of this tea. Tastes a bit green and a bit minty, like a slightly odd mint tea. Good job hiding the taste of echinacea! Doesn’t quite make the ’I’d drink it for the flavor’ list, but it’s not bad at all.
