drank Stomach Ease by Yogi Tea
433 tasting notes

Recovering from some kind of 24-hour stomach bug today and couldn’t find my normal go-to stomach tea (Tension Tamer from Celestial Seasonings). This is my first time drinking Yogi Tea and it’s not bad. I’m definitely not fan of licorice, so I was a little worried about this blend, but it’s okay. I am not really noticing that it’s helping my stomach yet but I’m sure it won’t hurt! Probably not anything I would drink if I weren’t feeling so crappy, though.

edit
Yeah, it definitely didn’t make my stomach feel better. Maybe it works better for tension rather than stomach bug recovery.

You have to really enjoy medicinal teas to like this. Unfortunately, I cannot stand licorice root, one of the ingredients in this tea. However, for stronger stomach’s than mine, I recommend this tea because I support the Yogi brand and I like the idea of a Super Antioxidant Green Tea. Why not? We could all use the extra protection from those pesky free radicals.

I don’t honestly know whether the hype about kombucha is true. I’ve heard astounding claims made about its efficacy, and claims made that it does nothing. Either way, this tea tastes pretty good. The green is mostly a backdrop, and what I taste is a mild papaya. This makes a great after dinner tea as it cleanses the palette and purportedly helps with digestion. Fruit teas are very hit or miss with me, so I wasn’t sure whether I was getting myself in trouble buying it. I definitely don’t taste the spearmint, and wouldn’t have identified lemongrass a component on my own either- it really tastes more like fruit to me.

It’s a nice Berry Tea, It’s not to strong, and could do with a bit of sweetner, but doesn’t need it…It’s good with a but of honey I’m told (I am allergic) But If your a hard to please Berry Tea person you might like it.

I love this tea, I was a bit afraid of the Lycorice in it to begn with ( I hate Lycorice.) But I can hardly taste it while drinking, Its a subtle sweetness that comes up in your throat after you swallow, wich sounds wierd, but It’s quite pleasant. My Friends sister and I call it “Magic Tea”

Lena sent me a bag of this in a box with some other stuff and I’m actually glad that she did because I always thought this tea sounded interesting, but I wasn’t brave enough to buy a whole box.

The smell of the dry teabag was kind of…unfortunate. It’s like ginger, licorice, and cayenne pepper all had a huge orgy or something. It was just so many strong scents at once that it was overpowering. Luckily when I added the water it toned down and there was actually a bit of a cocoa scent that creeped in aswell.

I was afraid that the tea would be hideously spicy, but it actually wasn’t bad – certainly not any hotter than a straight gingerroot tea might be. There’s a surprisingly sweet taste at the beginning – probably from the licorice root – and the heat follows behind it, although it’s slow to build up so it almost seems to creep up on you. It’s a very intriguing tea but I’m not sure the various ingredients mesh that well. Glad I got to try it though!

Just like I get frustrated with hibiscus-happy fruit teas, I dislike spice teas that lead with licorice. I’ve tried this, and if the licorice were left out, it might not be bad.

Jillian

The licorice isn’t that bad in this tea, even though it is quite noticable. It’s nowhere near my utter loathing of hibiscus though.

Tastes cardamom-y to me. If I didn’t know that’s what I was tasting, maybe I’d think it was vanilla or hazelnut… but probably not. On the upside, I don’t mind cardamom. Gets sweeter the longer the bag sits.

drank Classic India Spice by Yogi Tea

I bought this to go with some homemade Indian food, and because it was purely herbal and wouldn’t keep me up afterwords. I made this with hot milk and a dash of honey, and it was a great chai. It resembled the chai I’ve gotten in Indian restaurants a lot more than anything else I’ve ever bought, despite it not having masala as a component. I like that I can combine this with green, black, or rooibos tea depending on my mood.

drank Skin DeTox by Yogi Tea

I’m going to update this when I can give a better sense of how it works on my skin. In the meantime, the taste is definitely not my motivation for drinking it- the flavor is very floral, a strong rose scent and taste. The perfumey nature of the rose obscures the other notes for me.

SoccerMom

Sorry about the taste. Hope it helps the skin! :)

Cofftea

This actually sounds good- but the name sounds like a lot of hype.

SoccerMom

Oh I just realized your in Houston. Yea a fellow Houstonian!!!

Lisbet

It may very well be hype- folks on the yogiteas website seem to have reported good results. I’ll be keeping an eye on my skin. Most of Yogi Teas’ teas actually do produce results, so I’m at least hopeful.

When I have a bag of bland chai, I combine it with this to kick up the taste. But this is spicier than I remember it. Maybe too lively for most, but it goes well with honey and soy milk.

This is the tea that converted me to rooibos. I believe they have since renamed/discontinued this tea, but it is a very enjoyable, pleasantly sweet and mildly spicy red tea. Very fragrant.

drank Green Goji Berry by Yogi Tea

I had a couple bags of this at a friend’s house over the weekend. I’ll admit I was first seduced by the pretty box (sigh, it’s a weakness). The tea inside the pretty box was only “meh” unfortunately. I didn’t find it had a whole lot of flavour even though I left the tea bag in the travel mug the entire time I was drinking it. There was just a hint of berry tang/sweetness over the mild green tea flavour and that’s about it. The fact that I added a bit of table cream (craving creamy drinks all weekend, no idea why!) may have been at least partially responsible for the somewhat bland tea. Thankfully (and surprisingly!) there was no bitterness whatsoever, despite the fact that my friend made it with boiling water and the aforementioned oversteeping.

I’d say this is a tea I would drink, but not bother to buy myself.

For anyone who noticed: Yes, I did say I drank this twice, but I feel I can only base my review on the one occasion as the other was rather affected by adding a generous helping of Amarula Cream Liquor. Though that drink deserves a tongue-sticking-out-smiley rating ;).

Another tea found at work! This would be the last (proper) tea that I’ve found here. The color is a nice deep red/pink from the hibiscus. Can’t really taste much of the green from this, so it comes off more as an herbal blend, but it’s still enjoyable. I recommend as a nice detour from normal green teas.

drank Breathe Deep by Yogi Tea

I have trouble with my sinuses year round, and was a bit skeptical that this tea would even put a dent in them. However, I was surprised how effective it has been. The flavor of the tea is a little on the sweet side, but overall I find it pleasant.

I have found that if you are a little congested 1 bag for 10 minutes and drink while hot. However, if you are in a bad way try 2 bags in 1 cup of water for 10 minutes. Hope it works well for you.

drank Ginger by Yogi Tea

The black pepper is a nice touch and goes very well with the ginger! Make sure you don’t steep too long or it will become very spicy. Great for cold winter nights and/or tummyaches.

lordy, lordy, how it tastes weird this time. i got no idea what i did. i mean its a teabag – should taste same each time. maybe me eating peanutbutter filled sticks might change my perception so much… im so puzzled – its like the put one bag of different tea in the wrong paper wrapping. or maybe the new heater is releasing a bit of that ‘new device taste’ (even tho its washed and boiled). wont rate, wonder if the next one tastes like this one again. hope not…

I’m leaning toward the peanutbutter affecting your taste buds. I’m making a bit of an “icky” face thinking about the combo of peanut butter and jasmine. Hopefully next time you have this it’s a much better experience!

malomorgen

so far it tasted always same. i actually think it was the new water heather and the fact that i let the water sit in for like an hour. takes some time for the plastic thing to loose that scent. but it’ll be fine as long as i pour fresh water in b4 boiling it…

ok i just did an experiment. i steeped the green tea for the second time. in it i added just like half a teaspoon of the white xmas mix – the delicate tasting ones with strong smell. all that in about 3-4dl of water. i also forgot about it so it has steeped for like 10 minutes if not more. however im about to try it.

smells nice. color is pretty much like the green tea itself. putting little bit of sugar in it because thats how i like the green jasmine tea. should taste mostly like that one even tho it smells like cinnamon and cloves. just tasted it. well definitely like it slightly more than the white tea. and the white tea made the peppery taste of the second steep of the green one weaker. not a bad combo really. i dont know its not so bad but it cant beat the first steep of the green jasmine. i just love that one…
i actually think now that i dont particularly like the taste of cloves in tea. its bit weird.

not giving a rating to this one. after all its just an experiment…

i discovered yesterday that i can make at least 2 infusions with the teabag :) for some reason second infusion seems always way more peppery. its still quite tasty tho, just less of those aromas and more of that ginger thing…

I’ve found that with other teabags too, it seems like only certain ingredients retain enough flavor for a second cup.

malomorgen

yeah in this case less jasmine more ginger. wonder if that changes with loose leaf teas. mrobably not of those with mixed ingreedients…

OK, so this is my second log and my third try of drinking this tea. Its the first time i steeped it for 2-3 minutes as it says on the box. Well first time i didn’t forget about the tea bag ;)
Smell – at first even the teabag itself smelled bit nasty to me. Now the smell suits me way better. I guess I’m associating it with the taste. It ain’t about the smell tho.
Color – its nice – like deep yellow (yellow with a pinch of orange) and clear.
Taste – mmm way milder than the first 2 tries. Makes sense… Its way better too. I mean i liked it before too, more with every try but this shorter steep makes me feel the aromas way better. I put just a bit of sugar in it so its soothingly sweet at first. Somehow calming. Then the herb aroma fills my mouth and nose. Beautifull. Then i get the pinch of peppery feeling somewhere in the back of my mouth, mostly on the mouth wall and slightly on my tongue. Im guessing thats from ginger. The aromas stick with me for a while.
Actually when i think of it I’m really loving this tea – its very relaxing with a pinch of something more to it. And very herbal – very tea like ;) Good rating again. I’ll come back to it when i know more about other teas and try different brands. So far it makes me wanna continue drinking tea.

drank Green Tea Energy by Yogi Tea

I love eleuthero! I’m amazed that the same plant that makes Celestial Seasonings’ “Tension Tamer” so good is part of an “energy” green tea blend. The combination of ginger and eleuthero imparts a nice, subtle sweetness to this tea.

I love this tea. Usually keep 3 bags in my purse to get me through a long day at work. Spicy, sweet, and with just the right amount of apple, I find this to be a staple in my cabinet. Alas, my local grocer stopped carrying it. Mixed it with meadowfoam honey to enhance the sweet apple.
