Harvest & Year: Spring 2020

Ahh, this tea is so beautiful! And it smells amazing. Lovely golden dust floating all around and over everything. I left this to steep for too long, of course, but it’s still tasty even if a little bitter/astringent.

Side note – I finished up a quick inventory of the tea cabinet last night and I’m missing four teas! I keep everything separated into specific bins/drawers based on tea type so I’m not sure how they’ve managed to disappear. It’s not a big deal really, but I’m perplexed. I feel like I need to keep looking and looking until they are found, but I don’t know where else to look! I suppose if that’s the only thing going wrong for me today, then I shall count myself lucky. :)

I have that problem when a tea goes missing. Usually I find the culprit “miscataloged” (a white tea stuck in the green tea drawer, etc.) There was a bit of shuffling when I moved houses.

Weren’t those teas sent to someone else?

Shae

I thought perhaps I’d thrown them in the wrong bin too, so I checked all of them twice. I’ll probably check them all again today because I JUST CANT LET IT GO.

I checked my swap spreadsheet too, Martin, but I never sent them out. :/ I’ll probably find them in two years stuffed in a sock drawer or someother random spot…

Very average weak tea. Bricks need to be bigger as it loses strength immediately. Dusty cheap tasting puerh tea, with nothing unique. Useful if you might only want one or two cups and something cheap and basic will do. Certainly not unpleasant in any way. Just nothing to write home about. Has it’s use with it being mini bricks and cheap.

Lovely oolong. I only bought a small amount and regret not buying more. Tasty and goes down easily. Sorry I can’t be more specific at this time, will try to revise this whilst drinking it.

Solid puerh tea for the expected old taste from a 1999. Quite woody. Lacks character or interest, but keeps providing solid steeps. Very drinkable all day when you want a solid aged puerh. I would like a good amount to make this a regular.

Awful. I have had one or maybe two decent cups from it. I have tried 2 or 3 times. Think it was the 1st real steep at 80 degrees, very quick. But repeating at same temperature was nasty and hotter was worse. What they say on the website is an understatement " Some bitterness and astringency " – it is pure bitterness and astringency. As they delete negative reviews it’s best to always check here.

I really like it. It is sweet and there is a peaty kind of fullness to the afternaste. No bitterness, nice coating astringency that isn’t drying.

Roasty and nutty with a hint of chocolate. I brewed this one western style and its getting nuttier as it cools. It reminds me of an almond/peanutty version of Big Red Robe. The second, western brew is a bit weaker, but still pleasantly nutty.

Great energy from this today. Meadowy, medicinal, notes of green apple and citrus. Really pleasant tart aftertaste, similar to some oolongs I’ve had.
