20 Tasting Notes

Ntingwe Kwazulu from Taylors of Harrogate
60

Not a light, but pleasant tea from South Africa. It has an assamic flavour, and a light sweetness. One can notice maybe spices, cocoa flavour. Nice for after lunch.

Traditional Afternoon from Twinings
61

Assamic tea, similar in flavour to Twinings’ Everyday. However, this is a bit lighter, so a good blend to drink in the morning or afternoon.

Everyday Tea (old blend) from Twinings
54

Pretty good assamic tea, nice to have early morning or right after lunch. The flavour is quite strong, so don’t oversteep it.

Giju Jasmine from Giju
55

Quite good. First I thought it was a black tea, looking at the tea leaves. After that, and even having added almost boiling water, the flavour of this tea is very gentle and enjoyable. If you like jasmine flavoured teas, you’ll probably enjoy this Indonesian tea.

Organic Earl Grey from Whittard of Chelsea
46

Although I do not particularly like this tea, is still a nice tea for a late afternoon sip. The flavor is not as strong as other Earl Greys, but the bergamot is noticeable.

Chá Verde - Hysson - Green Tea from Gorreana
57

This is the first time I taste this tea. A very herbal flavor, with a beautiful scent. I would recommend it for an afternoon snack.

Very “Assamic” taste, this amber tea is strong in both color and flavor. However, it is a good tea for breakfast (you can mix it with milk) or after a heavy lunch.

Chá Verde Japanese Lemon from Casa de Juste
55

Sweet lime taste, with the green gooseberry bitterness, this tea has a delicate and flowery flavor.

Pu-Ehr arbata from Skonis ir kvapas
54

Although it might be “smelly”, this is a lighter tea with a delicate taste. I tried the second infusion in the middle of the afternoon.

Yet another great Japanese green tea. The first, second and third infusions each bring out different aromas to the tea. Note that the tea leaves should have plenty of space to infuse and as they are very gentle, the water should be cooler too.

Marimo Sencha from Chá Camélia
76

A tea that is delicate in flavor and allows for a whole day drinking, with my favorite infusion being the second. Its subtlety in brewing allows different tastes, according to the infusion time and water temperature.

Madras from Loyd Tea
60

Very sweet flavour, resembling the chinese teas from Yunnan. Gentle, yet strong, good for afternoon or morning snack.

Orange Pekoe from Gorreana
65

Very mild flavour, sweet and soft, and good to drink at any time of the day.

Assam from Twinings
63

Very strong and earthy flavour tea, from the north of India. I prefer to drink it in the morning or after lunch, due to its higher amount of caffeine.

Ceylon from Twinings
77

Delicious. One of Twinings’ best teas.

Moínha from Gorreana
75

One of my favorite teas from Gorreana, I usually use it to make my own azorean blend. Strong, but not bitter flavour.

Everyday Tea (old blend) from Twinings
54

Very strong malty tea. I let it infuse just for 2 minutes, since more than that usually gets it bitter. Very good for mixing with milk or with a few drops of lemon juice.

Yellow Label from Lipton
80

One of my favorite “get it everywhere” teas. It is always a must have at home, as its gentle flavour allows it to be enjoyed by many people.

Earl Grey Leaf Tea from Tesco Finest
69

One fine Earl Grey Tea, a nice blend with a subtle bergamot flavour.
