4 Tasting Notes

Russian Earl Grey from Granville Island Tea Co
66

The Russian Earl Grey that I’m noting here is not specifically the Granville Island offering, but the one I’m drinking isn’t here on this site yet. One day, ohhh one day!

This tea is really really refreshing. The lemon & lime fills your nasal passage like vaporub so I could imagine it being a perfect morning tea when you’ve got the common cold.

Also, the citrus qualities in the tea act as a pallet cleanser like a lemon sorbet between dinner courses, so I find it to be most enjoyable in the evening after dinner, so you don’t go to sleep with that steak flavor still in your teeth.

Postives being said, it would be better to have other teas to choose from in the day because that lemon lime lemon lemon lemon lime lime lime lemon tea can get pretty easy to grow tired of.

totes citrus! Whats up with Russian tea and citrus flavor? The lemon and lime undertones create a pleasant aftertaste for when the tea is steeped a little longer/darker. The next time I pour a cup, I think I try it with a glob a jam like of Russian style.

Darjeeling - Margaret's Hope 1st Flush (2009) from The Tea Smith

at first, I picked up a springy or lively black tea, not weighted down by its dark fermented flavors. The first cup was a wonderful refreshment.

As the tea began to continue steeping to a darker (but not OVERsteeped liquid) tea, the tea became an overload of tannins.

The tea was pleasant and refreshing, but I will keep it semi under-steeped for next time—- and there WILL be a next time because it was quite enjoyable!

This tea lasted my 16oz. cup 4 seperate steeps— WOW!

The leaves gave off an oaky aroma without being dolled up with scents or blended flavors. So it smelled and tasted “real” and not falsely “decorated”

Bio

I’m a 26yr old boy that lives and loves in New Westminster, Canada.
I’ve just been hired to distribute tea for a new and noble tearoom in New Westminster. I’m a “new kid on the block” in the tea business and signed on to this website to learn more and more and more about the beverage.

I may critique tearooms like an ass.
I may speak ignorantly of the tastes of certain teas.

Regardless, I’m here to learn from everybody else in this online community about a tradition, beverage and culture that has been in my life since childhood.

My dad’s from the UK so my family all has Orange Pekoe flowing though our veins!
