20 Tasting Notes

Bad Fanfiction from Custom-Adagio Teas
79

I really enjoy this tea! A solid black tea with nice citrus notes. Great with honey! I like it in the afternoons, but I had it as my morning tea today. I feel energized and ready to take on the day! I wouldn’t add milk, personally, because of the citrus. Tastes great iced as well. I made a pitcher of this the other week. I’m planning on making another pitcher this weekend and throwing in some orange slices!

Chocolate Puerh from Numi Organic Tea
78

I just ran out of this tea, and I’m going to have to go pick up more. It’s perfect for the gloomy mornings I’ve been having. It’s sweet and amazing with a little bit of milk and sugar. Perks me up so I can make it to lunch.

I’m not usually a fan of sweet teas, as you can probably tell from some of my other reviews, but I really like this one. It’s like hot chocolate and puerh tea had a delicious chocolatey tea baby.

Tension Tamer Extra Wellness Tea from Celestial Seasonings
49

I wanted to try this tea to help with stress (and because I was really curious about catnip in tea). It’s an okay herbal. I prefer it with honey. It’s relaxing, but (sadly) it doesn’t help me sleep.

Sleepytime from Celestial Seasonings

I drank this tea a lot as a kid. Brings back some really good memories.

Black Lemonade Tea from Supple Skin Boutique
38

This is the first tea from Supple Skin Boutique that I’ve tried. I was drawn in by the name (I love a nice lemony tea), and I figured that it’s liver-detoxing properties couldn’t hurt after college.

I’m a bit disappointed with how little lemon I taste. It’s a very solid black tea, and I do like that, but I’m barely picking up on any of the lemon. For a lemonade tea, I find it lacking. I will keep trying it though, and maybe I’ll warm up to it more.

Blueberry Green from Harney & Sons
69

I really enjoyed this tea. It’s a very light tea; it smells a good deal more tart than it actually is. I love this tea with a little bit of honey. It’s a great green if you like fruit tea with a bit of a caffeine kick and not as sweet as a lot of fruit teas tend to be. Be careful when steeping it though! The flavors get a bit off if you over-steep it, and I definitely don’t think it tastes as good as it normally does then.

As I mentioned before, the smell can be a bit intense. I want to say it’s almost like sweet tarts. But the taste is definitely milder. A great afternoon tea.

Rooibos Earl Grey from Adagio Teas
27

I did not enjoy this tea. I don’t like the way the earl grey flavor tasted with the rooibos. It was cloyingly sweet which did not go well with the floral tones. Maybe rooibos isn’t my thing.

Pomegranate Green from Adagio Teas
68

I really enjoyed this tea! It’s my favorite flavored green from Adagio so far. I’m huge fan of pomegranate, and the taste was nicely subtle. It’s not a very sweet tea, so I do recommend adding some honey if you like your tea sweeter. It was very light. I’m definitely in the mood for spring now!

Rooibos Vanilla from Adagio Teas
57

This is another pretty sweet tea. I haven’t tried many rooibos teas, and I just got the rooibos sampler from Adagio. I’d had this particular one recommended to me by a friend, so I started out with it. It does have a very pleasant vanilla taste, and it smells delicious. I wish I hadn’t added honey to it, but I wanted to see how it tasted with it. If you add a sweetener, I wouldn’t recommend adding much. It’s a very comforting tea.

Moroccan Mint from Stash Tea Company
55

This tea is a nice basic mint green tea. The mint isn’t overwhelming, but it definitely holds its own in flavor with the green. This is one of my go-tos for when I’m sick or just have the sniffles. It isn’t an exceptional tea, but it’s a nice one to have in your cabinet.

Steve Rogers from Custom-Adagio Teas
69

I like this tea a lot better without any additives and steeped a bit longer. It’s not overwhelmingly sweet like the first time I tried it. I wish I could get more of the apple taste without having to add any sweeteners.

Pomegranate Delight from Twinings
100

I got two free samples of this from Twinings, and I am very pleased with it. You can really taste the pomegranate, but I don’t think it overwhelms the tea. It’s a wonderful blend, and I am adding this to my shopping list. It also tastes good cold with lots of sugar (if that’s your thing). I prefer it hot without any additives, but I did try it both ways.

Candy Cane from Adagio Teas
35
Candy Apple Tea from Custom-Adagio Teas
54

I like this better than the candy cane tea (not very minty). It’s a naturally sweet tea like the name suggests. The aftertaste is more of the candy apple taste, but it could be more apple-y.

Caress of Cthulu from Custom-Adagio Teas
66

This tea has the perfect balance of green tea and cherry. The flavor is very subtle, light, and only slightly sweet. It tastes really good with honey. The color is very light (because of the white monkey green tea, from what I’ve gathered). I actually steep it a little longer than most green teas. More like 3.30-4 minutes. Perfect tea for the slumbering elder god, Cthulu. After all, it’s only a caress, and then he’s in your head before you know it.

Steve Rogers from Custom-Adagio Teas
69

I’m a Steve Rogers, a.k.a. Captain America, fan. The tea itself is a blend of Spiced Apple Chai tea, Almond tea (a flavored Ceylon), and Assam Melody tea. They’re all black teas, so you won’t want to steep this for more than three minutes the first time for the best flavor.

I was pretty excited to try this tea. Opening the bag for the first time was a disappointment though. The smell of the tea is awful. It’s sickeningly sweet. I was hesitant to add any sweeteners to the tea after that. Without anything added, it is a sweet tea. It tastes a bit like apple pie. I added a little honey, and that didn’t make it too sweet, but I wouldn’t want to drink a lot of it with something sugary added to it. That would be too sweet. Adding honey made it taste even more like apple pie, which is good, but not something I want to drink often.

When I had it today, I also added honey because I was adding milk, and I wanted to see how that would taste. It is good; it tastes a lot like apple pie with vanilla ice cream. While I enjoyed it, I would not want to drink a lot of it.

I’m giving this tea 3.5, maybe 4, out of 5 stars. The smell of the dry tea leaves put me off a bit, and it’s just too sweet for my tastes normally. It’s great if you’re into really sweet teas. I don’t think it would work well as an iced tea partially because of the chai. I do think it would be a good tea to bake with though.

TARDIS (Blend) from Custom-Adagio Teas
100

Ever since I found out about Adagio and its most popular custom tea blends by Cara McGee, I’ve wanted to try the Tardis blend. The Tardis blend is one of the many fandom tea blends the site offers; this one being for one of my favorite television shows, the BBC’s Doctor Who.

The Tardis tea blend is a mixture of Earl Grey Bravo tea (Adagio’s signature Earl Grey), blackberry tea (which is a Ceylon black tea infused with blackberries), and vanilla (another flavored Ceylon black tea). The tea is naturally sweet, so I recommend tasting it before adding any sweeteners. Since it’s a black tea, you should steep it for 2-3 minutes.

I think it would make a nice iced tea as well, but I love how comforting it is while hot. It’s sweet, but the sweetness doesn’t overwhelm the taste of the tea. You could even add sugar without making it too sweet. I like how the vanilla is more of an aftertaste. It takes you a moment to catch the blackberry notes, but I like that it doesn’t overshadow the tea.

This would make a very nice dessert tea. Some people on the website recommend it with milk, so I’m going to have to try that at some point. All in all, I give this tea five out of five stars. I’ve tried some blends on Adagio (some where my own, but not all) that haven’t really turned out well. I think this might become one of my new favorite teas!

Another thing I love about this tea? You get 4oz instead of the standard 3oz of custom blends… Because it’s bigger on the inside!

Black Dragon Pearls from Adagio Teas
72

This tea is an amazing black tea. It’s incredibly smooth- a perfect classic black tea. Because it’s in the pearls, you can steep it a little longer than you normally should with loose leaf tea. I steeped it for about three minutes, maybe a little longer, but it didn’t taste bitter at all. I did, however, wait a couple of minutes after the water came off the boil, so keep that in mind if you try it yourself.

I typically like my tea strong, and the package recommends that you use two or three pearls for a cup. I only used two, but I would use three for the stronger taste. Two is about right for an average strength black tea.
A lot of black teas I drink have a bit of a smokey or citrus aftertaste, but this one doesn’t at all. It’s honestly the most tea-y tea I’ve ever had, as odd as that sounds.

I highly recommend the black dragon pearl tea. It tastes great hot and cold. I would say it’s a great morning tea since it’s pretty highly caffeinated. It’s a bit naturally sweet. I still added sugar though because I like my tea sweet.
