This time at the airport in Detroit a coffee shop sold me a cup of hot water that I then poured into my travel mug. They actually sold me a cup of hot water, not tea, for 50 cents (the tea was almost $3!). Well it worked out. And this tea is fantastic, of course. Possibly there was too much water for the one sachet in my mug so it was a touch weak, but it was still delicious.

Discovered today that Asha Tea House is on my way from my hotel to the museum, so I will pass it every morning… unfortunately it doesn’t open until noon! None of the tea houses open early here, so I am forced to be without good tea in the morning (hotel room coffee maker hot water is not something I would subject myself to).

Nice job getting away with paying $3. I could see some jerks still expecting you to pay the same for just water.

You may have been paying for the cup. At my school it was 10c to get hot water in a cup but free if you brought a mug. The lady always gave me the cups free when her boss wasn’t around though :)

Yeah they said they couldn’t bring any outside things back behind the counter, so he couldn’t fill my travel mug, but he could sell me a cup of hot water. Whatever, I got my tea!

Bio

I am tea obsessed, with the stash to match. I tend to really enjoy green oolongs, Chinese blacks, and flavored teas with high quality bases, especially florals, bergamot-based teas, and chocolate teas.

In my free time I am a birder, baker, and music/movie/tv addict.

Here are my rating categories, FYI:
100-90: I’m in LOVE with these teas.
89-85: I really really like these teas and will keep most of them in the permanent collection, but they’re not quite as spectacular as the top category
84-80: Tasty teas that I enjoy, but definitely won’t rebuy when I run out.
79-70: Teas that I would probably drink again, but wouldn’t seek out. They don’t quite do it for me in one aspect or another; often just not quite my style
69-50: Teas that I don’t really enjoy all that much and wouldn’t drink another cup of.
49 and below: Mega yuck. This tea is just disgusting to me.
