This tea always smells so good but I find myself a bit disappointed. It’s the base tea, which has no body or substance to it, so it leaves the rest hanging out to dry. Otherwise, the flavoring is quite good. Pumpkin-y with just the right balance of spices.
Today I thought I might coax some more heft from it by adding more leaf, but it just gained a bitter edge instead. Oh well. Still have never found my perfect pumpkin tea.

So funny, I nearly had this one this morning, then decided against it. And just last night I was thinking about many of my flavoured blacks, how their bases are so meh, and that alone can kill the desire to drink them.
Try the Pumpkin Juice Adagio fandom blend (Harry Potter). I know it doesn’t sound too promising, being a fandom blend and all, but I tried it today and I am for the first time happy with a pumpkin tea.
Yeah the base of a flavored tea has become extremely important to me, which has the effect of completely eliminating some companies from my repertoire. Unfortunately, that list includes Adagio; I really can’t stand their base teas! :P
I think Butiki’s pumpkin is The Pumpkin Tea – and I didn’t even feel I needed a pumpkin tea in my life before trying that.
Oh :/ I know what you mean about the base, though – I usually find Adagio’s black base goes bitter very quickly. I always oversteep, though, and did a short steep today which I think was the trick.
Anna – I’ve been looking for a good pumpkin tea for a while now, I will try to get my hands on some of Butiki’s!
I have very similar feelings about this one. It could be so much nicer with a different base.
