Starbucks Vanilla Rooibos Tea Latte, no longer available need substitute

Hey everyone!

Im fairly new here and newish to tea. Been really into tea for the past year. Mainly davids at the moment and trying to slowly branch out. As many know Starbucks was bought by Teavana and now Tazo tea is gone.

Today I went into Starbucks to get a tea latte, normally I just brew my own tea at home, but every now and then I do enjoy a Starbucks tea latte. I haven’t had one in forever and I LOVED the vanilla rooibos and am quite sad that:
a. No longer available at Starbucks
b. Haven’t been able to find any Tazo tea in town to purchase myself
c. I was given no suggestion for an alternative at Starbucks today and ended up with my fall back of a white chocolate mocha and sadly I really was in the mood for tea.

I wanted my tea latte soooo bad! So I figured hey why not ask all the lovely people of Steepster a suggestion for a good vanilla tea!

So if anyone also loved the vanilla rooibos, or knows of a good alternative please please share!

I will make a note that I tried DT pure vanilla as a straight tea just recently and wasn’t sold on it. Still need to try it as a latte, but would love some vanilla tea suggestions!

Thanks :)

I know it’s not always ideal, but you can order the Tazo online. I order a fair bit of tea from iHerb.com (I’m in Vancouver) and they do carry the Vanilla Rooibos Parfait. Otherwise, maybe teacentre.ca or Janet’s Special Teas has something that will work for you?

Thank you! Ive never heard of those sites and/or places so Ill definitely check them out :)

I don’t know where you are, but those are my favourite tea shops on the Island. :)

There’s also Winston’s and Tea Desire in Nanaimo. teacentre.ca is in Courtenay, so if you ever go up island, check them out! They have amazing pottery and travel mugs and things too.

Yea I frequent tea desire and winston’s :) Going to need to go back and see if they’ve got any suggestions for my dilemma. As for tea centre that sounds amazing! I enjoy my tea accessories as much as the tea :P

I actually really loved the Oprah Chai latte that I get from there. It does have black tea in it though, but there is also rooibos. I didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I did.

I’m not a huge chai fan, however maybe I’ll have to give it a shot as Ive noticed this tea mentioned in several places as a good one. I need a new Starbucks go to tea haha.

I recently tried a Vanilla Rooibos that I thought was pretty good. If you search for “bourbon street vanilla” on Steepster you’ll find lots of tea shops selling it. :) I’m pretty sure it’s made by Metropolitan Tea Co.

OMGsrsly said

Oh! Georgie’s Tea Emporium in the Victoria area carries labelled Metropolitan teas.

Thank you Lindsay and OMGsrsly. Definitely check that out!

Also if you want to try a black vanilla tea, Tippy’s has theirs on sale right now:

I’ve always gotten my Tazo at Safeway and Target if you have those stores in your area, but then again, I’m in the US so your Target might carry completely different brands.
I know that Adagio also has a Vanilla Rooibos (http://www.adagio.com/teabags/vanilla_rooibos.html) or (http://www.adagio.com/rooibos/rooibos_vanilla.html), maybe try that if you don’t have luck finding the Tazo.

Oh i have both those stores! Ill have to run there and search. I always forget about Target. Thank you for the links! Might be purchasing one of those :)

I don’t really recommend the Adagio vanilla rooibos. I like some of Adagio’s rooibos blends, but the vanilla just tastes like rooibos, which is a bummer. I don’t know what the Tazo tastes like, but I figured I’d throw that out there.

Oh thank you Kat for the tip. Yea I’m looking for something super vanilla :) I picked up about 3 vanilla teas yesterday if one of those isn’t a winner I’ll have to take my search online

New Mexico Tea Company has a nice vanilla rooibos tea.

Too bad about the other tea, not was my favourite non- coffee item at Starbucks.

Hey – I don’t know if you found this tea yet or a better substitute but I just found it on walmarts website (free shipping!) and I remebered you were looking for it – so that’s an option if you love it and haven’t found it !

Thanks Emily! I actually managed to snag 3 tins :P
