Purion Teapots from Lin's Ceramics

Anyone using a teapot made of purion from Lin’s Ceramics? Here’s what the website says about the material:

“Purion is a mixture of clay and minerals which has a dynamic effect on the quality of the infusion. To the touch, it has an easily pleasant rough and rustic character. Over time, purion will evolve, enriched by the teas it has enhanced.”

I’m wondering if anyone has compared these teapots to yixing and noticed a difference. I would assume you’d season them the same way.

I think AllanK or someone else on here has a few of these. I’ve heard good things. For me the jury is still out on puerh only because the reports I’ve heard tend to be from people who collect a lot tea ware and rotate what they use. I haven’t found a report yet from anyone who has heavily used a Purion pot over several years.

Lin’s had a sale about 6 months ago and a few people took advantage from what I remember.

Thanks Cwyn! Maybe I will need to season one and do some comparison testing. I already bought it with shou in mind, so…. :)

I think you need a pumidor first……LOL!

I’m working on that, actually. But I need two. So I gotta work out the placement issues.

Lol mr mopar. As I recall the Lin’s pots were a light color, but I’ve seen all kinds of colors for Purion. So yeah Sarsy it is up to you to get us the verdict on this clay. I may be deluding myself when testing my clays but I let leaves sit for 2-3 days because those teas take forever to steep out, each day I get a more minerally taste. Honestly some of those stinky sock teas start tasting better, as if the humid flavor gets mixed a bit with the mineral flavor.

I will let you continue your stinky sock tea tests, Cwyn, but I will be happy to compare shou pus done in my yixings to the purion, when it arrives. :)
