I took some-
Hibiscus
Honeysuckle Flower
Lime Peel
Marshmallow Leaf
Orange Peel
Peppermint
Rose Buds

I added-
organic lavender flowers

I’ve got the box all packaged up again and will be mailing it to rosebudmelissa Friday or Saturday. I have two blends already in the works using ingredients from the box (plus non box ingredients). One is marshmallow leaf with orange peel and vanilla beans, the other is marshmallow leaf with peppermint leaf and vanilla beans. I’m letting the vanilla mellow for a week or two before I try them!

Sorry, I had a really crummy week last week and wasn’t able to get to the post office or on Steepster. I should get the box in the mail today or tomorrow. I wonder how I’ve gone this long without following you. I thought I was. Huh.

Umm I’d say wait until the 13th, so you can be sure you have enough time with it. Melissa can keep it a bit longer then too since this week was hard for her. The list is pretty short so it will still get around pretty fast.

Ok, so I’ve been googling the “rules” of passover to understand this and I think it is really interesting. I’m not clear on the tea exclusion though, because Google can only take me so far. Is there a resource you can point me to, or a simple explanation of the no tea part? Is it considered not kosher? Or is it because of flavourings? I found something that says unflavoured tea is okay, so that is why I thought flavourings might be out. Very interesting!

Nevermind, I’m an idiot. Forgot what thread this is. I’m now assuming it is BECAUSE it isn’t plain tea that’s the problem. I would be very bad at this religion.

Haha, yes, the problem is the flavoring. Also the risk of contamination from other flavorings even if some of the ones in the box are kosher for Passover. Straight teas are fine so long as they’re stored properly.

This is really just herbs, no actual tea.

Yes, but I have no way of knowing whether they were processed or stored with non-KFP foods at some point between being picked and arriving at my doorstep. Ashkenazi Passover rules are pretty extreme. It makes for a rough holiday but I feel worse not observing. Also, the barley is straight up just not kosher for Passover.
