best sweetener for darjeeling?

im a massive darjeeling lover.

currently i sweeten with white sugar, as i used to not like tainting the flavour in any way, but recently ive been thinking of trying different honeys or other things to enhance the muscatel aromas present or compliment the flavour, without overppowering them.

what do you darjeeling lovers use?

ive only been drinking it a few years, my favourite so far is castleton muscatel 2nd flush, but ive got some other gardens on the way

I don’t often sweeten, but if I do I use local honey. I primarily sweeten because I don’t like the taste as is. Plus I looooove honey. I actually really dislike it when tea tastes the same but sweeter. It freaks my taste buds out! :)

I only use pure sugar to bring out the taste of the best Spring Flush Darjeelings. I only use ¼ teaspoons per 360ml (12.5 fluid ounces). Most or all of the cane sugars add an ever so slight taste to the teas. I came across the Mitsui Spoon Brand of sugars which is pure in that it only sweetens and does not denature the taste of the tea in any way. Mitsui offers different grades of sugars and I currently use the Spoon Brand White Crystal Sugar. The crystals are uniform, perfectly shaped, and extremely pure.

Since I buy most of my teas from Mariage Frere, I used to use their pure sugar but have sinced switched to the Mitsui Spoon Brand. BTW, it does not freak my taste buds out.

Happy Steeping

As pointed out by UNIQUITY , i too like using Honey or even dry Jagger.
The best part of using natural Honey or jaggery is that it does not sweeten the cup too much and overpowers the flavor of the tea.
even i love Castleton but Margaret’s Hope is my favorite also Goomtee Tea Estate.
For purchasing these teas udyantea.com usually offers great deals better than the others iv seen.
