Looking for a quality houjicha from a good vendor.

Looking for a quality houjicha. Here are my priorities in order:
Direct Sourced
Reputable vendor
Inexpensive (factoring in shipping to US)

Not all of these are necessary, feel free to make any recommendations.

Have you tried Yunomi? The have a variety of houjicha.

Wow, no kidding! Lots of variety. I have ordered some samples.

Their sugabou hoji is one of the best I have ever had. I usually wait until they have a sale/free shipping offer. Their shipping can get too crazy for me.

Agree about Yunomi. I also have some from Den’s, but haven’t tried it yet.

Thank you for recommending a specific houjicha. Any tips on how to stay up to date with sales from Yunomi?

Not sure, I just try their review samples.

Review samples?

Look at the press sample section under the sample page.

You should also be able to sign up for a newsletter at their website.

I have an order in with Yunomi as well. It shipped EMS today. They gave me 10% off their Hojicha even though the sale was technically over but I hadn’t noticed that when I emailed them.

Yunomi EMS shipping is fast. My package already showed up in Jamaica, Queens.

Den’s Houji-Kukicha and Karigane Houjicha are my favorites. Though Harney’s hojicha is my go-to as it’s tasty and very inexpensive. I usually stock up during one of their many sales.

Is there a significant difference in quality between the two? How do you find out about the sales? Thanks :)

For the sales, go to Harney.com and sign up for the newsletter. Den’s has a monthly sale as well, so you may want to sign up for their newsletter. Between Den’s houji-kukicha and Harney’s (also a hoji-kukicha) there isn’t a huge difference. But I do prefer the Karigane over the other two. If you haven’t already, I’d recommend getting Den’s starter set http://www.denstea.com/bnew-to-dens-teab-c-377.html They don’t list it, but I got the Hoji-Kukicha in my sampler.

I bought a Hojicha from the EBay vendor Tablinshop in Japan. It was quite good. They carry several different Hojichas.

I also recently bought Hojicha from ShiZen Tea which was good too, but I liked the one from EBay better.

Has anyone tried hojicha from O-Cha? Every time I leave anything in my cart there for more than a couple hours, they send a pretty generous coupon to encourage me to go ahead and buy the item. So, I was thinking about trying their hojicha because it’s inexpensive and now I have a coupon that basically covers the cost of shipping. I don’t really see reviews here though.

I have been really happy with what I’ve gotten from O-cha. But, I have only had their various matcha or sincha products. I’ve been consistently ordering from them for about 2 years.

Thanks! I’m gonna try it.
