Pumpkin tea?

Thinking about getting some kind of pumpkin tea for Halloween/Thanksgiving. Any good recommendations? I am not a huge fan of pumpkin, so i do not want something that has too strong of a pumpkin favor.

I’d recommend Art of Tea’s Pumpkin Pie. It’s a rooibos blend.

Jaime,
Does this tea really taste like pumpkin pie? How do you like the flavors? I love rooibos and pumpkin.. and this sounds like a dream! I’d like to know what you think of it, though.

I really enjoy it. I bought an ounce from my local tea cafe, and have already went through it. It has caramel notes to me, but yes, it’s definitely pumpkin pie. It’d be worth a try since you like rooibos and pumpkin!

Um that’s really hard since most people that want recommendations for a flavored tea want a strong flavored tea… as soon as I saw the word recommendation I thought of Twinnings Pumpkin Spice Chai. It has a strong pumpkin flavor, but it’s also paired w/ chai so that may make it ok. Otherwise try Zoomdweebie’s Pumpkin Pie black. I was actually disappointed the pumpkin wasn’t stronger. They aslo have a pumpkin pecan pie blend. But my best advice would be if you’re not real keen on 1 particular flavor, skip the tea version- there are so many YUMMY teas out there!

Also if you’re looking for something a lil different you could do a search for “pumpkin” in the blends section of adagio.com. LOTS of options there:)

Stash has a Decaf Pumpkin Spice. It’s a seasonal tea, but I’ve seen it pop up at my local grocery store. It doesn’t have a very strong pumpkin flavor; the spices kind of balance that out.

I like this one too. The pumpkin is there, but not in your face. I think it depends on additions too – when I add milk and sugar, I taste the pumpkin more. Without milk and sugar, I mostly taste the spice.

The only pumpkin tea I had was tea oh’s pumpkin pie. It doesn’t really taste much like pumpkin when brewed but it smells nicely of pumpkin before brewing and is nice and cinnamony.

Dr. Tea’s Tea Garden has some great Halloween/fall teas including a pumpkin vanilla chai that looks good. Note: some of these are standard teas simply renamed.

I wouldn’t worry about a pumpkin tea being too “pumpkiny”. Most of the ones I have tried tend to smell strong, but you only get a hint of it when you actually drink it.

That being said, this is my current favorite: Pumpkin Chai from David’s Tea http://www.davidstea.com/davidstea-fall-collection/pumpkin-chai

If you haven’t actually had a pumpkin tea before, don’t be so quick to discount a strongly flavored one. The ONLY way I like pumpkin as a food is in chocolate brownies and that’s cuz you can’t taste it at all… but I LOVE Twinings Pumpkin Chai even though I can definitely tell it tastes strongly of pumpkin. I actually don’t like “pumpkin spice” flavored things that have no actual pumpkin flavor to them. Yeah I know, weird- I’m like that w/ sweet potato tea too:)

Does the cream really take over? I made a blend w/ only 10% cream once and was surprised how strong it was. Also just noticed they’re now charging the same price for an ounce less!

It doesn’t take over but it is present. I made this to be mellow, smooth, and creamy. It by no means yells at you but it is a perfect fall treat.

Oh and yes I noticed that too. A bummer, at least reduce the price but I guess not.

DavidsTea have a Pumkpin Chai out, basically a China black with some spices, little organge pumpkin candies and little bits of caramel. I find it too sweet and tasting more of caramel than anything else.

They put the orange pumpkin candies in the tea? Awesome!

I’ve not tried a bunch of pumpkin teas, but, I’ve tried a few. Here are my 2 favorites:

RachanaC’s Creamy Pumpkin Spice blend at Adagio (see link above)
Auntie’s Pumpkin Pie from Tea For All Reasons: http://www.etsy.com/listing/58611818/fall-new-arrival-aunties-pumpkin-pie (there have been a few from Tea For All Reasons that I’ve not been crazy about, but this one really surprised me)
