Is there a tea you love that most others on here hate?

The Persimmon Tree’s Lotus hits my taster just right. The combination of Vietnamese green tea and the scenting of lotus blossoms gives the cup kind of an anise flavor that seems to turn people off even before trying it.

Another personal favorite should be no surprise – Ahmad Earl Grey. It is an inexpensive loose leaf that I could drink every day. Heavy dose of bergamot and the bite of Ceylon. What more does one need?

Then there is my morning tea – Tradition green tea powder. Very inexpensive. I know it is not matcha, but dang I like it.

I think I had a green/lotus tea blend from Tealux and didn’t like it. I don’t remember what it tasted like though.

Tazo Passion. I love that stuff cold and unsweetened. I probably drink it more than water during the summer. Unsurprisingly the (heavily hibiscus) blend doesn’t get rave reviews here. But, god, it’s so refreshing.

I really like this too! Usually just cold and sweetened, but I’ve found hot and sweetened to be a nice evening drink as well, since it doesn’t have caffeine.

lapsang.. I use it to cook my salmon in… and for my garden… keeps the neighbourhood cats away.
Cannot possible imagine anyone drinking tea that smells like an overly active BBQ party!

I’ve never tried it because I normally don’t like smokey teas but it sounds good for salmon!

Just wanted to add that David’s Tea has Lemon Myrtle up on the website now when they didn’t before. It’s still discontinued. I went to one of their stores and they don’t have it there and told me it’s discontinued. When I told them it wasn’t on the website and now it is, they checked and said I had better order while it’s there then (which I did!). I ordered LOTS! I think the tea they put back on their website is the last of what’s left in their inventory. Grab it while you can.

Thanks for the heads-up! And thank you for suggestions on where else to get it. :) Now if I could only use my gift card online…

You can’t used your gift card online? I would think it would be an option when you check out.

Nope. They don’t take gift cards online. I received a $100 gift card for Christmas – ask me how happy I am about the fact I can’t use it (closest DT is 6 hours away in Chicago). ;)

That is crappy! Did you send them an email? Maybe they can work something out. Usually pretty good customer service at David’s Tea.

Edit: I checked their website and it does say when you buy a gift card it’s not redeemable online. How stupid is that?

Can you call a store and use it as a phone payment?

Oh I threw a fit via email and Facebook. They won’t take gift card by phone because they “order from website themselves for phone order”. I was basically told that in this instance I would “just have to settle for crappy service”.

My sister wouldn’t have noticed that text. I mean, who sells gift cards you can’t use online?!

I wonder if one of the nice Steepster people who shop there a lot would buy it from you.

Maybe you could mail the card to someone and they can buy stuff for you and send it to you? I’d volunteer but I don’t live anywhere near a store :(
Or like Marzipan said, someone might do that. You could always go to this DavidsTea group on FB if you aren’t in it already, they’re all like scarily obsessed with DavidsTea, you might find someone there who would be willing to buy it from you!

I live near a store and would do it but I’m in Canada. Don’t know if you’re in Canada.

Good suggestions. :) Unfortunately I am not in Canada but thank you for the offer!

I’m in Canada right now, but I’ll be moving to the US in June and near a Davids…so if you don’t mind shipping it across the border, I’d be happy to buy it from you :) PM me!

I’m super picky about camomile. I can only stand it in certain blends, otherwise I don’t even like to look at it.

Is it the sourness that you hate? Because The Persimmon Tree Tea does this amazing banana/coconut blend with that tea as the base.

I hate chamomile as well. I don’t think there are any blends I can handle it in though. I like many other floral teas and flavours but chamomile is nope!

I used to love chamomile. Several years ago, I had some straight chamomile in tea bags and would drink it frequently. I fell off the wagon at some point and have never gotten back on , because I discovered I don’t like it nearly as much as I used to. In fact, I’d go so far as to say I don’t like it at all anymore, unless it’s in a blend where I really can’t taste it. Strange how our taste buds can change that much over time.

Is it sour? I never thought about it as being sour. I’m not sure what it is that turns be off about camomile, but ick. I’ve only been able to stand it in Tazo’s Calm, but that’s got all sorts of other stuff in it and I lace it heavily with raw sugar.

Chamomile is okay. I don’t hate it or love it but it does have a sedative effect on me so it’s only good right before bed. Usually I don’t have a tea that late so I don’t stock chamomile.

Oh! Just thought of this one: Celestial Seasonings. I practically grew up on those. I have taken the free tour of their warehouse at least three times. Morning thunder and Fast Lane used to get me through the stupid early 4am shifts at the hotel I used to work at. Green tea with peach was one of my favorites. The wellness blends were pretty helpful to me for plenty of uses. Since they specialize in bagged herbal teas, I can see why not many are a fan.

My husband still likes some of the Celestial Seasoning teas mostly the Christmas ones. I have to admit , they weren’t bad when I didn’t have a lot of tea choices a few years ago. Bengal Spice used to be one I liked.

My husband also is a fan of Celestial Seasonings. We have a few of their teas in stock, and have also taken the tour of their factory. I find myself scratching my head at some of their blending choices, like putting chicory in a tea called “Sweet Harvest Pumpkin” or putting hibiscus in a blend and calling it a “Zinger.” They have lots of Zingers, and they all have hibiscus. Not that I don’t like hibiscus. In some blends, I think it’s appropriate. It’s just not necessary in some. Still, I do like some of their blends. Candy Cane Lane is pretty darn good, as is Country Peach Passion and whatever the blueberry one is called.
