Pu-Erh Identification--Help Requested

Hi, everyone,
I recently got some shou pu-erh from my awesome local tea shop and tried it for the first time (and I really enjoyed it!). I’d like to write a review here on Steepster, but I’m not sure who makes this tea—or any other info, other than that it’s a tuocha of shou pu-erh, and that it has been aged for five years (according to the tea shop owner). Does anyone have any information they could give? I’ve taken some pictures, but can take more if needed (I tried to scrape some of the tea off of the inside label, but was only somewhat successful).

I would suggest asking for a translation on www.teachat.com in the Puerh section. There are many more people there who read and write Chinese and might be willing to help.

Thanks for the tip—I posted it there, too (haven’t had any responses yet, but I’ll give it time).

Or possibly Reddit.

Dear Mark,
If you are willing to wait until the weekend I can definitely send your pictures to some of my suppliers and get them translated for you.
Just send me a PM if I should do so…

Yeah that’s a tough one. I would let Gabriel (nannuoshan) or Yang-chu do that one. It’s above my knowledge. Welcome to the puerh world :)

nannuoshan, that would be wonderful! (Sorry, I tried to PM you, but encountered some problems) I’ll let you know if I find out before then. Thanks so much!

The characters on the front seem to just be Top Grade Tuo (Ji Pin Tuo). On the back I can make out Menghai in the bottom row. If I had to guess it is probably just claiming to be of Menghai material. Maybe 2013 pressing of 2008 material? China has a lot of tonnage of 2008 material they are still trying to sell, it is an inexpensive option for those wanting to press their own label tea.
