New to Tea Shopping: Website suggestions / stores in SF?

Hi! I am new to this website and, I guess, tea exploration. There isn’t anywhere to buy loose leaf teas in my town except for Peet’s, which is pretty limited, and the closest tea shop outside of my immediate area has a pretty small selection as well (mostly just sells tea-themed decorations :/). So, I was wondering what websites are the best to order teas from? Also, if anyone is in the San Francisco area or has been to a tea shop there, I would be grateful for those suggestions as well. I don’t live in SF, but I am not too far, and I actually go there for work every other weekend or so.

Websites: Mandala, Whispering Pines, Joseph Wesley and Yunnan Sourcing, Crimson Lotus, White2 Tea and 05 Tea if you like puerh. I can’t be much help if you want flavored tea, but those are my favorite sites. Welcome to your new addiction.

welcome! :) In and around San Francisco you’ve got Lupicia and Red blossom off the top of my head if you want to go in and explore and smell :) China Town also has a number of tea shops to visit.

Hi! Deff give Lupicia and Red Blossom a go… they’re great!!! Also San Fran also has a couple of David’s Teas…. Samovar Tea Rooms is a delightful experience and has some great teas (I’m very partial to their Pineapple Coconut Oolong)! Imperial Tea Court is a traditional chinese tea house… and Leland Tea Company on Nob Hill is pretty special! Lots of amazing choices in SF!!

I think that purepuer is based out of SF. Not sure if they have a brick and mortar store though. Their website is www.purepuer.com

I have ordered a number of things from them, including a tea tray, gongfu set, tea, etc. They are very nice, great service, very personable. I like the company! I have only mail ordered, though.

Also Teavivre, Verdant, and Den’s Tea for good quality unflavored teas.

Verdant and Den’s Tea also offer low-cost intro packs and Teavivre has some good promotions going right now.

Hey Halleoolong!

I live in SF and love to drink tea also! You check out a place called Tea People in Union Square. It’s in a boba shop called Boba Guys.

My other favorites are Imperial Tea Court and Song Tea.

I’m surprised I didn’t see this… The San Francisco area has a few Lupcia stores which should have a large variety.

Check out Grant Street in Chinatown, there are several tea shops.

There’s a few in Chinatown. I think you can walk down Grant? and you’ll see signs for free tea tastings. If you’re coming down the side near Union Square just start at the Chinese arch near the marble store and keep going.
Lupicia and DavidsTea in the Westfield mall on Market st.
There’s one on 6th ave and clement? I think that one’s called Aroma. I’m told they have a Chinatown location too. The supermarket a few blocks down on Clement st – May Wah, has a whole aisle dedicated to tea. Supermarket tea is nicely priced for exploring alot of different teas, although not always the best quality.

If you’re in south bay, there’s also a Lupicia in the Westfield Valleyfair near Santana Row and one in the Japanese market along with a MatchaLove (ice cream!)
