Highly suggested for tea:

Knowledge of tea
Acquaintance with one’s own taste buds
Something to sit in while you drink the tea
A friend to share the tea with

Though I’m sure I could manage without it, I love my 3sands tea timer— it is part of the ritual.

Interesting! I brew almost all of mine at 3 minutes (blacks).

That is an interesting timer! I like it, but I really depend on the beeping at the end of the timer to snap me out of whatever task it is I have been consumed by.
I brew most of my blacks at 3 minutes by default too.

I never use a timer – if I forget it, so be it. I tend to only steep 2 – 3 minutes and I usually keep my attention span that long. And if I space out, most of my tea can handle it – if not I take it as a sign. But that’s cool! :)

my basic list.
good tea (several types)
gaiwan
cup or two (if i have a guest)
somewhere to sit and brew
water kettle
music (preferrably phish, perpetual groove, or some earthy techno)
everything else i use is because im a tea brewing addict….(ie tea tray, clay pots, tea pets, gemstones, fairness pitcher, puerh pic, puerh tray)
