Ok. found ya here. great idea to start this thread. Oo-long overdue.
Love Yancha. Start exploring Taiwanese oolong which i got from Taiwan Sourcing. Im on a dark side, so roasted oxidized oolong for me. learning to love greener ones. who knows maybe one day i will say i love green floral (absolutely hate white florals for now). i didnt like Sheng either ;D

What’s your prior experience with greener oolongs?

If you’re only just getting into TW Oolong, I would definitely not write greener oolongs off just yet. Taiwan has the good stuff!

I’m really a darker tea kind of guy, but I’ve got to admit there’s some seriously good greener stuff to be found in the world of Taiwanese oolong!

Dong Ding is pretty good, Jin Xuan is good too. but i never wake up saying i want to drink it lol.

Not every tea has to be like that, right? :)

Ooooh!!! Darling are you really exploring the green side?? And floral might be in your future, who knows? Look at you, shengirl! ;-)

Today I drank a nice Yancha from my favourite local tea dealer/friend.

I’m unsure about the particular type of Yancha, she told me when she sold me some months ago, but I didn’t write it down and forgot! It was one I hadn’t heard of before, but none of that is very important!

The important thing is that I love this tea, it has every strong rose and raisin notes. It’s only downside is that it steeps out relatively quickly. Not a particularly big problem, since I enjoy the steeps it gives!

I had the last, somewhat broken, bits of leaf from my bag today and it was a hit harsher and even more short lived than usual today, but still very enjoyable, and I know it’s not the tea that’s at fault here.

I still have about one serving left, and I’m thinking about saving that to take back to the store so I can find out what kind of Yancha this was, and either get more of the same one, or more of a similar kind! :)

I cant get enough of Yancha!!!

Hope you find your tea or something similar :-)

Today I drank a milk oolong from Royal Tea Bay. Had it in my lovely open weave easy gaiwan with matching cup. So pretty and the floral, creamy milky notes were great for an afternoon tea.

Mmmm you give me the urge to drink some of my mandala milk oolong!!

Tonight I spoil myself :)

Sadly… I wouldn’t recommend Dachi. For whatever reason, their oolong teas have a weak flavor to them. The aroma might be nice, but that will never make up for lack of taste :(
Would anyone else agree about Dachi’s oolong teas or is this just a personal preference of mine?

YAYYY OOLONG oolong oolong! I could not contain the excitement when I saw this thread. I love pretty much all the oolongs, green, roasted, milky, flavored, yum!

Sometimes it seems a chore to me to drink my non-oolong teas, but I’m working on it! The ones I’ve been having love affairs with include Teavivre’s Milk oolong (creamy milky taste, like white rabbit candy but not as sweet and infinitely better), TeaLyra’s Milk oolong (raisin bread notes), Tea at Sea’s Da Hong Pao (roasted), and Lupicia’s Muscat oolong and Lychee oolong.

I most of the time order sample packets-
the problem is not all shops have sample packets. If I like what I brewed I buy a larger size-no bags of unused/forgotten tea.
I would like to encourage shops to have more available.
For me-that would encourage me to try different types of tea.

Of all my tea drawers in my tea organization thingy (it is two plastic drawer totes stacked on top of each other) the Oolong is the biggest and the one I am constantly rotating because I drink it the most. Oolongs and I have a looooooong history hehe.

I also foresee myself lurking on this thread a lot, Thank you oh great Fairy of Tea ;)

Currently happily slurping away on an oolong from Nepal. It is like a crisper, more floral, darjeeling more so than a more ‘typical’ flowery oolong. I love its uniqueness.

has any one ordered their oolongs from floatingleaves.com?
I am thinking of purchasing their 2015 baozhong tea

I haven’t done so personally, but baozhong is their specialty, and I have only heard good things about theirs. :)

Yes, I enjoy Shiuwen’s teas! I got both 2015 baozhong’s and they are delicious and worth the buy, although I think the competition style is sold out now! Farmer’s choice is still a solid choice :D I haven’t tried the DaYuLing yet but I would say it’s a good one, on my wish list at the moment!

Man…I wish I didn’t like this so much.. Drinking Lala Shan High Mountain Jade from Taiwan Sourcing. It’s so, so good! Silky and very creamy, floral and juicy. This is the bomb!

And it’s making me feel really happy. I think this is my favorite of the TS I have tried so far. But I have yet to try their heirloom 1976 oolong…it’s still in the mail, can’t wait!!

I’m currently drinking the 1976 Heirloom Oolong from Taiwan Sourcing! The oldest aged oolong I’ve had and the most surprising oolong I’ve had! It almost tastes like a puerh-oolong hybrid! Its got notes of wood, leather, fruit, florals, lingering sweetness…. A subtle, tasty brew, full of excellent mouthfeel and good qi :)

Have you had the early spring Lishan? It was delicious! :)

Sounds awesome! Can’t wait to try!!

Here having some of my Wuyi from Tao of Tea…loving the malty cane taste …Reminds me of Oolong my favorite chinese place had

Maybe I got a bad batch, but I bought the same tea last year from Amazon and didn’t care for the flavor. Over-roasted and tasted like bagged black tea. How are you brewing yours?

Rishi used to have a great wuyi but lately that too has become very roasty. Good wuyis are roasted but also have a honey-like sweetness. Arbor Teas has a decent one but I’m still looking for something better…recommendations are welcome :-)
