I had a cool idea last night and was wondering if we had enough people interested in doing it to make it worthwhile… I was thinking about doing a 12 Days of Christmas gift. We would send out a different NEW blend every day Dec. 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 20, and 21. I was even thinking the first one could be a flavored green pear tea, then a turtle chocolate tea and maybe a French vanilla—kind of got stuck after that though…

But the whole package would probably be $99.99 and the recipient would receive a different tea every day for twelve days—more or less (given that we are at the mercy of the USPS). The individual teas would be posted on the website in VERY limited quantities, if you wanted to grab one or two out of the set, but I would really try not to make too much of any of them (otherwise I will be sitting on a lot of inventory very quickly).

What do you guys think?

I think I wish I could afford this… for myself! hehe;) ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL idea! How about an 8 days of Hanukkah set as well? 7 days of Kwanzaa set featuring teas and tisanes from Africa?

Haha! It’s your fault you’ve done such an amazing job of spoiling us! You know what they say… “give them an inch, and they’ll take a mile” =D

P.S. A friend of mine went on a mission trip to Africa and raved about the chai. If you made an African Chai I’d snap it up faster than you could blend it!=D

I’d love something like this, but maybe sampler-sized wrapped up in a cute gift box? A box that maybe had separate containers/compartments that you could open one day at a time?

Jaime, you’re on to something! Save yourself postage Frank (since you graciously offer free postage) and send all the tea at once. I think the excitement of “Dang I wanna open that!” would be worth it. I’d rather (figuratively since I can’t afford $100 for tea) pay more for cute wrapped packages than postage. I also agree w/ sample sizes. 1/2-1oz would be perfect.

Hmmm. I kind of like that idea too, Jaime. Makes it more affordable for everyone. Hmmm….

I get good ideas occasionally!

LiberTEAS said 2010-11-14 14:25:58 -0500

I don’t know about the sending out a package every day just because I know that my husband would really flip if I got a package every day. LOL (And yes, I’d buy it for myself).

But, I do like Jaime’s idea… and I absolutely love the idea of having the teas correspond to the song. Awesome.

I do think sending them all at once would be perfectly fine. Maybe you could still make the teas a surprise by placing each in a paper bag just labeled with the date they should be opened, or something like that? Of course some people will open them all at once. :) But then there’s still an option for a surprise every day, which I think is really sweet.

I think Jaime hit on a splended idea do .5 oz or 1 oz in a set of 12 flavors as a large gift box :)

and since you’ll save the time you can do a hanukkah set for me as well – jewish apple cake flavored, chocolate gelt flavored, Raspberry Rugelach, Chocolate Cranberry Pecan Rugelach, and potato pancakes with applesauce flavored?

Cofftea said 2010-11-14 18:13:57 -0500

Oh I’m likin the potato pancakes w/ apple sauce. I hope that can be bought separately.

Cofftea said 2010-11-14 15:00:58 -0500

Ok, I’ll see if I can help w/ a couple tea flavors.
5 A flavored golden curls
8 A cream flavored milk oolong or duce de leche
11 A flavored lapsang or otherwise smoky tea

Ya know what would be so cool? An advent calendar with a new tea to try everyday till Christmas. It would be so cute. Of course this wouldn’t be a present but it would be neat to have in general.

Ohmygosh I LOVE that idea! Advent totally escaped my memeory! Better think quick Frank, they’d need to be delivered by Nov. 27th since no one gets mail on the 28th.

I’m kind of late to this discussion, but I think that offering sampler packs of the tea is a great idea. I would LOVE to see a ManTeas sampler pack with some of those teas (would be a funny gift for my brothers) along with maybe a honeybush one, and one with the 52 teas bestsellers! Just some ideas! I’m still fairly new to buying from your company, but so far I’m really liking it a lot and am totally considering getting it as gifts this year for some people! Sampler packs or sets would be even more of an incentive to do so! :-)

The 12 Teas of Christmas sampler pack is coming along. I’m still assembling all of the pieces, but I think it is going to be 11 samples (1/2 ounce or so each) of some of our best teas, and one of a special Christmas blend. Each sample will be packed in a separate kraft/foil-lined flat pouch with a label on it telling the recipient when they can open it. When you open the pouches, they will have the tea and another label (identifying the tea) to cover the “Do not open until…” label with. All 12 pouches and a 20-pack of Tsacs will be packed in a nice red gift box. With shipping to the US and Canada included, I’m thinking I will offer them for $29.99. (It’s a lot of work for that and a lot of small costs that add up, but if enough of you guys get these for friends that maybe don’t know about us yet, I think it will be worth it in the end.) What do you guys think?

P.S. No, I’m not going to tell you which blends will be included or what the special Christmas blend will be—you’re just going to have to be surprised. =)

52teas said 2010-11-19 21:03:25 -0500

LOL. I want to get some pictures of everything before I post in on the website. But I have enough supplies for 100 of these, so although I might hope otherwise, I imagine we will have plenty to go around. I’ll be sure to post here as soon as I get it up on the website.

That’s a lot of tea and $ for me to be surprised- so I guess I’ll pass… :(

Small
52teas said 2010-11-19 21:48:54 -0500

Well, you know they are going to be some of our most popular blends, probably mostly from our Permanent collection. I just thought it would be more fun for everyone if I didn’t spoil the surprise. And I think it is actually a really good deal. You’re getting the equivalent of three 2oz. pouches which would normally cost $24.97, plus a package of t-sacs and all of the extra packaging. I think it’s a GREAT deal.

Jillian said 2010-11-19 23:45:16 -0500

Hmm, I can think of a couple of friends who would love one of these.

As for myself, I’ll wait to see what all is actually in it before I buy one. I’m not sure I want/need the three different kinds of mint tea you have in the Permanent Collection for instance. ;)

LiberTEAS said 2010-11-19 23:53:18 -0500

I am definitely going to get myself one of these. I love surprises!

I love surprises too and haven’t tried too many permanent collections so that would be loads of fun!

Small
52teas said 2010-11-20 11:31:43 -0500

@Jillian, all I can say without revealing too much is that the sampler will NOT contain samples of all three. And some of the teas we’re going to include are not currently in our permanent collection. (I plan to add a few teas to the permanent collection soon).

Looks great Frank, but somethng jumped out at me right away… you are aware that the 12 days of Christmas start, and not end, on Christmas Day aren’t you?

Small
52teas said 2010-11-20 12:18:09 -0500

Well, technically, yes, but that wouldn’t be any fun to wait until AFTER Christmas to open your presents. :)

LiberTEAS said 2010-11-20 12:51:05 -0500

I agree with Frank… I am in a 12 days of xmas art swap with some other artists and we do the same thing, we start opening before xmas, 1 gift each day. It would be torturous to wait longer!

Kristen said 2010-11-20 13:36:16 -0500

Thank you I placed an order … one for myself of course and one for a gift! I included in the special instructions where to send the second one. I hope that is ok. If you need more info just email/message me. Thanks again… oh I also got the Princess Blend for my Daughters Christmas stocking! :)

QueenOfTarts said 2010-11-20 18:53:10 -0500

I’m interested, but like others would like to know what teas would be included. Are we able to request a list of the teas? This way, people who want to be surprised will need to do nothing and those who want to know can just contact you?

I’m really excited about this!

Small
52teas said 2010-11-20 19:40:44 -0500

Okay, if you really want to spoil the surprise, go ahead and email me at frank (at) 52teas.com and I will send you a complete list. But I’m telling you, I struggled with this list for a while. I want to win over as many new customers as possible, so I chose what I consider to be the best and most popular blends we have. I just ask that you don’t reveal the list to anyone else, particularly the new blend we are creating for Christmas day.
