Are these nice people or what? :)

Glad you’re here. One of my experimental tips is to check out what’s available in bulk at your local indie/health food/international grocers. Generally lots of moderately-priced options to acquaint you with tea genres without having to commit yourself to a large amount.

Marzipan and I are big fans of Plum Deluxe- a once a month tea subscription plan.

Welcome!

If you’re looking for interesting new teas to try, a subscription box can be fun. Two I can recommend are http://www.teasparrow.com/ and http://amodatea.com/ – they’re both Canadian companies, but will ship their boxes for free to the US, and with the exchange rate the way it is right now (sigh) it’s actually a really good deal for you.

Early on, I recommend getting lots of small samples, so you can try things out without buying a massive amount of tea (looks over at tea collection… coughs…). By small, I mean 10-25g (roughly 1/2 to 1oz) at a time. Be aware that over time, your tastes will probably change. Here’s a great post with a list of tea companies that sell sample sizes: https://www.facebook.com/notes/tea-drinkers/tea-companies-that-sell-sample-sizes/776663389096403

Thank you for that list. That is pretty awesome!

Allen if you’re looking for something local to try you might like to explore at the Zen Tea Bar if you haven’t been there. I live in Canada so I haven’t personally tried any of their Teas but the reviews seemed decent. http://www.ezentea.com/atlanta-tea-shop/atlanta-tea-room-house-chamblee-georgia

Im planning on hitting up that place tomorrow! It sounds awesome. There is also another tea shop here as well that Im gonna try to go to tomorrow as well!
