Secret Pumpkin 2015 - sign ups closed!

Hello all! This thread is for Secret Pumpkin 2015!
The concept is basically like Secret Santa, but in the Fall! We had alot of interest on the old thread so I thought I’d revive it. Sign ups will be open through September 25th! You should ship by Oct 10!

If you’re international, please let me know when you express interest!

I think the only new rule might be implemented this year is a Minimum spend amount like for Secret Santa. Once we get the thread going we can discuss how much everyone wants it to be, but I was thinking $10, not including shipping costs. I know that alot of people will also be pulling from their personal stashes for this though, hence the need for discussion.

Copied from last year’s thread:
SECRET PUMPKIN is here!!! This is a fun little fall treat – especially when we’re waiting on pins and needles for those black friday sales.

The goal of secret pumpkin is to make your pumpkin feel special. Please send your pumpkin a minimum of 3-5 teas (enough for 2 16oz cups each), depending on the type of tea this could be between 2-3 oz total. You can send them fall related teas and/or look in their wish list for ideas.
Also, send your pumpkin something special – this could be tea related, fall related or both!

RULES
I will take sign ups until September 30th (we will mail them out by October 10th), but please note that it is not just first come first served. I reserve the right to check activity levels on the site, not to be a tea snob, but because there is a history (even a recent history) of new people signing up, getting excited, and then they disappear. So that all people involved get to benefit from their participation, I want to make sure that the people on the list have at least some history of being active on here, and/or “swap cred” in the sticky post, and/or prior participation in a box.
FOLLOW ME so that I may contact you with addresses and such

I have a question about secret pumpkin. We are not necessarily supposed to go out and buy teas but send 3 to 5 samples from our cupboards? To be worth no less than $10. Then in addition we are supposed to buy them something with an Autumn theme?

I was waiting for someone to bring up the topic. Soo…. the problem with Secret Pumpkin is that some people approach it Secret Santa style where you go out and buy something or curate something from your cupboard specially for your Secret Pumpkin (hence the minimum spend). But some people might approach it swap style, specialized for one person. I think that ended up in some confusion if I read the Secret Santa threads from last year correctly, because there was no clear rules stated. At the same time I don’t want to make this too complicated or scare anyone off from participating.

Now if might be for some special persons those two approaches means practically no difference, and for others alot of difference in time/money spend and attention to detail. The minimum spend rule is not actually in effect yet. I was hoping to start a poll or something so we can work out/ clearly state what is expected for your package.

We can totally totally just keep with the same rules for last year and do 3-5 samples plus something autumn themed. I do know though that it sounded like some people went above and beyond for their recipients and I didn’t want anyone to feel sad if they didn’t end up one of those people. Or feel guilty because of the opposite.

Oh and the $10 would include the autumn theme thing, I think.

The $10 for tea is kind of tricky, because for some teas that would be like 2oz, but for some it might be like 10g.

Last year my Secret Pumpkin sent me a beautiful little decorative pumpkin that she tattooed henna type designs on with a sharpie. It was great. It could be anything.

I think adding a maximum cap on spending would make it more clear than a minimum.

Last year I was one who wished I sent more as I got way more in return.

I can understand that, I was in the same boat.

I do know also that some people love going all out on these kind of things and spoiling their recipient. For me I just like buying people presents. =)

How about this: We can say that the value should be around the range of $10-$15 (or whatever the group chooses). That way there are no ‘it should be absolutely under this much’ or ‘above this much’. If the person chooses to send more or less, that is their choice? I can ask this in private message and see what the group consensus seems to be.

Can we set the maximum for spending at $15 with the note that shipping is not in that price. It is a maximum which does not mean that anyone has to spend $15.00 or $14.99. This is for fun :)
^ That is all a suggestion, Flyawaybirdie you set the rules!

p.s. this is going to be fun !
